Private cabin within walking distance to the Trinity River
About Lisa Harper
I am a semi-retired veteran and during May through October I'm also a baking vendor at the local farmer's markets, specializing in Greek and American delicacies (also available to guests!). If you ask ahead or during your stay, I can also personally provide guests guided kayak trips, lunches and fishing/kayak shuttling services. You'll find that the cabin has lots of information on area recreation opportunities and the best places around the area to visit.
Lisa Harper purchased this Cabin in 2013
Why Lisa Harper chose Douglas City
This property is beautiful and serene and right on the river. I love to kayak, grow my own organic produce and consider myself a foodie and wine lover. I love this property and you will too; no congestion, pollution or stress. I love to provide guests with a memorable experience by providing high quality amenities so they will want to return again and again.
What makes this Cabin unique
Overall comfort and provisions for little details to make guests' stay wonderful. The cabin has very comfortable, high quality, seasonal bedding, all kitchen and bath essentials, homemade baked goodies, bikes, outdoor games (corn hole), indoor board games, inner tubes, rafts and swim noodles, and resources for raft and kayak rentals through the owner and/or nearby rafting companies. The area around the cabin is very quiet and peaceful, with beautiful views of the mountains, open wilderness, wildlife, and the river.

Cozy, relaxing, peaceful
This cabin was beautiful. It had a very cozy and warm feeling. It was the perfect weekend get away for me to unplug, explore nature, and relax. I would definitely stay here again and hope to do so soon! I arrived to a nice note and some cookies from the owner. There were games, movies, books for any downtime. The location was in between multiple sites that were perfect for hiking and exploring. The bed was very comfortable and I feel so relaxed and rested.
Thank you Destinee. I'm so glad you had a nice stay and hope you return in the future! Lisa
Great Place to stay.
Great place to stay. Nice and quite and well stocked. We will stay again.
Comfy cabin in the woods
Loved our stay in the cabin--only wish it was longer. Remote location, but also close to some small towns with great restaurants. Amazing lakes and rivers make for unlimited adventures. Lisa, the owner, was great to deal with and very detail-oriented, right down to the cold beers in the fridge waiting for our arrival. She also left a loaf of homemade banana bread that was amazing. The cabin is extremely well equipped with everything you'd need in the kitchen and bathroom. Furnishings were comfortable and the cabin has a nice porch to enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktail. Looking forward to a longer stay on our next trip!
Thank you Marc--I'm so glad you had a nice stay and hope you return soon :) Lisa
My wife, 2 dogs and I were out celebrating our 20th anniversary and we had a great time. The cabin was clean and wonderful when we arrived. The neighborhood was quiet and spacious. The river was beautiful as was the overall scenery. Lisa was responsive to my messages and helpful. Our stay was very pleasant and satisfying. Two things renters need to be aware of are 1. The river is not actually outside of the cabin you're staying in. The cabin you're staying in is across the street so I found some of the pictures to be a tad misleading. Also, the wifi is limited so you have to be careful to use it sparingly. Just a heads up. Those two things aside we had a great visit.
Thank you Darnell. Yes, the river is across the street and while it is on the same property the description states it is a walk away. Maybe I will re-arrange the pictures because I don't want to mislead people into thinking it is on the river. And, because this is a mountainous area, I also ask guests to "disconnect" for a little while during their stay so they can enjoy the outdoors. The internet is strong, but yes, the package I have is limited and this is also described in the listing. This will be changing after my contract is up this year. I'll be going with a carrier with unlimited Internet which will be great.
Super clean cabin on the Trinity river
My wife and I spent a week in this cabin and were very pleased. Twenty years renting homes, and this was one of the cleanest and best stocked homes we have been in. The beds were comfortable, as was the furniture. Although in the nineties the entire week, the A/C kept the place cool and comfortable. Lisa, the owner, came and met us and was a very friendly woman, and even sent us a plate full of delicious nachos on our last evening. Overall, we highly recommend this VRBO home!
We had a great week here. The cabin is extremely clean and inviting. The kitchen is perfect if you plan to cook-having everything you might need. The bathroom is all stocked with items that you might have forgotten. There are toys for the kids and plenty of dvd’s and board games. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back.
Thanks Nikki--it was so nice to be able to get to meet your entire family and I hope you all return soon--so glad you had a great time.
