Modernized cabin with end of the road privacy

  • 5 of 5

We stayed three nights just as the mountain colors were starting to appear. This appears to be a classic Vermont log cabin with a significant cabin-style wing added on in more recent years. Although we were only a couple, the place would have slept two families comfortably. The location is exactly what we were looking for: private, quiet, with uninterrupted views toward the southern mountains, and nearly abutting the Camels Hump State Park -- a worthwhile peak which we climbed during our stay. Ouch! Fortunately unwinding on the cabin deck watching the sunset colors unfold eased the pain. The kitchen was modernized but still with it's rustic farmhouse feel, and well stocked with everything we could need. The nearest significant town is Waterbury, 30 minutes away, where all necessary provisions are available, as well as good dining options -- but we chose to cook at the cabin at night and sit by the gas fireplace.

Charming Log Cabin

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here with two of our friends and our two labs. As soon as I stepped inside, I fell in love with the place! It is so cozy, comfortable, and charming! We especially loved all the exposed wood, the gas fireplace, and the clawfoot tub! There are great views from the backyard (and from almost every room in the house), and it feels very private. We enjoyed walking the XC ski trails (sadly there was no snow during our visit), which were accessible right from the backyard. It is a close drive to Richmond, and even Burlington and Stowe are only about 45 mins away. We skiied at Bolton Valley, which was only about 20 mins away. Overall, we had an amazing time and enjoyed staying here very much. The house was stocked with everything we needed and Chaska was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. We can't wait to come back again next year!

This place is amazing. So peaceful. A slice of heaven! Chaska was awesome leading up to the trip. Very flexible, accommodating and kind! We went for a wedding at the West Monitor Barn and it was a perfect weekend celebrating with family and friends. We loved watching the stars, picking flowers, walking the trails and cooking in her awesome kitchen. Perfect place to have kids. Lots of toys and little chairs and fun books and puzzles!! Our dogs enjoyed it too!!!! Brought home some of their made on the farm maple syrup and we enjoy it with fond memories often! Yum! Can't wait to go back.

Mountain views spectacular

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin for the week of my daughter's wedding held at West Monitor Barn in Richmond, a convenient 20 minute ride away. Richmond has a great co-op and fine restraurant called Sonoma station, that alone was worth the trip. We could not have chosen a more perfect place. The ride up to the cabin is not for the weak at heart, but we adjusted quickly. It is super peaceful, spectacular views, clean and very comfortable, with all the amenities. The bridal party stayed the night before the wedding and the photographer took advantage of the incredible views to capture what I hope will be amazing pictures. We did not want to leave this little piece of heaven, and plan on a return trip. Thank you!!!

Excellent Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

Yesterday, we finished our Thursday through Sunday stay at the cottage. What a lovely place to relax and get away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The weather didn't always cooperate, but we made the best of it.

There is a large island in the kitchen with a butcher block top. Perfect for gathering as a family and rolling out dough for making homemade personal pizzas. We brought our own groceries and some specialty items, but the lazy Susan was stocked with spices, coffee filters, condiments and little items that were left from previous guests (sauce, pasta, etc). There are plenty of cooking pots and pans along with items like cheese grater, spatulas, serving utensils, etc. There are drawers containing paper goods, cloth napkins and table cloths.

The living room is perfect for the vast selection of books (both for the young and old) along with board games. We gathered as a family and had some fantastic bonding time without electronics. Open all the windows for a cross breeze that will make you realize you are in a special spot atop the mountains.

The rooms are nicely appointed and had the perfect "cottage" touch. The claw foot tub was amazing and I took a few soaks with a nice glass of wine.

The upstairs library had a great selection of DVDs and VHS tapes (They have a tv with built in dvd and vhs player) It was another great spot to sit and read under the skylight.

When the weather cleared we enjoyed having a bbq on the gas grill provided and we played an impromptu game of "baseball" with some sporty items in the closet. The firepit was so nice to relax next to at night (wood provided by the homeowner)

After day one, we knew we would be back here again and again.

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to stay here.

A wonderful woodland cabin in beautiful Vermont

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the lodge with my husband, sister, and mom, and we had a wonderful long weekend just as the colors were getting towards peak. The lodge was perfect - so warm and cosy, with an incredible view, especially at sunset. The kitchen is great and the bedrooms/bathrooms were fantastic. Chaska was very helpful. One tip: if you're getting in late after the long drive from NYC, you may want eat on the way or bring food for dinner with you, since there aren't many restaurants nearby open after 9pm. We had such a great stay and would love to come back!

Gorgeous, private location, surrounded by fields and woods. Enjoy walking on the mowed paths and trail network in the summer, or skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. Huntington is home to Camel's Hump, Vermont's second highest mountain. The trail is located minutes from Littlefield Farm. If you prefer a less rigorous hike, you'll enjoy the lovely trails at our local Audubon Center, or the river walk paths at the recreation field.

Our small town also boasts a vineyard, artisan bakery, micro brew pub and several organic poultry, lamb and beef farms. If you visit in the spring, you'll see steam rising from the many sugar houses throughout Huntington. Our sugar farmers welcome visitors to stop and sample the local syrup.

There are frequent, locally organized music festivals and athletic events. Be sure to also explore the Huntington River and its many beautiful swimming holes.
