Our stay at Chateau Riandaule was truly a French countryside experience with mixed treats of relaxation and a little adventure. My truly favorite part of this chateau is the gorgeous view of the Dordogne river which flows by the house. Our stay was in late august to September and the weather was gorgeous; warm and clear! Many times we ate our meals outside by the river and watched it flow by. In the mornings we went the local boulangerie to pick up another delicious!! morning pastry for breakfast and practice our French on the amused but engaging bakers. Daytime was spent taking long drives through the beautiful aquitaine country, touring monuments, wine-tasting at neighboring chateaus, wandering the outdoor local markets, or shopping in Bergerac (10 min. drive). The grounds of the chateau are well maintained and beautiful with the property large enough for a nice walk without going outside the premises. A little about the chateau itself; it is 17th century stone large chateau and is accommodating for everyone. It includes a nice modern kitchen and a cozy fireplace, living areas, and a bedroom and bathroom on the main floor. The second and third stories include more bedrooms and bathrooms. This is an exceptional place for family reunions or other similar events. It was very comfortable with all the amenities we needed. We loved our time here and can't wait to go back!! ******
This is an extraordinary home with lots of wonderful history situated in a beautiful country setting aside the Dordonge River. We loved our stay. The owners are helpful and provide for every comfort. And it is very clean. The fireplace in the kitchen provided a nice warm country breakfast experience. We especially enjoyed getting out and taking tours in the area... St Emilion, the Dordogne caves, and Monbazillac wine country. Also this is close to Bergerac which is a lovely village. This is great way to enjoy southern France!
From the moment we entered through the gates the experience at Chateau Riandaule was breathtaking! The grounds left such an impression, gently tended to keep the countryside, yet beautifully cared for.
The Chateau welcomed us with the true feel of French living. High ceilings, limestone walls, large french windows, comfortable furnishings and everything needed for our stay! The view from the veranda of the River Dordogne was so peaceful and the newly added small dipping pool was the perfect size and temperature to cool off after a long day of touring!
From the sites to the sounds (the owners leave a long play list of music) to the smells and tastes, we had a rich and full visit to France!
