Nice home away from home.
Beds were comfortable. Ample supply of towels for bath and beach. Extra beach equipment for everyone including snorkeling gear and a beach mat.
Make sure you catch a sunrise.
There are a few places to eat within walking distance, Ono's steak and shrimp, a co_op market and a McDonald's. Neighborhood is friendly.
Driftwood cottage is a cute addition to the main house. We rented both.
The location of the house is easy to find and within 20 minutes of several beaches and parks. Great location.
Would rent again.
Perfect location for a quiet vacation
We spent 12 nights at the glassball early February 2018. We were 2 couples and we really enjoyed every minutes of our stay. Being at walking distance (few hundred wards) from a wonderfull beach several miles long is a real advantage if you feel quiet vacation. Ameneties incluse beach chairs, beach towels and bodyboards to enjoy the ocean. Only about 30 minutes from downtown Waikiki following the panoramic road along the ocean. On this road, many lookout where we had the chance to se whales almost every day. Lighthouse and Koko crater within 20 minutes. Vic was very helpfull with direction, advice and help printing out Pearl Harbor tickets. It is close to all main Highways so rest of the Island is accessible within 1 to 1 1/2 hours drive. Vic also provides information on hiking trials on Waimanalo area and Honolulu. I would warmly recommand.
Very nice for price, but a bit dated
Pros: Overall, this is a good place for the money. There was plenty of room for our family of six in this house - the living area is large and the kitchen is big enough to cook in and eat in. The outdoor space in back is nice and it's great to have a clothesline for wet swimsuits and towels each day. There were beach toys and towels available for use throughout the week which was wonderful. Beach is walkable, but if you're carrying beach toys, etc. I would suggest driving the few blocks. Nice beach to hang out at - kids body-boarded there. We watched the sunrise from the beach - very nice way to start the day.
Check-in was good - Vic was helpful and friendly. We noticed a potential problem with the house on the first day and I sent him a text. He replied immediately and was there the next day to check things out and make sure everything was okay.
We felt like it was a good location for exploring the island - close to some great hiking, Hanauma Bay, etc. and not too far from Waikiki.
Cons: Traffic noise is somewhat noticeable if you are in the front bedroom. Also, the bed in this bedroom was not the most comfortable. Overall, the place looks and feels pretty dated.
One last comment: There is a caretaker that lives in an apartment in the garage and another smaller rental in the back - basically all three of these are connected. We saw the caretaker a couple of times and only noticed the other renters once. Never did we hear any noise from the caretaker or the other renters, so almost didn't know either was there. Not a big deal, but was something I might have missed in the description and is good to know if you think you are getting a completely stand-alone house.
Perfect location. Nice amenities. Walking distance to beach and small town of Waimanalo Beach.
Had no trouble sleeping with the Kalanianiole Hwy noise. And really loved the school next door. Woke up each morning to children singing songs in Hawaiian as they gathered outside for the start of school.
A great place to stay!
Glassball Hideaway is a treasure! The listing was completely accurate, the property was very clean and well maintained. Vic was a great host - couldn't ask for better customer service. Location was ideal. If the road noise is a concern, just turn on the outside air fan in the room. Easy walk to the best beach in Hawaii! We highly recommend this location and plan to be back on our future trips to Oahu. Thanks Vic!
Very clean. Owner was great and very helpful. Beach was wonderful.
We went to the beach everyday. Great for young granddaughter. We had very pleasant drives to Waikiki to visit family and wedding. The drivers in our little town were very courteous and always let you into traffic. Very special place. Told Vic the TV stopped working and he replaced it with new TV the same day.
Located one block from a 5 mile stretch of white sandy beach. Giant yard and fun for the kids. Shady ironwood trees give the beach a park like atmosphere. Stroll the trails and watch the sunrise on the windward side of the island. Just a 10 minute ride to Kailua Beach with Kayaking and stand up paddle boards available. The small town of Kailua offers everything you need from Whole Foods supermarket to local shops offering locally made arts, crafts, clothing and books.
