The love of nature and desire to be near water with peaceful surroundings has always been a dream of mine. After living in Ma all my life, I moved here to the beautiful Adirondacks in 2009 with my husband Doug.

Doug and I enjoy the challenge of finding undesirable properties in dire need of rehabbing. It must have the right location though. We somehow have seen their potential, where most would have run away..fast!
When we first looked at this neglected, overgrown property with a poorly laid out, run down cabin, we excitedly began brainstorming on how to transform this ugly duckling into the peaceful, charming beauty it is now. The bigger the challenge the greater our motivation. With a lot of ideas, hard work, some hired carpenters when the tasks were just too much. the dream was complete. The final result..a cozy, rustic, yet updated cabin with an exceptional view of the Sacandaga River.
We did all that while our home, and jobs were in MA. We lived in MA, but our hearts longed for the day we could make Northville (Benson) NY our home. Well...long story short, in 2009 we sold our home in MA and moved into the cabin while our home next door was being built. Ten months later we moved out of the cabin into our new home.
The cabin was just too special to not share with others so we decided to offer it as a vacation rental. Now into it's 5th successful year, our many very pleased, happy guests long to return. The numerous comments left in our guest book along with the rave reviews on the Home Away site speak for themselves.
We strive to make vacations for each of our guests special, while creating wonderful memories, which will leave our guests longing to return! The many amenities along with it's appealing, comfortable furnishings, peaceful river views with nature surrounding the cabin make this a unique vacation destination.
We welcome you to experience this wonderful exceptionally cozy, romantic cabin as so many guests have already!
The property is absolutely adorable. Beautifully decorated in the adirondack style, well maintained. Cheryl and Doug were there to help us with whatever we needed. The studio is nicer than the pictures. There is everything you need for a comfortable stay. The bed was so comfortable! The furnishings were not of the cheap and old you usually find in a rental. Instead, fluffy pillows, beautiful comforter, leather couch, nice towels. They did an amazing job of making this a perfect, cozy romantic get-away. We drove about an hour to Lake George where we went on a 2 1/2 hr. boat ride along the lake for $25. Then another day in Lake George for a music festival. We drove another day to Saratoga and went to the Saratoga Winery (very nice winery). They are both about 25 miles (in different directions) but the roads are winding along the lake and take more time. However, the rides are beautiful and fun. I could see riding a motorcycle on them. Overall, our stay was very comfortable and couldn't have asked for more.
My husband and I stayed at the studio for a weekend. It was fantastic! Doug was there to greet us and kindly showed us around. They thought of everything! He also gave some great recommendations for places to eat and things to do. The studio itself was very clean and beautifully decorated with an Adirondack theme! You will need a car to go places, but things aren't too far of a drive away. Very limited to no cell service in some of the spots but it is not too challenging to find service, especially at Doug and Cheryl's. Overall it was a wonderful trip and we hope to go back again! Thank you Doug and Cheryl!
We had an extremely relaxing four days enjoying Doug and Cheryl's studio apartment above their garage. We went there strictly for R and R and did absolutely NOTHING, which was the idea - reading, knitting, talking, sleeping, and staring off into space while sitting on the idyllic little balcony (my husband's favorite spot). We badly needed the peace and quiet. Cheryl and Doug have thought of every convenience. The bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is spacious. The little kitchenette had enough equipment that we ate breakfast and lunch there and went out to dinner at night. My husband kept saying, this place is perfect! (And I am quite sure there is a ton to do if you are more adventurous that we felt.:)
We had the most amazing time at this studio! We were only there 2 nights and were upset to have to leave. The location is so quiet and beautiful. Gorgeous view of the river and we would spend hours in the morning and evening on the balcony watching the hummingbirds play. We didn't get the pleasure of meeting Cheryl but spoke with Doug. He was very nice and helpful. He recommended White Face Mountain since we were headed to Lake Placid for the day. We took the scenic route, which everything is scenic up there. Just beautiful drive and White Face Mountain has some of the best views you'll ever see. It was just an amazing stay. It was nice to come back from driving all day to this studio. It's very large and has alllll the comforts of home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back!
Beautiful property, clean and comfortable, cozy mountain home decor. This was a relaxing place to vacation on the river with swimming and trails nearby. The Gregors are friendly, wonderful hosts. We loved our stay!
My husband and I were looking for a place to relax and unwind. We love to kayak and enjoy nature. The Eagle's Nest River Retreat was the perfect place. Doug and Cheryl created a cozy studio apartment with every possible amenity for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed our time there and would return in the future.
Located in the foothills of the Adirondacks in the town of Benson. This studio/suite has a great location over looking the Sacandaga River and is on a quiet dead end road. Hike right from this studio/suite to a beautiful waterfall 1/2 mile away, or through the woods to a beaver pond about 1 mile away. There are many hiking trails close by for easy to challenging hikes.
Winter season is quite beautiful and Lapland Lake cross country ski resort is only 6 miles away.
Oak mountain down hill skiing is 30 minutes away
