Gorgeous Waterfront Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over last labor day weekend and this lovely cottage made our first trip to Maine an amazing one that we will never forget! From waking up to a beautiful sunrise over Frenchman's Bay and Cadillac Mountain to stargazing out back by the fire pit, everything about this home was perfect. Much of this had to do with the generous hospitality of the owners, who are extremely helpful and accommodating. Arriving at the house we were met with a sampling of local coffees, a book full of information on places nearby to try for food, entertainment, and even a place to rent kayaks that will bring them to the house! This ended up being our guide to our stay! Without the helpful guide we may never have known how amazing the popovers at the restaurant in Acadia are! Thanks for that!!!

The property itself is a short ride to Bar harbor and Acadia, and just far enough to feel private and secluded. The views are not to be beat and private access to the beach/water was amazing. We ended up going kayaking out on the bay and from the bay, just a short way out from the house, were able to watch a bald eagle flying back to its nest. This cottage was the most picturesque, serene place I have ever seen, let alone had the pleasure of staying at. I can not say enough great things about our stay at this beautiful home, we just loved it.

Even Better than Expected!

  • 5 of 5

These pictures cannot capture how nice this cottage is! It provided the perfect base for an Acadia visit with all the comforts of home for us, a couple with one child (easily could’ve accommodated another child or 2). Wendy keeps this place IMMACULATE and stocked with EVERYTHING you might need, even baking supplies, 2 coffee grinders, lobster pot, toiletries, books, board games & lots of DVDs though we never turned on the TV. We were welcomed with a nice basket of Maine goodies, including 2 different coffees: thoughtful touch!

The bedrooms are roomy, both w/closets & dressers. 1.5 bathrooms = no waiting. The mattresses in both rooms were comfy & seemed fairly new (older noisy/lumpy mattresses are sometimes an issue in rentals). People who haven’t visited coastal ME worry about not having AC. In our 20 years of renting here, this has never been an issue, and this house has lots of new windows to let in the cool, almost constant ocean breeze. The living room is large for the size of the cottage with comfy seating for about 8, surrounded by a wall of windows facing the East Bay. The whole cottage is light and airy in beachy whites and vibrant cottage colors. For those sensitive to ME’s (very) early and late summer sunrise/sunset, the bedroom windows have shades plus darkening curtains. Few places we’ve rented have thought to do this: great idea!

The location is convenient to MDI & Acadia NP while allowing a quiet base to “get away from it all.” You could easily spend your time relaxing here & enjoying spots within walking distance: Lamoine beach and SP, a local swimming pond (warmer water) & your own rocky shore. Rent kayaks from a local vendor who can deliver to the cottage. Enjoy the ocean views from all the outdoor seating on the sunny, mown lawn: lounge chairs, picnic table or a small table on a deck just outside the back door. Take time to watch for bald eagles, seals and other wildlife that come through on a daily basis; binoculars provided. Barbecue or at night, make a fire and stargaze.

As others have mentioned, Ellsworth is a short drive to stores and laundry if needed. Adding a washer/dryer might be the only suggestion we could make for improvement, since most air travelers will pack fewer clothes than possibly needed for the week’s stay.

Wendy and Mike clearly care about their guests' comfort & were responsive to communications. They’re bound to get lots of repeat guests & we hope to be among them. Thanks for a great stay!

Beautiful waterfront cottage

  • 5 of 5

My husband, daughter and I had a wonderful week in this cottage by the water. We enjoyed the rocky beach that was just steps away and sat on the beautiful lawn admiring the view. The home was bright and clean with a well equipped kitchen and comfortable furnishings. It was only 20-30 mins from Acadia and much less crowded than Bar Harbor. We wish we had more time to enjoy this home and all that the surrounding area had to offer. We hope to return again!

Lamoine is a nice area to stay

  • 4 of 5

Overall, Lamoine is a nice area to stay. It is close to Bar Harbor but is much quieter and less crowded. This particular house is a single story unit with two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and another with a bunk bed, and one and a half bathrooms. The water is not potable and purified water is needed, and there is no washer or dryer. The house has new wood floors which are nice and the interior of the house is in generally good repair. There were many nice touches, including coffee beans, two coffee grinders, a coffee maker, snacks for the kids, and other niceties. The house sits on the shore of a bay with an accessible water front but swimming is not really possible because of significant seaweed. The neighbor’s house was often very brightly lit at night because of external floodlights, detracting from the experience. In addition, construction noise was often present.

Beautiful setting! Beautiful view! Great week!

  • 5 of 5

What a great cottage right next to the water, we couldn't have been happier! The home was clean, bright & comfortable for my family of four. With so many windows there are views from everywhere in the house. We saw seals & porpoises in the bay, spotted right from the living room windows! The home was well equipped with all you would need & more. This is a beautiful place & Acadia was a short ride away. We hiked, biked, went whale watching & spent time exploring the area. The scenery is stunning, even in the fog & rain! My son appreciated the selection of board games! We had a wonderful week & would love to return some day!

Charming home, wonderful views.

  • 5 of 5

Charming and loved is the best description of this lovely home. The views from just about every window are great. The house itself is immaculately kept, and everything is done to make guests feel welcome and at home. Very close to Acadia National Park, and lots of quiet wonders. Wendy has provided lots of comfort items, and the new flooring that has just been installed is beautiful. This is just a very comfortable, very loved home, and we were lucky enough to have stayed for a few days, and if we are in the area again would love to stay longer. Thanks for letting us share your beautiful home. June
