About rachel bizot

My French husband and our 4 children moved here nearly five years ago after having spent 4 years in Oxford and we have simply fallen in love with the place! It is an ideal spot as the children can be completely independent with our proximity to the centre of aix , yet it is an absolute haven here, 3 acres of garden overlooking ths St Victoire in the Provençal sunshine...bliss!

rachel bizot purchased this house in 2010

Why rachel bizot chose Nord

We immediately fell I love with its charm . It has all the advantages of a new build (it was built 9 years ago)but with all the charm of a typical bastide , the high proportioned ceilings the beautiful old tiled floors. So much effort went into choosing authentic materials particularly the beautiful iron staircase and the beautiful old doors.

What makes this house unique

It's unique tranquil setting in 3 acres of land is quite unique so close to Aix so we are extremely lucky! A dream come true! We hope that you will come here and make it your home for your stay.

Enchanting bastide

One of the best VRBO's we've stayed in!

For starters, this is the perfect location in Provence. You feel as if you're far away in the country but instead you're able to take a short drive and suddenly you're in Aix, a thriving, dynamic city.

The owners were so gracious - making sure that their home was comfortable (and it was!), and they provided literature with many ideas for daily excursions. We visited Cassis and the Mediterranean, and we drove to a stunning vineyard where you can walk a couple miles along the property passing dozens of art installations. These were perfect ideas - all tips from the owners. We stayed 10 days, and we could easily have stayed longer!

The outdoor setting is magical. The light, the lavender, the vistas - all unique to Provence. Just beside the kitchen is a long outdoor table where we ate most our meals. Around the corner is another seating area, perfect for the afternoon glass of rose. We visited with our family (kids ages 11,8,6) where we all enjoyed swimming in the pool. The kids also jumped on the trampoline at the edge of the property and played boule. Endless entertainment!

Inside, the kitchen is newly remodeled. And the entire interior is so both comfortable and totally chic. I loved everything about how it was decorated, and I especially loved the huge door that opens to the backyard. This is a home that could easily be in a magazine or Houzz. There is also another dining area - where we sometimes ate breakfast.

If you're searching for a house in the South of France, this one is the most special!

Beautiful inside and out

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful, authentic French home for a family holiday. We had been looking for somewhere special in the south of France to meet with family traveling from England and Australia (we live in San Francisco). With so many different needs of family members, it was hard to find somewhere that would make everyone happy...but this is the house.

The owners have done a beautiful job restoring this traditional bastide. The gardens and large expanse of soft green lawn were perfect for the children to play. The pool was in use everyday by the children, and also perfect for lap swimming.

The location is fantastic. My father and I walked to the boulangerie each morning for fresh croissants before either heading into the pretty town of Aix, or doing one of the day trips that Rachel (the owner) had suggested.

We would highly recommend this beautiful home. A truly magical French holiday that everyone of all ages loved. We will be back! Thank you Rachel for all your help.

Our unique property is wonderfully located within walking distance of the historical centre of Aix en Provence with its many restaurants, shops, bustling markets and sightseeing yet the house is in a tranquil setting in 3 acres of of beautiful grounds overlooking the famous Mont Ste Victoire.

There is something for everyone in Aix en Provence. For those that enjoy visiting there is the grand Théatre de Provence, the cathedral of St Saveur and the many sites related to Cézanne, not forgetting the many international music and opera festivals . For those that want to venture further afield there is so much to see within an hours drive of Aix. There is Baux de Provence, Arles with its famous arena, the lavender fields, the vineyards of Luberon, Avignon with its papal palace. For the more sporty there are numerous hikes in the area with extensive national parks , mountain biking and white water rafting in the Gorges de Verdon. The coastal town of Cassis is within half an hour and from here you can venture into the beautiful Calanques either by foot or by boat. Alternatively you can sit back and relax around the large salt water swimming pool and enjoy the natural surroundings. We do hope to welcome you to our home very soon and feel sure that you will love it and the region as much as we do.
