About Laura Tan

Born in Hong Kong, but adopted to England in 1961. Owner has travelled extensively and driven an ambulance to Mongolia! However the love of St Ives has finally taken hold and the owner now lives moments away from Harbourside Penthouse so is on hand to help you make the best of your stay, offering a full concierege service if required including spa passes, Tate and Barbara Hepworth passes, delivered to your door. Or welcome champagne, chocolate and flowers for special celebration stays.

Children are welcome in the apartment (we have our own!) but due to the stair access and Juliette balcony, the apartment may not be suitable for toddlers. We can provide a temporary bed which would suit a child but not a large adult. Similarly elderly guests or guests with mobility difficulties may not find the apartment suitable for their needs. Sorry not smokers or pets please. Please note, balcony is Juliette style balcony with fully retractable bi fold doors rather than a full balcony extending outside of the property. The pool is not on site. It is at the nearby 4* Spa - 10 minutes walk away and passes are charged extra to your weekly accommodation charge. Access times are limited for children. You can stay for the day and enjoy spa facilities and the outdoor deck with stunning views over Porthminster beach

Clean and Modern with a stunning view

This property was perfect for our requirements. We had an artist coming to St Ives to work with us, who needed somewhere central, but quiet. The apartment was clean, modern and despite being on the main street, high enough that it was away from any noise. Being a penthouse apartment, it also has the most stunning view of the harbour and across the bay, which our guest enjoyed immensely. The host / owner, Laura was really friendly, accommodating and her contact was clear and instructive. Thank you so much, we wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Apartment With A View

What a FAB find... the views were amazing once in & opened the bi-folding balcony doors... and definitely a plus with every thing else that was within the apartment... from a comfortable bed to the the amazing 'Ts' that you could buy & indulge !! (normal 'T' was in a caddy with also coffee & sugar for your helping)... all instructions were given... eventually !! Although communication/response time was a bit....!!(Hmmm).. s l o w !!... with the owner to say the least.. .. think I should of dealt with 'Martin' ? as he responded immediately ! (that was the only downside before & during to our stay... & 'V'ery frustrating @ times)...WIFI hmmmm did I need it (yep)... as for some when away work does crop up & needs to be dealt with, without intrusion/distraction from others, but all in all & saying that, everything within the apartment ticked our boxes ... the location the amenities the cleanness the fresh look... & the soft toilet paper...Even the Cream 'T' of which was left out for upon our arrival... Brill & a nice touch.....

For parking we had used 'StIves secure car park' for the week which was only a 20min walk back downhill after unloading our baggage (You will get !! instructions to parked up in Fore Street opposite the entrance to the apartment..which is located to left hand side To 'LaffKids' !! & The 'Cella Bistro')... we would definitely use this service well as the amazing Penthouse. ....

Ps... Always remember to leave your shoes @ the bottom of the final stairs case !!! ??

Sorry that I was slower than Martin in responding but as you say we did sort everything. also apologies that during you stay and the wifi wasn't as reliable and fast as we would like. Currently talking to provider to get this remedied, although St Ives and Cornwall in general are a bit go slow in comparison with the rest of the UK, but yes, important for those who need to work during their holiday. The stunning view is just the icing on the cake

Just returned from a wonderful week away in St Ives with my wife and daughter, made all the more special thanks to Laura and her amazing apartment. We could not have wished for better accommodation for our holiday.

They say location is everything, and this is located on the main shopping street right in the heart of St Ives with all the shops, bakeries and restaurants you could want a few steps from the door. With the Seafood Café on one side and the Cellar Bistro on the other, the deli opposite and the Rum and Crab shack down the alleyway that runs alongside we weren't short of spectacular places to eat. The alleyway provides a route straight onto the harbour front so you really are in the heart of everything.

The apartment itself is very clean, very comfortable and tastefully furnished. As a family of three we were a little apprehensive about the size and comfort of the second bedroom before we arrived, particularly as there were no photos on the site, but Laura told us not to worry and that our daughter would be sure to love it, and she was absolutely right. The bedroom was perfect - a very comfortable mattress under a small porthole window through which my daughter could watch her new feathery friend "Steven Seagull" stroll past every evening.

The bathroom was very clean with a lovely powerful shower. The kitchen well appointed, although we didn't make much use of it (did I mention the restaurants?). The washing machine came in very handy though.

The living room area has a huge corner settee to relax on after a hard day's paddling and eating, where you can watch one of the supplied dvd's on the huge TV (my daughter recommends Paddington). Although to watch TV you would have to tear your eyes away from the completely awesome view through the sliding balcony doors. St Ives truly is a picture postcard town and this apartment affords you what must be one of the best views of the iconic harbour and pier. I purposefully woke early on several mornings just to watch the sun rise over the harbour. I'm getting wistful just thinking about it!

Finally, a huge thanks to Laura for making us feel so welcome. There was really nothing we needed, but I know that if there was then Laura would have been on hand to provide it.

I thoroughly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in St Ives - just not when we are planning to revisit :-)

A wonderful apartment with a fantastic view right in the heart of St Ives. Very well eqipped. The entrance to the apartment is on Fore street where there are plenty of lovely gift shops , tea rooms etc. We would highly recommend this apartment.

Wonderful. Suits the whole feel of St.Ives

I find it difficult to add to the existing 5 star comments of this penthouse. However, I'll try.

The location is just amazing. If you've ever been to St.Ives before you will know Fore St. as it's main shopping street; the entrance is on this street. We stayed during the festival which meant that street entertainment was just outside the front door: music, dance, moving 'statues' (as you'll see in Covent Garden).

We had a wonderful time. The sun shone; we saw Seth Lakeman in the Guildhall; we bought a painting from the Millenium Gallery; we ate out every night and breakfast too, most days. Just the two of us.

A strange thing. We only took the car out once, and then missed St. Ives so much, we came back again within about 3 hours. St. Ives is a magical place.

I would recommend the taxi service as does Laura, the owner of the property. I've thanked them separately as they were so good. Laura herself was very helpful and kind. I booked late so had to pay the whole rent up-front direct to her. I received the keys, sent directly to my house without any problem, and with several emails informing me what was happening. Thank you Laura.

Absolutely recommended.
