Your hosts Neil and Joann have lived in this location for the past 23 years.
Neil is an expat hailing from Britain and has resided in The Bahamas since 1979.
Joann is Bahamian and is from Governor's Harbour, Eleuthera being a teacher, professor and ceramic artist.
Neil Behagg purchased this cottage in 2011
We developed this property from a vacant site on the old 'Sir Harry Oakes' property in a quiet residential area.
The house and garden are a natural setting using the slope of the land to advantage we have retained the effect of cool breezes and natural aspects of the site.
I've stayed with my spouse in the studio so while ago (more than a year!) that I can't even select the right date when writing this review. For some reasons I wasn't able to write the review right after the stay, then it slipped out of my head and I was able to remember about it only when I was away from PC, etc., etc., etc. So, Neil, sorry for the delay, but I hope later is better than never here :)
The main reason I still think that I have to write it is because Neil is a super good host - very polite, responsive and kind. For example, we didn't rent a car and he gave us his cell and offered to give us a ride from the beach and grocery store if we needed it! I would like to thank him for this, because it probably sounds very trivial, but can be hard to find nowadays.
Overall, the studio is well located, a bit away from the shore, but short walk didn't bother us at all. We felt very safe here. There is a back yard with lime and coconut trees (fruits of which we were allowed to eat - aka local organic :)).
We found everything we needed in the studio and in my opinion it's a perfect place for the price, so if you are not looking for top expensive luxury spot - this one is highly recommended!
We recently stayed at this studio for two weeks and it was a perfect spot for our holiday. The rental was far enough away from the tourist crowds but close to Cable beach and some lovely little restaurants and shops. We didn't end up renting a car, but we found the walking nice. The bus service was also great, making it easy to go to downtown Nassau. Having access to a kitchen was great, and there was a nice supermarket nearby, which made stocking up easy. The apartment was spotless and well-equipped. They provided us with fresh sheets and towels regularly. Neil was a great help to us during our holiday and even took us grocery shopping twice to help us get food and water and lent us a cell phone to make calling a taxi driver that much easier. He also drove us down the coast , pointing out beaches to check out. Neil went above and beyond what we expected, and we were happy to have chosen his rental for our trip. Thanks again for everything, best wishes!
We were honeymooners who had ended up with a bad hotel. We contacted Neil after our first night in Nassau and he was able to accommodate us on the same day! He recommended we get a car and he was the perfect host. Providing beach towels, fresh linens, giving us maps and advising us of the local hot spots. We stayed for 9 nights and literally carved out our little piece of paradise in this studio. Neil thank you so much for turning our honeymoon around!
We recently stayed at the unit and it was great .the location , the tranquility, the owners, everything was just as seen and described. Most of the best beaches are close and to be able to cook at home we saved alot of money .The grocery store is very close also. The deck was awesome . The owner Neil was fabulous to deal with answering my many questions. The condo is a great price and in a very nice location ,I would highly recommend this place to anyone
This studio is in a perfect spot! Clean, well maintained and has all one needs on a vacation. It is located in nice, clean and safe upscale neighborhood. Short drive to all the spots one would like to visit while in Nassau, but secluded enough to avoid the tourism and the crowds of the cruise liners and the resorts. One lovely and our "to go to" beach, Cable Beach, is just down the hill from the studio. We were able to visit all other beautiful spots from here and still spent half a day on the beach. Easy access to: Compass Point, Paradise Beach, Cabbage Beach, downtown, and the airport. Neil and Joann are very lovely people, always being there when we needed. Thank you for all your help and advice! Thank you also for creating such a peaceful garden that we enjoyed every morning! It was truly restful waking up to the fresh cool air and birds singing in the palm trees. We loved having our breakfast under the lime tree every morning.
This little studio was exactly what my boyfriend and I needed: it was comfortable, homey, well-furnished, and easy to keep clean. It's in a very nice neighborhood away from the resorts and touristy parts of Nassau, and we felt like we had a very authentic Bahamian experience staying here. The garden was beautiful and extremely relaxing as well! The property is within easy driving distance (and in some cases walking distance) of great restaurants, beaches, and grocery stores. Neil was an excellent resource for us, and beyond accommodating. He provided us with everything that we needed and then some, checked in with us periodically to answer any questions, comments, concerns, or needs, and to ensure that we were enjoying ourselves. He recommended some excellent restaurants and activities including the Anchorage at Arawak Cay and a day trip to Rose Island. We highly recommend the property, and if we ever make it back to Nassau, we would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks again Neil!
Quiet residential area with access to beaches, grocery and other shopping, historic sites and only 20 minutes from the airport (by car).
Must see the historic Fort Charlotte, the old jail building and downtown Nassau.
