You'll love it - We are consistently rated the best place on the island at this price point - check out our hundreds of reviews to see.

Water's Edge is a wonderful private villa with 130 feet of oceanfront and all the modern amenities that ensure your home from home. This luxury private 2800 sq foot villa on the serene eastern end of Nassau is the perfect escape for your family. Enjoy lounging in a hammock on the huge back patio with panoramic views of Athol and Rose Island and cool down in our private, crystal clear, private fresh water pool with soothing fountain. The pool has just been re-surfaced!

Open the back gate and step down into the ocean for a swim, or row our dinghy out a few hundred feet to snorkel the many surrounding reefs. Or if the ocean is not for you then relax in our freshwater pool that overlooks the ocean. Spend evenings sipping Bahama Mamas seated at the outdoor wet bar and grill the fish you caught on our stone charcoal grill. We even have our own Margaritaville Navigator drinks maker.

Brew a cup of coffee in the recently renovated kitchen with stainless steel appliances. Count the sailboats on the ocean from the expansive shower in the new master bathroom. The house includes 4 bedrooms, all with Queen Beds (one room is an attic room) and can sleep up to 8 people. All the beds have been recently renewed. All linens and towels included. There is a slightly sunken formal dining room overlooking the beautiful front patio with local flora and fauna and a relaxing sun-room overlooking the ocean with a cozy reading area and casual dining section.

Open the french doors leading to the back patio and a very large central living space enjoys the cooling eastern breezes throughout the year. Also outside is brick BBQ grill and covered wet bar and drinks area - perfect for evening cocktails.

What makes Water's Edge the ultimate rental? We provide Cable TV, Boom Box, IPad/IPhone player, free WIFI broadband throughout the property for those guests who may need to stay connected while in Paradise. A dinghy and snorkeling equipment are provided for your enjoyment. We also provide a phone for local calls to make reservations and inquiries at no charge. Enjoy the privacy of the 'non-tourist' area with easy access to exploring the rest of what Nassau has to offer. We also have optional daily housekeeping (additional costs apply), plus catering and massage services if desired. Additional nights are priced at $600 per night.

I can recommend Joe, our taxi driver, if all group transport requirements. Also, it is a short 10-12 minutes drive to the Atlantis Resort but we believe that once you set foot in Water's Edge, you won't feel the need to go anywhere else.

About Mark Cabrelli

Water's Edge is owned by the Cabrelli family. We enjoyed living in our beautiful home for 5 years before deciding to take our daughter on a traveling adventure. We now live in the Florida, USA.

Mark Cabrelli purchased this villa in 2007

Why Mark Cabrelli chose Eastern Road

After Mark worked in the Bahamas on a contract we fell in love with Nassau. We chose Water's Edge after an extensive search as we were looking for a traditional Bahamian home with modern amenities directly on the ocean with a private freshwater pool.

Nassau teems with Bahamian and British flavor. The capital of The Bahamas boasts miles of spectacular beaches and stretches of vivid coral reefs perfect for snorkeling. Dance to calypso music, savor fried crab or play dominos with locals in the diverse city. Don't leave without also learning about the country's interesting past. Shop, dine and sightsee, particularly along busy Bay Street, or if you're a James Bond fan, visit the many movie sites. The town retains many of its characteristic pastel-colored British colonial buildings, including pink-hued Government House. Visit during the famed Junkanoo Festival (Christmas and New Year, also once in the Summer) to experience a high-energy parade of spectacularly costumed dancers.

What makes this villa unique

We knew as soon we walked out of the back patio doors and saw that amazing view that Water's Edge was a unique and wonderful place. The private pool is a fabulous thing to be used throughout the year. We fell in love with the sunrises (something to behold), the Abaco pine beams in the cathedral ceilinged, living room, the hummingbirds that visit and the ocean breeze that cools the home throughout the year.

We can also offer catering (meals and chef services) and massage services. Plus, Joe, our taxi guy, can provide all group transport.

Although the villa is not on any public transport route, we do recommend using our taxi guy, Joe. He is a great guy who we have working with for years. He is reliable, knowledgeable and, importantly, trustworthy. He can accommodate all guest (up to 8) in his minivan. He is available for airport pick-up and other trips throughout your stay. Language Bahamians speak English with a Bahamian twist. This can be difficult to understand at first if local people are speaking quickly but you will pick it up! Bahamians should have no trouble understanding you. Currency The Bahamian dollar is on par with the US dollar and both currencies can be used here. Bahamian dollars cannot be exchanged at foreign banks so try to use up or trade back any of your remaining Bahamian currency before you leave. Roads Bahamians drive on the left. Be sure to allow for this when crossing the road. Many streets do not have sidewalks and there is no designated side for walking on.

We loved it. One of the best vacations we have had as a family. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, this house gave us exactly what we needed to unplug, connect with each other, reflect on our experiences and have loads of fun. The view from the patio is unparalleled.

Owner's Response: Thanks guys for the brill review! We are so glad that you found everything in the villa as it should be. The view over the ocean is spectacular - it is actually what made us fall in love with the villa and Nassau when we bought the house. I know that you had the chance to get up early and see the fantastic sunrise in the morning. We are always here - please come back and visit again sometime. Regards, Mark & Lisa

Great Place

Great place to stay when in the Bahamas! The pictures don’t do the place justice and the outdoor living area is fantastic. This is now the only place we’ll stay while in the Bahamas.

Thanks Mark and Marsha for a great vacation.

Above Expectations!

  • 4 of 5

The house is laid out very nicely with a main bedroom with en-suite bathroom on one side and two beds sharing a bath on the other side of the house nicely removed from each other for privacy. A fourth bedroom and half bath are in the loft. Plenty of room! There is a beautiful dining room as well as a dining/breakfast area toward the water, outside dining seating on both the front and back patios.

The house exceeds the photos if that can be believed! The front patio is huge and very pleasant. It’s sheltered from the wind off the water. The back patio on the water is beautiful – but has levels and steps . . . don’t text and walk! For some reason the photos don’t convey how spacious the rooms and patios are.

Some tips:

• A squeegee to clean the windows (from ocean saltwater) would help. Windex and paper towels made a huge difference, but a squeegee would be easier to quickly clean the windows.

• It can get cold! Just because it’s the Bahamas doesn’t mean you won’t need a sweatshirt or windbreaker. Throws on the sofas would be cozy. Extra blankets in a closet would be nice, too.

• Kitchen well stocked with basics. If you are making a special recipe, there’s a good chance the spices are here.

• The light switches can be a bit of a mystery. Some labels identifying what they control would be helpful.

Apparently the water is rough from December to March, so no calm waters to do snorkeling off the property. Wind and waves were substantial, noisy and fun to watch. There is a “private beach” just 100 feet east of here and if you are creative, you’ll find a way in. It has sandy spots great for wading/swimming – even if it’s rough. If it had been warmer and calmer, we would definitely have spent more time snorkeling and getting in the water. The inflatable dingy is super sturdy, but guests assume the risk of puncture or damage, so launching it off the property in anything but still waters would be risky. The edge is coral and dangerous looking although there is a ramp in one area.

Taxis – Joe and his team are phenomenal. They have the best vehicles, are the most well-dressed and professional of any taxis we took. But be advised, the house is out of the way and a minimum of $35 for a one-way trip into Nassau or the other destinations. This is the only downside to staying here. When considering tours, dinner out, etc., add on at least $70 – 80 for transportation. That said, the drivers are very thoughtful and considerate.

Owner's Response: Hi Guys - thanks for the great review. Although, that is the first time I have ever heard a comment about it being cold in The Bahamas; LOL. Just in case, I'll put throws on the list for maintenance. Also, my team is fabulous and Joe (my taxi guy), in particular, always gets the accolades form my guests. As you say, the villa is extremely spacious especially the main living room with the vaulted cathedral ceiling. I should make a point of that in my description. Hopefully, you will be able to come back in the future to enjoy again - the snorkeling off the patio is really splendid. Regards, Mark & Lisa

Wonderful family vacation at Water's Edge

  • 5 of 5

January week stay with family of 4 couples with infant and thoroughly enjoyed stay at Waters Edge. Well kept and maintained, beautiful location, and able to get around easily with van we rented from Joe, who provides excellent transportation services to and from the airport as well. Facilities at Waters Edge are all wonderful, plenty of room for all, and ample grocery stores nearby to get most anything you need easily.

Great house! Highly recommended.

  • 5 of 5

We've had the pleasure of renting several houses through VRBO but none better than Water's Edge. The house is very comfortable, well equipped, a great location, and a view that simply doesn't stop. We were there with our married son (and daughter-in-law), 22 yr old son, and 15 yr old daughter. Everyone had plenty of space and there were plenty of bathrooms.

We cooked most of our own meals and the house had everything we needed. The wifi was the best I've ever had outside my own house - we could stream movies without any problems.

The highlight of the house is the back porch and pool area. If you are a "lay by the pool" person you'll probably never leave the house. If you like to get out and do things, the house is about a 10-12 minute drive from Paradise Island and all the activities and restaurants there.

We're into diving and snorkeling and the snorkeling off the back of the house is pretty good. Getting in and out of the water is a little tricky (it's rocky and a bit slippery) but once you're in the water there are a few nice coral heads about 75 yards off the shore. Some of the fish we saw off the back of the house were bigger than the ones we saw on our offshore dive trips.

My only regret is that Water's Edge doesn't have one more bed/bath so we could come back with the whole family. (there's one more married daughter who didn't make this trip.) It's a great house, a great value, and I highly highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Wow, what a wonderful review - thanks so much. I'm so glad that you enjoyed New Years in Water's Edge. Both New Years and Christmas are special in The Bahamas with the various world famous festivals; especially Junkanoo. It is also great to get a good commendation from "divers" as we value our coral offshore the house and the multitude of fish you see there. I hope you managed to see our 2 resident manta rays off the back wall - they have lived with us there for years. I'm sorry that I can't "make" another bedroom for you guys but, when we have larger groups, I can recommend a great standby close to the villa for additional guests. I hope you get the chance to come back to Water's Edge again sometime in the future. Regards, Mark & Lisa

Water's Edge is situated on the quiet, residential eastern end of the island amongst many other private luxury properties and away from the major (noisy) tourist hubs. You will find many locals out for their morning walk in our area as it is a gorgeous view around the end of the island. It is a short 5 minute drive to downtown Nassau, local restaurants and Paradise Island and Atlantis. The ocean is just a walk down the back steps and you will find many reefs within rowing distance (with our dinghy) and beautiful snorkeling. There are also 2 beaches within swimming and walking distance from the house. The world famous Cabbage Beach (Paradise Island) is a 5-10 minute drive away. There is a local grocery store within walking distance as well.

A well-stocked activity and guidebook is provided in the house as well as maps of the local area. Please check out our customer reviews.
