The eagle moon cottage is a 1000 square foot home nestled in the woods about 11 kilometers from the town of Grand Forks and about 20 kilometers from Christina Lake. It is situated on 20 acres of land of which 10 acres front the Grandby River. There are several sandy beaches and bars that appear in summer for private bathing. The eagle moon is private, cozy and very romantic, ideal for all seasons.
There is a small local ski hill about 20 minutes away and several well know large ski hills within 40 minutes to 2 hours away. The town of Grand Forks is quaint and the people are delightful. There are cool artsy coffee shops and several wonderful gift shops sporting local artists work, the winters are soft core, with snow showing up usually in December and departing in March.
The temperatures are mild in winter and very comfortable in spring, summer and fall. The scenery is breathtaking - every turn in the road, a photographer's heaven. Wild life abound.
There is a large home known as the Eagle Sun Lodge on a separate 20 acres, but within walking distance of the Eagle Moon. It can be rented along with the eagle moon for large groups such as reunions or wedding parties.

About Dawn McConnell
I would say I am a business person ( Cancerian style) on the outside and perhaps somewhat of a hippy on the inside. I have two children a son and a daughter who live in Santa Cruz , Ca. I raised them for the most part as a single mom. Luckily my chosen career was as a registered nurse which provided our monetary security and the possibility of owning a home. I have always felt at home and at peace when surrounded by nature and a bit away from all the fussing and fighting ( so to speak). So when I looked for a home for us I sought out land, water and that which felt carried the ' sacred' . I am not ' new agey' but I would say my thinking leans towards eastern rather that western thought. I believe all living things have a right to be here and a right to equal respect. I include nature in that thinking. I live part time in Kauai, Hawaii now and they have what they call ' kuleana ' It means personal responsibility towards all that you do and care for. I try to live like that. When I purchased this land I felt a responsibility towards it and I still carry that feeling. I feel it is a very special place on earth. Apparently it was a Native Americian healing ground. My kids and i experience that every time we here. I feel it is also good to share with other's something that is special such as this place. Offering it as a vacation rental has allowed me to let others come and go from this home and take away whatever is in their capacity to experience.

Beautiful and Quiet
My first trip to Canada and it was made very special by our stay at Eagle moon cottage.
It is just a very unique and beautiful place.
The booking and communication with Dawn was excellent made everything as easy as it could be, the cottage is well equipped spacious and clean loved relaxing at night after being out all day sight seeing and wild life watching. The stars a night are amazing as the sky at night was so clear. We really loved our stay and would defiantly come back (we are tiring to plan it as I type). I have recommend the cottage to friends back in Scotland and hope they will experience this beautiful place.
Beware of this owner-what she says and what she does can be very different.
Very difficult to deal with. paid fully up front and she was hounding us for cash deposit after we gave her a cheque per our contract. Said dogs were okay, then said our dog would have to sleep outside (wooded area), when she knew our dog was a service dog. Gave us the wrong cottage and our sog had a problem with the stairs. Then she advised us by e-mail that the day after we artived she would come to the door and insistbon cash deposit. We left our fully paid vacation behind and drove many miles home as didn't want to deal with these issues on our rare holiday time. VRBO did not want to list this rating, so just checking to see if they have more honorable rating system now??
We were very sorry these guests didn't enjoy their stay.
We do allow guests to bring pets provided they are willing to accept and honor the guest house rules and pay a fully refundable damage deposit to assure protection of the home.
The fully refundable damage deposit can be paid via cheque if submitted at least 30 days in advance .
If the damage deposit is submitted on the arrival day it must be paid in cash.
We can't accept cheques for the damage deposit on the day of arrival for obvious reasons.
We do allow pets. We require that they are well taken care of and well trained.
If your pet gets dirty we ask that you wash him before bringing him back into the home.
Pets are not allowed to sleep in the beds with the owners even if they are service dogs.
. Many of our guests come with family pets. They bring kennels or their pets own beds. Pets are never allowed to sleep on beds or furniture.
The cottage is on a large acreage and there is lots of room for pets to enjoy the outdoors.
Our neighbor owns a pet kennel so if you need day pet care she is a wonderful alternative to leaving your pet at the home alone,
We are actually very easy to work with but we do have to have a few rules which I guess isn't always easy for some to accept.
Quiet and Beautiful Setting
Two years ago I stayed at this lovely cottage in the woods. Every year around this time I remember it fondly. I needed a quiet place to stay and work on my online university studies. I couldn't have asked for a better spot. It was quiet, clean and spacious. Everything was easy, from making the reservation through to the checkout. They even went above and beyond when my laptop had technical difficulties and offered to let me borrow one! I highly recommend Eagle Moon Cottage.
There was a mix up (miscommunication) with the arrival dates, so the beginning of our trip was less than relaxing. However, Dawn to the rescue!!!! She quickly figured out our miscommunication, and had the cottage ready for us in minutes. I was amazed at how the miscommunication was handled, extremely professional and friendly. I would stay there again and again! Beautiful place. Great views. Quiet. Cozy. Dawn had towels out for us, plates, utensils. All we brought was our own food. The views are breath taking and it's dead quiet out there. It is a slight drive from the main road, so if you are looking to stay more central, this location is about a 15-20 min drive into the valley. Well worth it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Made great memories at a beautiful spot. Thank you Dawn!!!!!!!!
A Precious Gem of a Place; and a Wonderful Owner...
I had a thoroughly wonderful and remarkable time for my entire seven day stay at Eagle Moon Cottage. It's the perfect place to rejuvenate and restore body, mind and spirit. I look forward to returning soon, and staying longer. (The nearby Kettle Valley Railway / Trans Canada Trail cycle path from Grand Forks to Christina Lake looks like a a sweet ride just waiting to be explored, to be followed by a steamy bowl of delicious homemade borscht somewhere back in town, and maybe a movie and popcorn at the funky theatre... Life is good and Eagle Moon Cottage makes it even better...) Thank you Dawn, for sharing your beautiful and special place.
My husband and I stayed for 6 nights at Eagle Moon Cottage. We loved the peace and quiet of the location, which is about 10 minutes from the town of Grand Forks. All the comforts of home, yet a feeling of being away from it all. We golfed in Christina Lake and Rossland, did some hiking, paddled up the river in a dingy (which was provided), did some excellent star-gazing, and relaxed. We plan to do it again next year.
We are located directly on the Grandby river about 10 kilometers from the town of Grand Forks and 12 miles from CHristina Lake which is one of the warmest lakes in Canada, We are in an area that is very popular stop for summer tourists due to the beauty of the area as well as the two river ,large lake and several other small lakes close by,
