This is not our first, not our second, but our third stay at this incredible beach house. From family vacations to romantic getaways, this house is sure to leave a lasting impression that will have you asking yourself, “why go anywhere else?” Tranquility resides at your disposal within a few steps of the gate where the beach is awaiting to impress you with so many variations of the color blue you will simply be left in awe. In addition to the tranquility, adventure presents itself in the form of snorkeling and kayaking to be enjoyed at the expense of the owner having provided all the necessary gear for the activities. Some of the other things that set this place apart - Cleanliness, security, and breath-taking views!
Enjoy a break from the norm and take what this beach house paradise has to offer! You won’t regret it!
In regards to the owner and the property manager, we are forever grateful for the hospitality they displayed during each one of our stays. They are extremely helpful and accessible throughout the whole process. We simply informed the owner of any questions or concerns we had and he was more than happy to address them throughout our stay.
This place was a great find! Located a quick 30 minutes away from old San Juan and just west of the ritzy Dorado area this place boasts some great local character. The house itself is very spacious and can easily sleep 8 people between the master bedroom, 2 bunk beds, and 3rd bedroom. Having 3 full bathrooms was also a very nice addition with a larger group. The kitchen is well stocked with stuff for cooking and is a nice open design blending in with the living space which has 2 couches. This looks right out onto the fenced in back yard and beach! The beach is definitely one of the highlight of this place as Cerro Gordo has nice soft, white, flat sands and of course the water is very warm. Right outside of the back gate you have essentially a sizable private beach which makes it easy to jump in the water when you want. The public part of Cerro Gordo beach is about 10 houses down and seems to be very popular with the locals during the weekends. The house also comes with a sea kayak which is a nice addition. Right next to the beach is a park with nice trails for running or hiking through. The house is kind of out of the touristy areas which was a perk for my friends and I but luckily its in a location that makes it easy to get out to see the sites and attractions. Also its only a 10 min drive to get to stores and shops down in Dorado. Overall this place is a great deal and I would highly recommend it if you're looking to have a nice relaxing beach vacation outside of the hustle and bustle of the San Juan area.
Growing up, I've visited Puerto Rico almost every year to see my family. When I found this rental for this price I knew it wouldn't be perfect, but the size was perfect, not to mention the doors open right to the beach. The owner was very friendly and always answered my questions... only had a few concerns:
We were always told "Maria " the property manager would greet us. She never did but a younger grandson would show up & try to address problems we encountered
The internet password wasn't long enough, but I was always told that was it. So we never got connected.
The windows couldn't open or close which was fine but when it rained the house got soaked inside, especially in the living room, which would explain the mold on the ceiling.
We never received our deposit, & when I asked why not, his response was oh sorry send me your address and I'll send it, but it was never received
All in all, you get a lot of space for your money but not so much quality.
Had a memorable time with the family at this beautiful beach house! The views were absolutely gorgeous and the property was much more than what we anticipated. Safe neighborhood with some of the most pleasant people we've ever come across. If you're looking for a memorable family getaway, look no further!
The property owners provided incredible hospitality and addressed all of our questions promptly - Thank you Mr. Allen for a wonderful time and we will be sure to comeback!
Your own little slice of Heaven on Earth! This home was more than we ever expected. It was clean, well maintained, and right on the beach. The owner was very helpful and more than generous! They provided everything we needed to have a perfect vacation! The home had several places to enjoy local cuisines. Must say our favorite was Raices in San Juan and Metropol that was less than 15 minutes from the house. Walmart was within 30 minutes away also. I would suggest this home to anyone! You are centrally located to where you can enjoy San Juan and the caves and many other areas. The beach was beautiful and you are right on it. The breeze at night was pleasant while hanging out on the balconies. Fruits are growing on the property. Limes and avocados are in the front and coconuts in the back. Our first day there we got to see an iguana right in the yard!! We will definitely be going back! A big Thank you to the owner for opening your home to us and allowing us to enjoy our vacation without the worry and stress that comes with traveling to another country. It's a great home and beautiful place!!
If you're wondering (as I did) why the price seems impossibly low, just take a look at the Owner's responses to the complaints in these reviews: "if you want (clean, quiet, etc.), check out the [hotel] down the block for $1,000/night." Well, sir, next time I definitely will.
The Owner also accusatorially states that one simple phone call would have cleared up any issues. I contacted him within the first 24 hours to ask why the electric oven didn't (and never) worked, the stove needed to be manually lit each time with a match (which we discovered by chance), neither of two coffeemakers on the counter worked, and the internet was not functional. His response to the internet issue was that "it depends on which way the wind blows." Apparently the wind *never* blew in our direction, because we had no internet from the house for the entirety of our 7-day stay. In response to the oven and stove not working, the Owner responded "Do u plan on using the oven?" I did say yes, and the issue was never addressed or resolved, leaving us without a functional kitchen. I contacted the owner an additional time to alert him to the fact that someone in our party sat on a dining room chair that promptly collapsed under him and might have been injured. The owner's response: "Thanks for letting me know. Maria will be there in the morning with a coffee maker."
Apparently we are supposed to be clairvoyant as well: there are virtually no house management or check-in/check-out instructions, not in the rental agreement, nor at the house. The Owner gave timely responses, if terse and bewilderingly insensitive.
Beach chairs were rusted shut, many lights with burned out bulbs, incredibly uncomfortable beds/linens, no trash bags, no laundry detergent, no paper towels, limited soap and toilet paper, rusty/moldy bathroom fixtures, uncomfortable and limited furniture (only 4 dining chairs, not 6 as advertised...3 after one shattered), parts of the dryer are coming loose, the outdoor grill was rusted and did not work, and we were told on arrival that the jacuzzi in the master bathroom was not functional.
I suppose the take-away is exactly as the Owner describes: if you want functional appliances, furniture that won't break under you, working internet, and an Owner who won't blame you for not knowing there are supplies behind a locked closet, then yes, head to a better establishment, even if it costs a little more. I know, I know...go to the [hotel down the block].
