Great Cabin at awesome price
We had a great weekend getaway at the Ash Family Cabin. There was the master room with a leak, but owner will compensate us back for that. There was plenty of snow for kids to go down a little hill with sleds, and it was nice to get back and change after we went to Leland’s Snowpark the following day. Owners are very nice and polite. Will definitely consider staying here again.
Accommodating, clean, and very roomy.
Four woman retreating away off the grid.
We enjoyed cooking and home cooked meals. So many conviences...home away from home. On e settled in,enjoyed al fresco amongst the beauty of the forest. Wonderful location,10 minute drive to beautiful lake.
We will stay here again!
Thank you Ash Family Cabin.
What a beautiful cabin. We stayed for a week, and never got bored. It's huge! And has everything we needed and then some. Kids absolutely loved it, the upstairs bedroom with 4 beds was like their kingdom. Game room was also a favorite. The location is perfect, so close to a gorgeous Pinecrest Lake, hikes and caverns, we even made a day trip to Yosemite!
The owners are very responsive. When we arrived, there was an issue with a dryer, but the owner responded very quickly and sent a person to fix it right a way. Happy we stayed there.
Good for Weekend Trip
I totally agree with the previous review ... "Overall this is a nice big cabin". Just don't expect you are going to a 4/5 star new hotel/resort! The top level bathroom is a little out dated, but the 1st and 2nd level ones are newer. Kids found some dead ants inside the shower and freak out, but good lesson to teach them we were in the wood ... of course have inserts around.
I asked the owner about the air hockey table after saw the previous review, and he told me that table is working fine but missing all the pucks. He told me I can go buy it and he would pay me back. Plus, they added a soccer table in the game room. Kids love it.
The cabin located very close to a big road side sledding area, and only 15 minutes to the ski resort!
We all had good time during that 3 days 2 night ski trip!
nice big cabin
Overall this is a nice big cabin with plenty of space, games, and a hot tub. If you are looking for a four star resort, this is not it though! Think cabin in the woods(which it is) and you will be happy. For an FYI the downstairs game room is cold even with the supplied heater. We brought our own space heaters and it kept the room comfortable. The hot tub was wonderful after a day in the snow! Just remember to turn it on as it has an automatic switch off. There was very little counter space and we wished we had brought a card table for additional working space. Plenty of pots and pans though. Another thing to note is that there is no door between the upstairs bedroom and the loft, although there is a door to the downstairs from the loft. There was a leaking problem with the upstairs shower, but I let the owner know about it so hopefully that won't be a problem! The air hockey table didn't work either so if that's a deal breaker for you, I'd check with the owner to see if it's been repaired. Another thing to note it is that your phones won't work and the house phone doesn't do long distance, so bring a calling card! Even if just for emergencies! When you arrive you have to turn on the heater, water and water heater so don't bring a carfull of starving adults and kids and think you're walking in to rest! Oops! It only takes a couple minutes to turn everything on, but nice to have a heads up! Overall, we had a great weekend!
As soon as we walked in the place absolutely needs TLC. Furniture is old and falling apart. There is NO livingroom.. There is a small space in the Kitchen area with 2 small seats and a futon type for a couch. The pantry is off limits to store your groceries due to Mice and they have a sign telling you so. We found over 7 brown spiders throughout the place and my husband actually got bit by one. It was infected and needed medical attention and antibiotics.. When this was brought up to Mike, he brushed me off telling me that I should expect this due to the cabin being in the woods. I have rented many cabins and this is by far the worst.. Mike did not offer to compensate for Dr bill or medication.. There was also another incident where the medicine cabinet in the bottom bathroom actually came off the wall hitting my grand daughter in the head. The game room, has 2 old dirty couches and an air hockey table that is broken. There was no heat coming into this part of the house and it was FREEZING cold and this is the only room with a small TV. We were all miserable in this home.. We made the best of it since it was Thanksgiving.
I do no recommend this cabin to anyone. I will never return to this one for sure.
Located in Cold Springs, just minutes from Pinecrest Resort and Dodge Ridge ski resort. In the summer our cabin offers easy access to several streams, rivers and lakes for great fishing. For the serious fisherman the East Walker river is 80 miles away and offers some of the best Rainbow and Brown trout fishing in California. Pinecrest Lake Resort is 10 minutes away and offers fishing, boat rentals from kayaks to partyboats. For skiers and boarders minutes away is Dodge Ridge offering a vertical drop of 1600 feet and a summit of 8200 feet. Dodge Ridge has a full service ski shop and rentals for the entire family. Also in the winter there is a indoor skating rink just minutes down the road. Located walking distance from the cabin is a gas station and general store with a deli. Also there are two restaurants within two miles. Twaine Harte and Sonora are both located within 40 minutes and offer many excellent restaurants and entertainment including bars and movie theatres.
