About Wendy Young

When we were young we had the privilege of being near the ocean. We were ecstatic to get this quiet cottage at the end of Icehouse Lane. We fell in love with the place and hope to share our lovely cottage with you.

Wendy Young purchased this house in 2011

Why Wendy Young chose Downeast and Acadia

It's near the ocean and there are beautiful views. You can hear the ocean waves from inside the cottage. It's quiet and cozy. It's nice to just relax inside or outside during your vacation.

What makes this house unique

Near Acadia National Park, Lamoine State Park, and Lamoine beach. If you want warmer water to swim in there is Echo Lake near Southwest Harbor. Also, there is a small public pond named Blunts Pond, within less than a mile from our cottage. There is a small beach here and the water is nice and clean.

Peaceful, relaxing beauty

  • 5 of 5

My first trip to Maine is filled with many happy memories due to the tender loving care felt in this cottage. From the time you arrive, greeted with coffee, flowers, blueberry jam.... you feel warm and welcome. Acadia National Park is amazing, could watch the waves on the rocky shoreline for hours. Thanks again for opening your home to us and your gracious hospitality.

Beautiful cottage, right on the ocean!

  • 5 of 5

The Young's cottage on Ice House Lane is amazing! Mike and Wendy do a fabulous job as hosts. Beautiful welcome basket with blueberry jam, coffee beans and fresh flowers. The cottage was spotless, everything was so bright and cheerful. The new breezeway addition from the house to the garage was very welcoming and the perfect spot to keep the clutter out of the main living area. The yard is open and sunny , plenty of space for games or just relaxing. Very nice beach area, even during high tide. Perfect for putting the kayaks we rented for the week. Lamoine State park beach was a relaxing paddle away and Mount Desert Island was just across the bay.

The cottage is also very centrally located. Just a short drive to Ellsworth for groceries or a trip to Reny's or the LL Bean outlet store. Bar Harbour/Acadia was about 25 minutes away and heading north, the Schoodic penninsula should not be missed.

This was our 6th trip to Maine, staying in a different place each time and Ice House Lane is the only one we would definitely go back to again. We had a great time and absolutely loved the house! Thanks Mike and Wendy for opening your cottage to us!

Gorgeous Waterfront Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over last labor day weekend and this lovely cottage made our first trip to Maine an amazing one that we will never forget! From waking up to a beautiful sunrise over Frenchman's Bay and Cadillac Mountain to stargazing out back by the fire pit, everything about this home was perfect. Much of this had to do with the generous hospitality of the owners, who are extremely helpful and accommodating. Arriving at the house we were met with a sampling of local coffees, a book full of information on places nearby to try for food, entertainment, and even a place to rent kayaks that will bring them to the house! This ended up being our guide to our stay! Without the helpful guide we may never have known how amazing the popovers at the restaurant in Acadia are! Thanks for that!!!

The property itself is a short ride to Bar harbor and Acadia, and just far enough to feel private and secluded. The views are not to be beat and private access to the beach/water was amazing. We ended up going kayaking out on the bay and from the bay, just a short way out from the house, were able to watch a bald eagle flying back to its nest. This cottage was the most picturesque, serene place I have ever seen, let alone had the pleasure of staying at. I can not say enough great things about our stay at this beautiful home, we just loved it.
