My husband and son were attending Wooden Boat School and I was lucky enough to find Jane's home on the water in Brooklin! We brought some family and a friend and had a simply wonderful time. The house was lovely with fabulous views of Eggmoggin Reach. The property was so private and lovely and we enjoyed being on our own on the coast. The house was so very comfortable and everything one could need was right there! We certainly enjoyed the fire place and wood was right there for us. The kitchen was very well appointed and the beds very comfortable. The bathrooms were very nice and immaculate and the linens were great. We cooked dinner every night and lacked for nothing in the kitchen. We have been to Brooklin several times, but this was our very best stay and the most comfortable. We would certainly go back if we get the opportunity. Thank you for letting us use your home. It is a very special place in the world.
We went to Brooklin, Maine for my husband and son to attend Wooden Boat School. We brought some family and a friend. I was lucky enough to find this lovely home on the water with a fire place! Our hostess was so gracious and accommodating and the house was so comfortable. Everything we needed was right there! It was so nice to be able to do a little laundry and then explore the Blue Hill peninsula. We were so lucky that the Big Schooner Race happened that week and we had a great view of all the the lovely boats going by the house! We have been to Brooklin, Maine several times but this was the most comfortable stay we have had and I would give our hostess many more stars if I had the opportunity.
Staying at this lovely Brooklin home was a dream. It is a gorgeous property with a deck where you could sit all day to watch the water and view the grounds. The common space is well-appointed and very comfortable for sitting around and talking, creating puzzles and watching movies (of which they have an amazing inventory). The kitchen has everything you could want and the seating looks right out on the water. Even though we each had some work to do, we could sit in various rooms and look out, as well as sit at deck table, so it all felt less difficult. The home is clean with quality appointments and furnishings, yet all is comfortable; one feels immediately at home. Of note, the upstairs rooms which light and sunny are intended for those who can easily use stairs and their is no bathroom on the second level. The owner is very responsive, provided excellent directions, and her managers, too, were responsive. For anyone unfamiliar with the region: it is quiet and beautiful with many trails for walking and exploring the water; there are artists throughout showing their works and you are an hour from Acadia. You might not want to go that far since there is so much to see in this Blue Hll, Brooklin, Deer Isle area, including ferry from Stonington to Isle au Haut! Go, do not wait, and I would encourage you to consider this lovely home for your family !
A spirit of graciousness and generosity will greet you when you enter the circular driveway and go through the doors. This is a handsome home, lovingly maintained, and surrounded by beautiful landscaping that honors the native vegetation. Guests can access the waterfront using a charming walkway down to the water, or enjoy the spectacular views right from the living room, kitchen table or the deck. Every amenity you could wish for has been provided, from plenty of towels, sheets and soap, as well as a washer and dryer for your convenience. The family treasures that decorate the house reflect the welcoming and warm character of this home. The owner was extremely helpful and responsive throughout the rental process. We dream about returning some day!
This is a long over due review. We departed from the property September 9 after a fabulous two weeks of seclusion on the coast. The house, the amenities, grounds, location, the environment were all perfection. We felt as if we were in our own home with all its comforts and warmth. The owner was wonderful to work with by email and there was a very helpful local caretaker. if you seek a perfect location in this part of Maine and idyllic seclusion … yet the convenience of a lobster shop a ten minute drive away … this is the place. We look forward to returning!
WOW! So 4 of our guys need a place to stay near the shipyard. We booked this place for a week. The guys LOVED not being in a motel or B& B and cooked together every night. They lived the comfort of the house and checking out the property. They went down to the shoreline and got muscles for dinner. They thank you Jane profusely for allowing them to enjoy your amazing home!
Brooklin is the home of The Wooden Boat School, Brooklin Boat Yard (designer and builder of yachts), Center Harbor Yacht Club and the Haven Colony. There is a well-equipped General Store, a library, the Brooklin Inn, and several shops which feature local artists and potters. 15 miles north on the peninsula is the town of Blue Hill with more shops, galleries and excellent restaurants. About 40 miles further east is Ellsworth, the gateway to Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island. Across Eggemoggin Reach, via a beautiful suspension bridge, is Deer Isle known for its many artists and the town of Stonington.
