I am a professional artist and this is my private home. I enjoy entertaining friends here, and welcoming them into this peaceful retreat from the city.
Paul T. purchased this house in 2004
I have always been drawn to the Catskill Mountains, and after many years of looking for the perfect home I finally found it. The previous owners designed and built this house themselves and it shows in every detail, and that's why I bought it.
Pictures do not do justice to this house and the property. You have to see it to believe it.
I've stayed on the property a couple times this summer. It is an amazing retreat from my busy life. The cabin is beautifully maintained with a wrap around porch, jacuzzi bathtub, spectacular panoramic views, and three very comfortable beds. Can't recommend this property enough!
All the other great reviews regarding the house and the property were right on point. The house is quaint, comfortable and has a well appointed kitchen, while having wonderful views of mountains. There was useful information about the area, including things to do and restaurants. Paul was very accessible and responsive throughout the process. We would definitely return.
This was perhaps the nicest VRBO I've ever rented from. Beautiful, cozy, secluded, warm and stunningly picturesque. Everything was in perfect working order, and meticulously maintained. The house is a best suited for a group of 6, but we easily made it work with a group of 8 (with one couple sleeping on an airbed). We rented in the late fall, but I'm excited to rent again in Summer (and perhaps Winter too).
A perfect winter weekend! We were treated to snow, views, great walks, skiing, and the most comfortable home to relax in. The very cozy atmosphere was accented by all the amenities that anyone could need! The location was wonderful and the views were spectacular!!!! The home and grounds lacked nothing for our enjoyment. The absolutely dedicated care by the owner made everything so simple and allowed us to focus on enjoying our stay. We look forward to the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful home again soon.
The house is well maintained and comfortable on a lovely property. The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of pots/pans/tools as well as spices. Paul is a great host and was very responsive and easy to deal with. The location is close to Bellayre skiing and not too far from Pine Hill and a few other cute towns. Definitely need AWD in the winter going up the driveway.
My husband and I just needed a few quiet days somewhere and Halcott House was the perfect place. We spent our days hiking and exploring the area and slept beautifully in the very comfortable and incredibly clean surroundings. Had a good meal at the suggested Peek-a-Moose and enjoyed Paul's collection of cookbooks and great trail maps. Highly recommend this special place. And our dog had the time of her life; she could run free as the road was far from the house.
Just back from a fantastic Fall weekend at Halcott House. The house is a gem in beautiful surroundings, and Paul was a fine host, very responsive and helpful. Great attention to detail, especially in the kitchen. I would return in a heartbeat.
Ten minutes from Belleayre Mountain: skiing, snow shoeing, summer concerts.
