About Claire

My husband and I grew up in Massachusetts. Shortly after getting married, we relocated to Connecticut. We have raised three great kids there. Now grown, two of our children live in Massachusetts and one in NYC. Chatham provides an ideal spot where we reconnect and gather to celebrate important events (youngest was married 2016 in Chatham).

We had vacationed on Cape Cod and Maine when our children were young. Our family has grown and now includes 2 sons-in-laws and three grandchildren. This home is the perfect layout for us to relax and enjoy together time . We are certain you will agree. The layout works for multigenerational families, offering space or everyone.

We purchased our home for it's Chatham location to experience the Cape year round. We have enjoyed Chatham's New Years First Night Celebration, the 4th of July Parade and September to October is quickly becoming our favorite time of year with the cranberry harvest festivities and the delightful weather.

Claire purchased this house in 2011

Why Claire chose West Chatham

Our Chatham home is named "Just Right" after

"Goldi Locks and the 3 Bears." It is the perfect size for our family with space for all. The 4 bedrooms and 3 separate reading/TV areas allows for space for the entire family.

This home truly is a multigenerational house for both early to bed and late risers.

The private deck over looking the beautifully landscaped backyards is the ideal location for alfresco dining. The front porch rockers is a great spot under the Pergola to enjoy your morning coffee.

What makes this house unique

Located .7 mile walk to Ridgevale Rd Beach. Our proximity to the beach makes our home ideal for returning home to nap little ones while the remainder of the family continues to enjoy the beach, kayaking and reading.

The bike path is a short ride from our home which offers miles of shady safe trails.

Chatham's ambience mimics Nantucket without the ferry ride. Main Street offers both casual and upscale dining options, boutique shops, great summer baseball and band concerts. There is something for everyone in your group. The Orpheum movie theater is a must visit location.

Chatham's location at the elbow of Cape Cod has the added advantage of making a short ride to experience the surrounding towns from Hyannis to P Town.

Hop the ferry from neighboring Harwichport location which offers free day parking and spend a day sight seeing in Nantucket.

Amazing New Year Holiday

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with our three small children celebrated the New Year enjoying Chatham's First Night Celebration. It is the perfect location to ring in the New Year with a family oriented focus of music, children's activities and outstanding early fireworks.

We were surprised to be greeted by the outside of this home's pergola decorated in fresh green garland and a green door wreath with sand dollars and starfish. The holiday decor continued with a beautiful garland on the mantle along with a coordinated Christmas tree of miniature white lights, starfish and sand dollars.

While there was plenty of restaurants open, we couldn't pass up cooking in the well outfitted kitchen after buying the freshest seafood at the Chatham Fish and Lobster Co. less than a mile from the house.

Our children loved playing in the finished lower level outfitted with the 2nd large TV and its own bathroom. It allowed us to entertain friends in the large kitchen after the kids had eaten. Truly a house that accomadates different age groups as our 2 yr old we put to bed early and older siblings at play didn't wake her.

Beds have lovely warm duvets and the most comfortable mattresses ever.

We enjoyed exploring and walked to Ridgevale Rd Beach via a private path. Easy safe walk for our kids ranging in age 2-8.

We can't wait to visit this home during warmer weather. The owners Claire and Walt are super easy to work with and the house has a binder with all of their favorite places to eat, explore and visit.

The Perfect Get Away!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful vacation at your home. The house was beautiful and in pristine condition. When we cooked in, there were plenty of dishes and cookware for our family of nine. The sunroom was a perfect retreat for reading and hanging out. The back deck provided our family with many happy times that we will always remember. The location of your home was perfect. We could be to the beaches and downtown in five minutes. The house was close enough to civilization, but because of its location we felt as if we were in a secluded sanctuary. The lower level family room was very spacious and provided the perfect haven for our seventeen-month old grand-daughter and her parents. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home with us. We look forward to vacationing there again next year!

You will find everything you could possibly need for cooking, relaxing or going to the beach. The location is perfect - it is close enough to walk to the beach and it is a short ride into town. Perfect Vacation Home in Chatham

  • 5 of 5

We owned our own homes on the Cape for many years, but have since retired to Florida. So, when we decided to get our adult children together for a family vacation in September, Chatham on the Cape was a perfect spot. Claire and Walter's home was far beyond our expectations. Conveniently located close to beaches and downtown, the home is beautifully decorated, immaculate, and very well outfitted. We truly felt at home. This house has all the up-to-date technology, a/c in all bedrooms, and plenty of space for everyone to sit and talk, watch TV, or read a book in the evenings. The back deck is great...we had a fabulous lobster feast out there overlooking the lovely back yard. The landscaping is beautiful and very well-kept. We highly recommend this property and hope to come back again in the future. Thank you, Claire and Walt, for providing us this great opportunity.

Owner's Response: Peg and Tony, we are happy our home provided the perfect location for your family. It's name "Just Right" comes from Goldilocks and the three bears. It's not too big, it's not too small. The layout of bedrooms and relaxing areas is " just right," to accommodate our multi age group of our family. Thank you for treating our home as yours. We look forward to your staying with us on your future trips to Chatham. Warmly, Walt and Claire

Fabulous Home in Chathan

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have vacationed in Chatham for over 50 years. We've stayed in homes, condos and cottages. This home is far and away the most comfortable and attractive place that we have rented. The decor is warm and inviting. And there is space for everyone to enjoy their vacation any way they like. . .reading a book, doing a puzzle, watching TV. It's a great location for walkers and convenient to town by car. The beaches are nearby. As someone else said, it surpassed all expectations!

Excellent house in charming Chatham

  • 5 of 5

Other family members have stayed on Cape Cod, however this was my first time doing so. Concur with other reviewers describing this home as very clean, attractive and a great place to stay.

Ours was a group of 8; 6 adults and 2 kids (ages 5 & 3). The set up worked quite well for us. The younger parents with the 2 children stayed downstairs; it's a finished basement w/ a living area and TV (a door to close off from bedroom). They have a 1/2 bathroom downstairs along with the washer/dryer. One very large bedroom includes the queen bed and twin beds ... there were bunk beds and can't recall whether there was another separate twin bed (?). Use the term "basement", however due to the angle of the property, the bedroom downstairs has a window and a set of doors opening out to the backyard. They have a de-humidifier and air-conditioning unit for downstairs.

On the main floor, each bedroom has its' own AC window unit. For someone like myself who grew up in MA, I well remember that summer weather can be erratic. During our week in Chatham the temps were very pleasant, but the humidity was high. That did make for perfect beach weather. However was very glad to have the air-conditioning in bedrooms for comfortable sleeping.

LOVED the outdoor shower! Having a shower outside makes sense if you've spent time at the beach and want to avoid trekking sand in the house. In this house, it's not just a spigot installed outside; rather the wooden structure around the shower also has a small "dressing area" in which you can hang up your towel, and put your soap.

RIDGVALE BEACH -- have lots of beach options in area, however since Ridgvale was the closest, within walking distance, AND very suitable for young children, that's where we went. For adults, it's a pleasant 15-minute walk, maybe about 1 mile (?). Because we were schlepping along various accoutrement for several hours at the beach (chairs, cooler, toys), part of our group would load up the car with all the stuff and drive over there. Be aware there is a parking fee at most all beaches (are a few in area that do not charge, however seems the majority do charge for parking). I think daily rate was $15 or can also get a parking pass ($60) for the week. For walk-ins, no charge for access. Bathrooms @ this beach are port-a-potties. There is a snack bar if you're not bringing along your own food items.

Okay--a bit sidetracked, so wish to conclude w/ hearty endorsement for this property.
