A private, newly renovated cottage surrounded by trees, mountain stream, fields, and spectacular view of the Presidentials. Abundant wildlife out the windows. Not uncommon to have a moose or bear walk by. You'll enjoy comfortable, restful nights in the serene intimate bedroom on quality bedding, including down and cotton. The adjoining bath provides a shower, fluffy towels, and a hair dryer. Unique architectural details throughout were added to create a cozy environment. The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare simple or elegant meals with adjoining dining and spacious living areas. A collection of local guidebooks, maps and reading materials are provided. We've also compiled a list of our favorite things to do in the area, including hikes, dining, and day trips. Many windows let in natural light, sounds, and clean mountain air. There is a small adjoining deck to sit and have your morning coffee or an evening cocktail.
The adjoining field is a great place for evening stargazing, a campfire, or a picnic under the maple tree with a spectacular view of Mts. Madison & Adams.. Fall foliage is breathtaking, and in winter, snowshoeing and cross country ski trails start right out the front door. Five major downhill ski areas are within an hour's drive. Many amentities within 5 - 60 minute drive. Day trips can include a shopping trip to North Conway, a scenic trip up the Mount Washington Auto Road, canoeing on the beautiful Androscoggin River, adventurous hikes up Mount Madison or Mount Adams, or leisurely hikes on the hundreds of miles of trails in the White Mountain National Forest or the Randolph area maintained by the Randolph Mountain Club. Clear, cool mountain pools nearby for swimming.
I rarely take the time to review things, but the magical experience I shared with my husband (and our two dogs) over this past Christmas, needed to be documented! We stayed at this fabulous, "Hallmark" fashioned cottage from December 23'rd- December 27'th. Not only were we greeted with homemade Christmas cookies, as were our dogs (canine equivalent), a '"Welcome" sign, Larry's very brief, but immediate personal welcome/tutorial with re: the amenities, the area, etc....; but Larry, Yvonne, their daughter, and son-in-law serenaded us with Christmas carols on Christmas day! They were further accompanied by their actual brood of miniature donkeys!!! LOL- my friends and family STILL think I am making thw whole thing up!!!
I could go on-and-on,.....but the key points are as follows: the cottage was completely immaculate (in fact, my allergies are extremely sensitive to mildew, mold, dust, and cats- but I had absolutely no issue- also, my husband's Asthma had been horrible prior to the trip, but it went away during our stay, plus with the extensive hiking we did); and the pictures truly do not do the cottage justice (right down to the lighted Christmas tree that was set up upon our arrival); Larry and Yvonne were NOT intrusive at all (even though they live down the way- out of view fro the cottage); the whole area is quiet, private, and sceluded- you can walk right out the door, straight to the base of the mountain; we loved the older DVD's that were there (wholesome, substantive, varied), which were nice after exhausting ourselves all day; and on-and-on,.....
There were NO NEGATIVES!!! I kind of did not want to write this glowing review, truth be told, as I hope it is available the next time we rent it...Yet, as nothing is completely perfect, the only slight "imperfections" (depending on your tastes, of course): the wi-fi is slow and hit-or-miss, there really is no TV, and although the shower water quality and pressure were fabulous, I personally really apreciate a detachable shower head.
Thank you, Larry and Yvonne! We cannot wait to return again next year!!!

Larry and Yvonne are wonderful hosts! They have a wealth of local knowledge. Even in winter time this place is awesome. Lots of trails going right from the cottage. Very private, relaxing and stress free place to stay. We are planning to return. Thanks so much!
we spent a great 4 days at the little cabin. The best hosts we have ever had! really took it upon them to make sure we found the perfect hikes for us (and our dog, Roo!). Even though we had terrible weather, it was still a great getaway from boston.
Perfect little dog friendly house for a couple looking to get away. Very clean, cozy, and well equipped. Larry was very helpful with suggestions for an easy hike with an amazing view. Two nights was not long enough. Hoping to return in the future!
We had a great two night stay at the Little House for Presidents Day weekend. The owners were extremely welcoming and a fresh loaf of bread was waiting for us on the kitchen counter when we arrived with the fire stove lit. All the essentials for a cozy night. We spent the weekend skiing at Wildcat Mountain and the owners were nice enough to let us borrow a pair of snowshoes to take along some of the Randolph Mountain club trails.
Very nice weekend away in the mountains!
We had a wonderful two night stay at The Little House. It is perfectly cozy and comfortable. It sits on a beautiful piece of land with a lovely view of the mountains. The hosts are welcoming, thoughtful, and authentic. We are sure to return as this is a truly special place!
