Come stay with us in our 3BR/1BA barn house at the top of Gilbert Hill, historic site of America's first ski tow (no longer functional, of course!). We are two miles from Woodstock Village, at the end of a private country road, with wonderful views of the Prosper Valley. Interior is recently refinished and furnished, with great hiking, biking, snowshoeing and sledding right outside the front door -- and the best of Woodstock outdoor and indoor activities and amenities within minutes drive.
Love staying in this spacious yet cozy barn. Wonderful views and peaceful surroundings keep us coming back. Helps that downtown Woodstock is a short drive and that Quechee is close too.
Gilbert Hill is a nice getaway. It has a cozy atmosphere with a beautiful view of the surrounding hills from the living room. It works well for a family with children who don't mind sharing one bathroom. The location is a short drive into the lively small town of Woodstock and the scenic trails of Mount Tom.
The barn was warm and welcoming! The owners were extremely helpful and sweet. The pictures don't do it justice. Such a cozy place to stay. I would definitely recommend it to friends and we can't wait to revisit again!
It was an absolute pleasure staying in this clean and beautifully presented barn. The light shone through the plentiful windows and the view from the living areas was spectacular. The owners live close by and were very helpful and kind. There is use of the owners' slide and zip wire for on site entertainment and nearby Woodstock has plenty to offer. We went to the Vermont institute of natural science to meet the raptors, to Billings farm, and to the quechee gorge (where we enjoyed a chilly swim!). All three were great fun for us adults and for our one year old too (minus the swim). I would not hesitate to recommend the property and we hope to return.
* Great Views! From the big open kitchen and living area, you can see out across a broad valley to some beautiful hills. We were there in the summer but would be great in leaf season as well.
* Convenient to Woodstock. Short drive to the town, national park, national forest and other state parks and skiing.
* Great family destination. Barn is pretty close to the owner's house (prob 25 yards) so you can take advantage of their amenities like a zipline and tree house (great for kids). There is a fun kids room with lots of books.
The barn was great! So much fun, clean, interesting and in a beautiful setting. We had a great time playing around on the zipline out back. Thanks to the gracious hosts!
