This apartment is situated on the very renowned Place Vosges, in the heart of the Swamp, a few steps away from Bastille, from St Paul and from the Island St Louis. A large number of stores, shops, restaurants surround this place so romantic and quiet. The closest subway stations are Bastille and Saint Paul on the line 1. The environment is very secure in the daytime and at night. We can walk there and get lost in the charming side streets of the oldest district of Paris.
In the 3rd floor (+I / 2 small floor) of a building built in 1640. The access on the place is reassured by a carriage entrance with code and the second door in the court with an intercom.
The view of the house gives directly onto the place of Vosges and the orientation is due west.
This apartment of 80 m2 in a separate bedroom, a beautiful, a beautiful main room and the second bedroom area, opened on the main, but rather comfortable room to offer two appropriate additional sleeps.
The entrance gives onto this main room : the dining area, the space lounge and the part sleep with its small place lounge decorated with its attractive fireplace.
The dining area has a dining table for eight persons when it is opened. It is the Round Table for four that opens in four pieces and allows to welcome four additional persons.
The stay has a (convertible) sofa, a coffee table and two armchairs.
The stay has a (convertible) sofa, a coffee table and two armchairs. The space lounge near the fireplace offers another two comfortable armchairs. The space harms is very comfortable and offers a double bed (160x200).
The main room is near the front door. It offers a double bed (140x190) and arrangements for your clothes. Note that a big closet is at your disposal in the main room.
The bathroom with bathtub and toilets is just next to the bedroom. It has a lot of charm.
The kitchen opened on the room to be lived is very well equipped, with, among the other equipments, the piano of authentic cooking, completed to cook as a real cooker !
This beautiful place can welcome six guests (sofa bed for two), but is to be more pleasant for four. It has a lot of character for most of these houses of the XVIIth century.
First, this apartment is EXACTLY as it appears in the photos. Guillaume has done a wonderful job updating the unit, and given that this building is very old, that is no small task! My family (husband, myself, and three children) stayed here in July, 2016. It was very comfortable for 5 people. Our flight was very delayed, and Guillaume was in constant contact with us to make sure he was able to meet us and get us into the building. There is a small bedroom, and yes, with a view of the Eiffel Tower from the bed, however you can see it from every window on the front of the apartment! Gorgeous and Breathtaking! The other queen sized bed is located in an alcove right off the main living space. There is also a sofa bed. The bathroom and kitchen are updated, with all the amenities you would expect. We had no shortage of dishes, cups, mugs, etc. There is also a nice little nespresso machine if you want to make your own coffee (to go with the croissants from the boulangerie up the street!).
The apartment is super close to the metro (very easy to use), many shops, restaurants, and places to sit and watch the world go by.The square itself (Place des Voges) is very family friendly with sandboxes, play space, and a playground to use. There is also a very good restaurant at the corner, that has cafe "take away" (read: take out) which we availed ourselves of every a.m. Very good! There is a bakery close by, and a pizzeria that wasn't too bad. This is a very safe and lovely area. We would absolutely stay here again. The entrance is locked by a code entry, and the main door to the building (once past the coded entry) is accessed by key. The apartment is also key entry - we felt very secure.
A word of caution - this apartment is on the 4th floor and there is no elevator. While this was not a problem for us, and we expected stairs from the description, if you can't do that many stairs (the last flight is very narrow), this may not be the apartment for you. The building was under renovation while we were there (re-plastering, re-wiring, etc.) so a few things didn't work (i.e., TV), but that really didn't hinder our feelings about the apartment or our stay!
Guillaume is a wonderful host, full of information and assistance if you need it. We are already planning a trip back; Paris is lovely and this apartment was perfect. Can't wait to stay here again ... c'est manifique!
These pictures are not lying. The apartment has a lot of charm, doors/roof/furniture look hundred+ yrs old, but you still have all the amneties you need. We also prefer to find stayt in apartments/houses where people actually are living part-time, the personal touch makes a difference. Beds are good, beware that the second bedroom is an open alcove, but the kids loved sleeping there. You actually have a view to the Place des Vosges from several small windows in the living room + in the bed room.
We had varyig weather during our March stay, but didn't mind spend more time i the good atmosphere of the apartment. Don't turn around as you you climb the final steps! We certainly got second thaughts about our choice as we entered the last corridor of slanted old floors and started climbing the narrow last stairs. Surprise!
We loved this apartment! It was full of charm & character. It felt very comfortable, like home, but better. The location was perfect. The Marais had everything we were looking for: restaurants, cafes, art galleries, shops, parks, easy access to the rest of Paris, walking distance to the Seine. The best part: I could see the Eiffel Tower from bed!
The kitchen was well equipped, & the expresso machine was a big plus.
The drawbacks: It's not actually a 2 bedroom. The 2nd "bedroom" is off the main living area, around the corner, but lacking a 4th wall or door. The shower is a typical European tub with a handheld shower head & a low ceiling. Lots of stairs, but we didn't mind.
The location of this apartmend is situated in one of the more desirable areas of Paris. We fell in love with the character of the apartment more and more every day. The Wi-Fi service in the apartment was spotty, but the owner was there with in minutes to help any situation that came up. I would recommend this apartment to couples or to families who want to experience authentic Parisian living. Some of our most fond memories were of my friend and I staying up late chatting in the apartment and spending our mornings leisurely getting ready for the day and enjoying the apartment. We are both interior designers in the United States, so, it is not easy to fulfill the standard of living and the desired feel of a home to our liking. But this charming little apartment did so remarkably well! I will 100% be back to this apartment.
Stayed at the apartment in August 2015 with 2 young children. Fantastic location, highly recommend.
* Situated on a medieval square. Very picturesque. Can see the Eiffel Tower in the distance
* Very close to both the Bastille and Saint-Paul Metro stations, short walk to Notre Dame
* Great jumping off point for the major attractions, and an easy trip by RER to/from CDG
* Excellent fruit stand, butchers, bakeries, groceries (Monoprix) and sweet stores within a <5 minute walk
* Great restaurants on the square
* Don't miss Amorino Gelato on the north-east corner of the square
* Very unique architecture (1600's) at the top of the building with huge vaulted ceilings and hand chiseled beams
* Clean, modern kitchen with a gas stove, washing machine (and dryer), dishwasher, and espresso maker
* Very well stocked with towels, blankets, fans and the basics we needed
* We stayed during high temperatures 34c+, no a/c but this was fine with the cross-breeze and fans provided
* Top floor walk up, so expect 4 flights of stairs, but was easily manageable daily by our 4 year old
* Quiet, private, and secure building
* Very easy to communicate with and responsive to my emails
* Easy check in and check out procedures
Overall: Highly recommend
Our family with three kids (9,12 and 15) just stayed at Place Des Vosges and had a wonderful time. The apartment is beautiful and just as it appears in the pictures, with one bed in an actual bedroom, one in an alcove off the living room and a very comfortable pull out couch. Although it is a 5th floor walk up, my kids still thought it was very cool. The beds are comfortable, the apartment is well stocked and a view of the Eiffel tower out the window! It is in a lovely neighborhood on an historic square, great for an evening picnic when the temperature is soaring. It is an easy walk to the metro and buses as well as Notre Dame, the Seine and the lovely Picasso museum. Many restaurants, shops and grocery store all very close. Guillaume is very easy to work with and responsive to all my questions. I highly recommend this apartment.
