About Jan Laverty
Retired. We live in the main house on the property about 200' away from the guest quarters. We love Montana and the people of Montana.
Jan Laverty purchased this Guest House in 2009
Why Jan Laverty chose Bigfork
We bought the property in 2009. Neither my wife or I had ever been in Montana. When we saw Flathead Lake, Bigfork Village, the Rocky Mountains and the natural beauty of the area, we knew we were home.
What makes this Guest House unique

Delightful experience!
The Bunkhouse is spacious, comfy, quiet, well equipped & very clean. Owners, Jan & Bev, are delightful & caring people. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & wish it could have been longer! Thank you!
Spacious, comfortable, clean, quiet. Loved it!
Spacious, comfortable, quiet, clean. Owners are great!
Previous Reviews Were Right!
This is a sweet, comfortable little Bunkhouse in a beautiful setting. Our stay was not for recreation, so we had no sporting equipment but the parking and mud room would have accommodated most anything. The place is well-appointed, not lavish. We felt it was centrally located and private but not isolated. With the door to the mud room at the back of the covered parking it’s a perfect place to return to after a strenuous day. Rosauers Market about 20 minutes away had everything to satisfy our finicky tastes. Our only trouble was being so far north and visiting near the Summer Equinox, timing our dinners to sunset, had us eating around 9-10 PM. For us the Bunkhouse was both a great base for our activities and a gracious retreat in the woods
Outstanding Accommodations / Wonderful Area / Unbeatable Experience
My wife and I spent 2 1/2 months at the "bunkhouse" and we could not have asked for a better place to stay. The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen is well appointed and the home is centrally located to everything in the Flathead valley. The owners will give you privacy but I would suggest you make an effort to meet them, they are wonderful people, lots of fun and can give you advice on the area. The home would pass the clean test of even the most demanding. The covered patio is where we spent many hours watching the wildlife, reading and simply enjoying the views. The deer pass by the front porch every morning and evening, they are so wonderful to watch. We can not think of anything that this property lacks in terms of comfort, livability and accomodations. If you rent once, I promise you will be back, this is the real deal in a home away from home. Excellent internet service, a big flat screen TV in the living room as well as a TV in the master bedroom. We would come back except we liked the area so much, we bought a home here.
Comfortable Cabin
As other reviewers have said, this is a nice, clean cabin, well situated for exploring western MT. The beds are comfortable, furniture and trappings all good quality. The kitchen was well set up for cooking and eating there too. The only downsides are that there's no bathtub - a little tricky for washing small children but the shower is extra big, so not a major hardship. There's no stove or fireplace, which might put some people off in the winter, but of course it was no problem in July! Also, it would have been nice to have an outdoor seating/eating area, but again, it's not a deal breaker, esp. if you're like us and spend most of the time there doing other things. I'd recommend to a friend.
We appreciate our guests taking the time to give us a review. It helps us improve. In addition to the 10' X 40' patio that is already in front and has 8 outdoor chairs, we do have plans to expand the yard area in front and the side. We'll look into a picnic table too.
Perfect!
Great place! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Our Siberian Husky was right at home in the secluded treed area. The owners are wonderful people! Definitely recommend!
Location
The Village of Bigfork, Montana is within 3.5 Miles, 20 Miles to Kalispell, MT and Glacier Park International Airport. The highly rated Eagle Bend Golf Club is within 4 miles. There are 9 nice golf courses in the area. You have snow skiing at Big Mountain in Whitefish and even closer is Blacktail Mountain. There is premier hiking and cross country skiing at Jewel Basin which is just a few miles away. There is outstanding boating in Flathead Lake, Swan Lake, the Swan and Flathead rivers. Swan River is a fantastic place for family kayaking and is just 5 miles away. Bigfork Village provides you with many high end restaurants as well as excellent breakfast and lunch spots. Bigfork is very charming and has many activities throughout the year. The 4th of July parade 2011 was one of the best parades I have seen. People came from 200 miles away just to see it. You have hot rod shows, Christmas parades and the village is decorated beyond expectation for the winter holidays. The Bigfork Summer Playhouse is one of the special attractions in the area. There seems to be every activity known to man in the area, so there is always something to do. The guest residence is 1,250 square feet and has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, combination living room, dining area and kitchen. There is a big pantry, a refrigerator with an ice maker. You also have a clothes washer and dryer. The 20' X 32' carport provides parking for many vehicles, boats or trailers full of recreational vehicles. You don't have to worry about removing all your stuff and it will be guarded from the weather and unsavory people. There is also parking in front of the residence. As well there is plenty of room, on site, to park trailers with tow vehicles hitched up. You pretty much have everything you want in this charming guest quarters. For short stay guests there is a supply of laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet tissue, cleaning supplies, salt & pepper, etc. Come stay with us. You'll be back.
