About Mark Cabrelli

Water's Edge is owned by the Cabrelli family. We enjoyed living in our beautiful home for 5 years before deciding to take our daughter on a traveling adventure. We now live in the USA.

Why Mark Cabrelli chose Nassau & Paradise Island

After Mark worked in the Bahamas on a contract we fell in love with Nassau. We chose Water's Edge after an extensive search as we were looking for a traditional Bahamian home with modern amenities directly on the ocean with a private freshwater pool.

Nassau teems with Bahamian and British flavor. The capital of The Bahamas boasts miles of spectacular beaches and stretches of vivid coral reefs perfect for snorkeling. Dance to calypso music, savor fried crab or play dominos with locals in the diverse city. Don't leave without also learning about the country's interesting past. Shop, dine, and sightsee, particularly along busy Bay Street, or if you're a James Bond fan, visit the many movie sites. The town retains many of its characteristic pastel-colored British colonial buildings, including pink-hued Government House. Visit during the famed Junkanoo Festival (Christmas and New Year, also once in the Summer) to experience a high-energy parade of spectacularly costumed dancers.

What makes this house unique

We knew as soon we walked out of the back patio doors and saw that amazing view that Water's Edge was a unique and wonderful place. The private pool is a fabulous thing to be used throughout the year. We fell in love with the sunrises (something to behold), the Abaco pine beams in the cathedral ceilinged, living room, the hummingbirds that visit and the ocean breeze that cools the home throughout the year.

We can also offer catering (meals and chef services) and message services.

Marvelous Villa, Marvelous Vacation

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful vacation in the sun - we would highly recommend Nassau and this villa in particular. All the amenities in the villa were as described and very clean and fully equipped. The outdoor space is delightful with sun loungers, hammock and pool to enjoy. There is also an outdoor, covered bar which is wonderful for hanging out and sipping cocktails. The owner, Mark, could not have been more helpful providing lots of information and answering questions promptly.

My family and friends felt completely at home at Water's Edge and had a very relaxing time. We also took Mark's recommendations and took a speed boat trip to the deserted Exuma Islands and also have a tremendous day out at Dolphin Encounters where they have a private beach to take it easy on.

We hope to be back again sometime and will certainly keep Water's Edge at the top of our list.

House was Great but would Never go back to Nassau

  • 4 of 5

Water's Edge is lovely. Comfortable beds and ample towels. The linens were a nice quality. Everything is laid out well. We appreciated staying in a 100 year old true Bahamian home. The house is very clean with the exception of the kitchen cabinetry which could use a scrub down...but nothing off-putting. The Master Bath was especially nice.

The outside area is a dream. Or at least it was on one day. The other days we had MASSIVE wind. We could barely open the doors. We could not leave the windows open or the waves would wash into the house. I am told this is unusual and surely the owners are not responsible for the weather, but I kicked myself for choosing the Bahamas in March.

During the several days of wind storms, we were challenged to entertain ourselves. The cable TV was not working. This was a problem with the service provider. There are baskets of DVD's but they are primarily children's movies or older releases. They would have been adequate had we not been trapped for so long by the wind.Additionally, the flat screened TV is small for the viewing space. It was difficult for the five of us to all see it well. Fortunately the internet was good. We enjoyed the games and books.

Because we couldn't get in the water at the house (even the pool had white caps!!!) we were forced to explore the island of Nassau thoroughly. I don't know if it is still recovering from the Hurricane, but every beach and neighborhood we explored was filled with tons of trash.

Sara, the property manager was instantly responsive when we had a minor problem. Joe was a wonderful resource. We rented his van and he also provided taxi service after a night at the casino.

On our last full day the weather was perfect and Water's Edge was a dream. The views, the water, the relaxation were amazing. We were sad to leave. We awoke the next morning and watched a stunning sunrise over still waters. But then.....the smoke rolled in. Toxic fumes from the giant burning dump fire poured into the property. There was a haze over the water and in the house. We could not escape the fumes and started to feel poorly. Fortunately, Joe arrived and whisked us to the airport. Again, this is not the owner's fault, but a quick google search reveals that the massive on-going dump fire is a problem that has literally been "re-igniting" for years on Nassau. I hope it cleared for the arrival of the next guests.

Owner's Response: Hi Guys - I am so glad that you were impressed and enjoyed the villa so much....but I am distressed that you saw Nassau in a lousy light. I see that the dump fire has been in the news lately and is causing problems throughout the island which is terrible - and I know that the intense Government pressure has now resolved this issue - too late for you unfortunately. Also you had rotten luck with the weather as we normally get very calm ocean off Water's Edge. I'm sorry about that - you'll have to come back again as being at the villa during the normally great weather is gorgeous. I promise to work on the wind next time ;-) But I am glad that you enjoyed the amenities in the villa and, hopefully, the huge DVD library helped out. Regards, Mark & Lisa

Trip of a lifetime - can't wait to go back!

  • 4 of 5

The property was amazing! Very spacious with all the amenities. Highlight of the villa was definitely the outdoor space! The only thing that would have made it more perfect would have been private beach access and better internet connections. The property manager was incredible and so helpful. Joe, our taxi service, was awesome too! Highly recommend this VRBO - had a wonderful time!

Everything and more

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed the accommodation - the pool was salt water which was great for the kids and my mom, the snorkelling was excellent and there is two rocks that are full of fish. Loved how we had stingrays swimming in front of use as we sat and enjoyed the sun set. The house is beautiful and fully stocked, very very relaxing, worth the money for sure.

Owner's Response: Hi guys - so glad that you enjoyed the villa. I think you meant to say the pool is Fresh Water though. The rocks off the back of the house are new and have attracted several new and beautifully colored fish. The 2 stingrays have lived off our house for years - they are Ying and Yang. We hope that they are a couple and perhaps with bring some little ones at some point! I hope to see you back at Water's Edge for a restful vacation again some time in the future. Regards, Mark & Lisa

Very Happy With Our Choice!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from our trip to Waters Edge. Overall I would recommend it highly for a small family or some friends looking for a getaway. I would certainly recommend it over simply staying in a hotel or resort room, especially if travelling with children as it forces you to explore the island a little more and get a better feel for the island and its people.

At the recommendation of the owner, we contacted Joe and used his services frequently. We even rented a van from him ! (immaculate and cheaper/more convenient than airport rentals). We traveled with my family including a 2.5 year old and a 6 mo old as well as my parents. All of the amenities were there as described and made the transition seamless. Driving on the opposite side of the road for me was a new experience but quickly learned and getting around the island is pretty easy.

Thus house itself was great. a few technical glitches were encountered but the property manager Sara was quickly responsive to any issue. We had a couple very windy days which made the back patio cooler and the water choppy, but my daughter loved the waves crashing into the break wall on those days! The others were picture perfect and on calm days swimming and snorkeling off the back were fantastic.

We spent one day at the water park at Atlantis and two days on Cabbage Beach. the directions provided in the house were great and the beach was almost empty!! absolutely pristine sand and surf so highly recommended.

Thanks to the Cabrellis for opening their home to us!

The perfect place to unwind and excape the normalcy...

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and perfectly positioned for relaxation. It is far enough away from downtown, but close enough to get to if you want to. Unfortunately we had a wind storm most of the time we were there, but we did get in the water a couple of times, the rest of the time we spent relaxing, reading, playing games, catching up with each other and our friends. We celebrated my wife's birthday and coordinated with Sara to make a cake and subsequently asked her to make a dinner for four at the house. Both Sara and the food was amazing and would highly recommend it. Would definitely do this again and will recommend it to everyone I know.

Owner's Response: I am so glad that you celebrated your wife's birthday in style at Water's Edge. It is very unusual for the wind to come in strongly as it did, but I am happy that you managed to get into the ocean and enjoy the pool. Next time you come back, the weather will be delightful I'm sure. Sara has recently joined our time although I have known her for many years. She is a great baker, chef and masseuse as well as our expert Property Manager. I'm glad she cooked for you and that you were able to sample her home made pasta! Check out the photos on FB: https://www.facebook.com/LuxuryVacationWatersEdge/ Please come back soon and enjoy Water's Edge again. Regards, Mark & Lisa

Water's Edge is situated on the quiet, residential eastern end of the island amongst many other private luxury properties and away from the major (noisy) tourist hubs. You will find many locals out for their morning walk in our area as it is a gorgeous view around the end of the island. It is a short 5 minute drive to downtown Nassau, local restaurants and Paradise Island and Atlantis. The ocean is just a walk down the back steps and you will find many reefs within rowing distance (with our dinghy) and beautiful snorkeling. There are also 2 beaches within swimming and walking distance from the house. The world famous Cabbage Beach (Paradise Island) is a 5-10 minute drive away. There is a local grocery store within walking distance as well.

A well-stocked activity and guidebook is provided in the house as well as maps of the local area. Please check out our customer reviews.
