Perfect Vacation Home in Chatham

  • 5 of 5

We owned our own homes on the Cape for many years, but have since retired to Florida. So, when we decided to get our adult children together for a family vacation in September, Chatham on the Cape was a perfect spot. Claire and Walter's home was far beyond our expectations. Conveniently located close to beaches and downtown, the home is beautifully decorated, immaculate, and very well outfitted. We truly felt at home. This house has all the up-to-date technology, a/c in all bedrooms, and plenty of space for everyone to sit and talk, watch TV, or read a book in the evenings. The back deck is great...we had a fabulous lobster feast out there overlooking the lovely back yard. The landscaping is beautiful and very well-kept. We highly recommend this property and hope to come back again in the future. Thank you, Claire and Walt, for providing us this great opportunity.

Owner's Response: Peg and Tony, we are happy our home provided the perfect location for your family. It's name "Just Right" comes from Goldilocks and the three bears. It's not too big, it's not too small. The layout of bedrooms and relaxing areas is " just right," to accommodate our multi age group of our family. Thank you for treating our home as yours. We look forward to your staying with us on your future trips to Chatham. Warmly, Walt and Claire

Fabulous Home in Chathan

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have vacationed in Chatham for over 50 years. We've stayed in homes, condos and cottages. This home is far and away the most comfortable and attractive place that we have rented. The decor is warm and inviting. And there is space for everyone to enjoy their vacation any way they like. . .reading a book, doing a puzzle, watching TV. It's a great location for walkers and convenient to town by car. The beaches are nearby. As someone else said, it surpassed all expectations!

Excellent house in charming Chatham

  • 5 of 5

Other family members have stayed on Cape Cod, however this was my first time doing so. Concur with other reviewers describing this home as very clean, attractive and a great place to stay.

Ours was a group of 8; 6 adults and 2 kids (ages 5 & 3). The set up worked quite well for us. The younger parents with the 2 children stayed downstairs; it's a finished basement w/ a living area and TV (a door to close off from bedroom). They have a 1/2 bathroom downstairs along with the washer/dryer. One very large bedroom includes the queen bed and twin beds ... there were bunk beds and can't recall whether there was another separate twin bed (?). Use the term "basement", however due to the angle of the property, the bedroom downstairs has a window and a set of doors opening out to the backyard. They have a de-humidifier and air-conditioning unit for downstairs.

On the main floor, each bedroom has its' own AC window unit. For someone like myself who grew up in MA, I well remember that summer weather can be erratic. During our week in Chatham the temps were very pleasant, but the humidity was high. That did make for perfect beach weather. However was very glad to have the air-conditioning in bedrooms for comfortable sleeping.

LOVED the outdoor shower! Having a shower outside makes sense if you've spent time at the beach and want to avoid trekking sand in the house. In this house, it's not just a spigot installed outside; rather the wooden structure around the shower also has a small "dressing area" in which you can hang up your towel, and put your soap.

RIDGVALE BEACH -- have lots of beach options in area, however since Ridgvale was the closest, within walking distance, AND very suitable for young children, that's where we went. For adults, it's a pleasant 15-minute walk, maybe about 1 mile (?). Because we were schlepping along various accoutrement for several hours at the beach (chairs, cooler, toys), part of our group would load up the car with all the stuff and drive over there. Be aware there is a parking fee at most all beaches (are a few in area that do not charge, however seems the majority do charge for parking). I think daily rate was $15 or can also get a parking pass ($60) for the week. For walk-ins, no charge for access. Bathrooms @ this beach are port-a-potties. There is a snack bar if you're not bringing along your own food items.

Okay--a bit sidetracked, so wish to conclude w/ hearty endorsement for this property.

Charming Chatham home

  • 5 of 5

This was my first time to rent a house on Cape Cod for my family...and, I really did my research! And, this house surpassed all expectations! It was immaculate and pristine--very important to me, the decor was very attractive, simple, not cluttered, and, everything in excellent, clean condition; the location was very good and the walk to the beach and through the bogs out back, fun adventures, especially for my two year old Austin granddaughter who had never been to a beach. She even woke up from a nap one time, and, the first word out of her mouth was a very emphatic, 'BEACH!' The landscaping was beautiful, and, even coming from Texas, where everything is big, my son commented on the size and beauty of the Hostas, Rhodendrum and lush Dogwood blossoms.

The back deck was perfect for entertaining my childhood friends in the area, and, the kitchen, very functional and well stocked.

I think the one unique perk that worked especially well was the lower level for my son, his wife and their two year old, with a separate, very large bedroom with beds for five, plus, a half bath and, a little family room, well stocked with children's books. It gave them privacy, a quiet place for the two year old's nap and early bedtime, plus, my granddaughter wakes up very early, and, she and her mother were able to get outside to the back yard through the door in the bedroom without coming upstairs and, disturbing others.

We all hope that '#4' can become a 'family tradition!'

Great, clean, updated, family house

  • 5 of 5

This house is always a great place to stay. It has been ideal for our 2 adults, 3 children, with great space. The house is very clean and comfortable beds. It is clear that the beds and other items in the home are new or newer. The kitchen is also well stocked with necessary cookware and we have cooked both in the kitchen and on the grill.

The cul-de-sac is ideal for our kids to play. It is a nice walk to the beach (on summer visits) and it is a quick drive to the center of town. The town is great, I get my coffee each morning at a number of places and it is such a great cape feel.

The owners are great people who truly care about the home, their guests, and making sure everyone has a great experience. Look forward to the next trip.

The perfect weather was a bonus!!!

  • 5 of 5

We traveled from Asburn, Va. To Ct for a family wedding and decided to spend a couple of days on Cape Cod. This home and location was everything we could ask for. Being the end of the season one might expect the home to look a little tired. Just the opposite! It looks like a model home that has just been staged. The platings are beautiful. The hydrangeas.....seems like hundreds were just at the end of color and the Holly is loaded with berries for the winter.

We took advantage of the owners folder for restaurants and shopping. The Squire was comfortable, reasonable with good food. Shops were open with good sales.

The weather was perfect, mid 70's! We did take a walk to the beachwear hope to be able to return to this house next summer.
