had a blast, nice place, very quiet.
Nice property in the country. Close to the river. Good for canoeing.
House was comfortable for 8 adults and 3 kids. Beds were fine. The pull out couch however was not! Really not useable. Kitchen was pretty well equipped. Hot tub, great! Fire pit, great! Canoe, great!
Beautiful, quiet and close to National Park
Our family used this as a home base for hiking and exploring the Shenandoah National Park. It was very comfortable, the wifi is fast, which is a plus for the teenagers, and it is just a beautiful place to sit on the porch and relax or build a fire and roast some s'mores. We did have trouble figuring out how to get to the river once we finally decided to walk down there, so some more detailed instructions on which gate to open and which direction to walk in order to get around the bottom fence might be a good addition to the map in the book. A 9x13 casserole dish would be good too:)
We had an amazing time at the river house!
The River House was great! It was the perfect place for our family to have a mini vacation. It's location was perfect. The quiet and stillness was exactly what we needed after my husbands deployment. We will definitely come again. The house was clean and well maintained. Before we left we were able to take the canoe out on the river and soak up the nature. We can't wait to come again and may even look into a summer stay:) thank you for sharing your lovely home with us
nice house in the country close to slopes
small but cute house. very scenic and quiet location on the river. easy 15-minute drive to Massanutten resort. would stay again and recommend to all.
Cancelled reservation less than 24 hours before check-in
My friends and I were beyond excited to meet up for a much needed post Christmas getaway, but our reservation was cancelled by the property owner less than 24 hours before our check-in time. I messaged the property manager today to confirm check-in instructions and received an immediate response with the answer to my questions. About an hour or so later I received a phone call from the property manager that the owner had an "unexpected life event" and has to cancel all reservations for this week. I was offered a future extended reservation at no additional charge or a refund. The property manager told me she tried to find somewhere else for us to stay, but due to such short notice she wasn't able to find anything. She was very kind and apologetic and based on her statements, this was out of her control. I had to accept the refund due to not knowing the schedules of the other people on the trip and also because of the short notice of the cancellation. It is far too late for us to secure other lodging and we've had to cancel our trip altogether. It is hard for me to understand what sort of life event would be cause for cancellation of a rental that is managed by a property manager and is not a primary place of residence.
The Riverhouse is perched atop a hill with river front views and private access to the river. Stroll along a winding private path watch wild life and enjoy nature. The property is centrally located among several 'Must See' Shenandoah Valley attractions. Luray Caverns, Skyline Drive National Park, The Shenandoah River to name only a few. The Shenandoah Valley offers 4 season recreational activities such as, Fishing, Skiing, Golfing, Bird & Wildlife Watching, Craft Fairs and Festivals, Shopping, Gourmet Dining, Sight Seeing, Hiking, Antiques, Wine and Vineyard Tours, Balloon Rides, Airport and small plane access. The nearby towns of Elkton, Luray ,Harrisionburg, Charlottesville and New Market are all worth visiting for their historic, shopping and dining opportunity.
