27 Milk street is located on one of the most desirable streets in the old historic district of Nantucket. Cobblestoned Main Street is approximately 1/4 mile away. It's an easy walk to beaches, shops, restaurants, museums, the library and much more. No need to bring your car as you can get to anything on Nantucket from this wonderful downtown location.
The first floor of the house has a front parlor, a dining room, kitchen, powder room and large living room overlooking a secluded and fenced rear yard. The second floor has two bedrooms and a bath.
We bought this house in 2013 because we love the proximity to downtown but also because the house was so charming. We love the separate dining room, the gallery which leads into the kitchen, the bay window with window seat in the living room overlooking the terraced back yard. We've been doing lots of updates since we bought the house. During the spring of 2016 we have completely redone the first floor powder room. In the living room we are in the process of finishing a wall of drawers/bookcases so the TV will be hidden behind a barn door. There will be a new outdoor shower as well. We redid the kitchen in the Fall of 2016 with gas cooking. I will post photos as soon as the tile work is complete hopefully early January.
We've owned a cottage in Siasconset (at the East end of Nantucket) since 1996. We love Siasconset but we spend a lot of time on Nantucket in the off season so we thought it would be fun to live in the thick of things in downtown Nantucket. We love being so close to everything...movies, beaches, shops, restaurants, the library and groceries.
Sarah Ann Miller purchased this cottage in 2013
We bought 'Downton' in the Fall of 2013. We love that we can walk to everything downtown in Nantucket and never have to use our car. We also enjoy walking in the opposite direction from town where there are miles of trails and places to explore.
We immediately fell in love with the coziness of Downton...it has the feel of a big house with beamed ceilings as well as a parlor and dining room but on a smaller scale. We love the private and spacious back yard. The house is very close to everything in the heart of Nantucket and easy access to bike paths to take you to the beaches at the other ends of the island.
We enjoyed a months stay in this lovely in town cottage. We were able to walk to all the in town restaurants, market, and the bus line to the beaches. The owners were very responsive and accommodating. The cottage was very comfortable and clean. We would recommend this cottage to anyone seeking a Nantucket Town experience, and all that this magical island has to offer!
Our family of four loved our stay at this charming Nantucket cottage! We strolled into town each morning and enjoyed our bike rides and runs on the nearby bike paths each afternoon. The house is cozy and perfectly decorated, and the owners were pleasant and easy to deal with throughout the rental process. What a wonderful two weeks!
This cottage was the perfect place for us to stay for our September week in Nantucket! The cottage is very clean, comfortable and convenient to town. It is tastefully decorated with a well-stocked kitchen, lots of closet space, very comfortable beds, plenty of fluffy towels, and even visitor information about Nantucket. The owner is very responsive and accommodating!
We did not need a car - we walked or took the bus to most places we wanted to go. Our Nantucket vacation was the best!
Charming cottage conveniently located within walking distance of downtown restaurants and shops as well as near bike paths to Cisco and Madaket beaches. Beautifully decorated and well-appointed. Feels like a real home away from home. And the owner was a pleasure to deal with—very professional, trustworthy, and responsive. I would definitely rent this house again!
