My husband and I usually stay at all-inclusive resorts, but wanted a different experience this time. I cannot comment enough about how happy we were with our decision.

Exuma- Best beaches we've ever been to! The water is so blue! We'd never seen shades of blue like that. We've been many places and no place even begins to compare to the beauty of Exuma.

Turtle Rock house is on Tropic of Cancer beach on Little Exuma. The beach and ocean there are pristine. It is very quiet and secluded. Most days there were between 6-8 other people on the beach. Many times we were the only people on the beach. It was like having our very own private beach. It was exactly what we were looking for. The entire island has gorgeous beaches, but we rarely left Tropic of Cancer because it was everything we were looking for. One beach that I have to mention though is Coco Plum beach, about an hour's drive from Tropic of Cancer. That beach will take your breath away. It's a must see!

The house- The house is beautiful. It is very clean, comfortable, and spacious. It has three bedrooms, but it was just my husband and I so two of the bedrooms went unused. The view from our bedroom was amazing! Really too beautiful to describe. The kitchen is furnished with pots, pans, dishes, and utensils. We made use of those items most days as we chose to cook in rather than eat out every day. It was very helpful and cost effective to be able to do that. The house also has two bathrooms and a good size living room/dining area. What really defines this house and makes it stand out from other houses on Tropic of Cancer beach is the wrap around deck. The deck opens up straight to the beach. Literally we walked down our steps to the most amazing beach we've ever been to. We spent the majority of our time on the deck if we weren't out in the water. The serenity was exactly what we were looking for. We were more than pleased with the house. Our opinion after looking at the other houses on Tropic of Cancer beach is that this is definitely the best house on the beach. I would recommend it to anyone-and already have!

The owners and property manager- We could not have been more pleased with the owners and property manager. They were very prompt, courteous, and helpful when dealing with us. They answered all of our questions promptly and thoroughly. We couldn't ask for better people to work with.

We recommend this house enthusiastically! We are already planning our next trip back to Turtle Rock house!

Great house and location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the house the first week of January. It is a very nice house and great location right on the Tropic of Cancer beach. This beach is very pristine and private. Beautiful blue water. Our only issue was the washing machine and dryer are coin operated, which we were aware of prior to our arrival. However we learned after our arrival that both machines only accept US quarters and each machine requires 6 quarters per load. We had to go to 2 banks and 2 grocery stores in Georgetown and practically beg for US quarters. They got a little aggravated with us because they had to sort through their quarters to find US quarters. One bank would not even look. So if you go, take at least 5 rolls of US quarters to do your laundry. Also, the directions we were given to the house weren't the best way to go. The roads to the house after turning off the highway are in extremely poor condition (washed out and rutted). The easiest and best road to the house is turn left onto the Tropic of Cancer road (there is a big sign) and it will go straight into the driveway of the house. The directions we were given were more round about, worse roads and the sign for the road (Percy Road) was either torn or blown down. We had to go Santana's Bar and Grill in Williams Town to find out where Percy Road was located. The water pressure in the house is pretty low which makes it a little difficult to shower. I don't know if that's an area issue or particular to the house water system. Other than those issues we had a great time and highly recommend the house for you vacation. We thank the owners for allowing us to share their wonderful home.

Owner's Response: The house does have a coin laundry. 100% of the proceeds go to The Little Exuma Trust Fund which is a local charity. Our property manager has Us quarters for exchange. The two roads to the beach are not good. That is part of island living. Percy road is usually the best road but not the shortest. The more direct road is impassable most of the time. The Percy Road sign was blown down in the hurricane but has since been replaced. Water pressure has been improved but not to the level of most municipal systems in the States.

This house, the beach = the BEST! We loved it. Tropic of Cancer is the best beach on the island, and this house is great. Just like in the pictures. I would definitely recommend, and even return. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.

Three couples absolutely, thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Turtle Rock House on Tropic of Cancer Beach on Little Exuma. If you're looking to get away from it all, this is the place for you. We either had this amazing beach all to ourselves or shared it with very few people. It is, indeed, a paradise. There was wonderful walking on the beach, kayaking to the Turtle and Alligator Rocks, and a little bit of snorkeling. But the sheer beauty of just being there is the best! The house is quite lovely, simply and tastefully decorated and is very functional. The drive back to Georgetown takes about 30 minutes for shopping, etc. We went to Tropic Breeze and Santanaas Grill in Williamstown for two excellent meals.

Wonderful Beach House on Amazing Tropic of Cancer Beach

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have vacationed in Exuma for the past 6 years. The non-stop, three-and-a-half hour flight, from Toronto to Great Exuma is so convenient

This was the first year we rented a house on the beach and the first time we stayed for two weeks instead of one. When we were in Exuma the year before, we took some time to rent a car and visit a number of possible rentals on various beaches on Great and Little Exuma. Turtle Rock House reminded us of our cottage in Muskoka, being so close to the water, and with its large sun deck. There were no other rentals that we saw that were right on the beach like Turtle Rock House is. Unlike a number of the other rentals that are furnished more like city houses, Turtle Rock has a comfortable, welcoming, lived in cottage (beach-house) feel to it. The house is more than adequately appointed, and has a definite Bahamas character.

The owner and the property manager were very helpful. They responded quickly to all our inquiries and followed up to ensure our satisfaction, before and during our stay.

We would recommend renting a car. We did and enjoyed driving around the island, shopping for supplies in George Town, and eating at a number of restaurants. Santana’s, ten minutes away, is a must! The road from the Queen’s Hwy to Tropic of Cancer Beach and Turtle Rock House is similar to some of the cottage roads in Muskoka, more of a one-lane, weather-worn track than a road, but it seems to limit the number of tourists who make it to the beach, which is nice. The Tropic of Cancer Beach is absolutely amazing, beautiful, clean, and you mostly have it all to yourself. We walked its length on a number of occasions. Swimming or just wading into the ocean was wonderful with the amazingly crystal clear water and pristine, white sand on the bottom.

My wife and I are already talking about going back next year.
