This beautifully restored 1930's Hawaiian bungalow features two bedrooms & two bathrooms, new appliances (including washer/dryer & dishwasher), original fir floors, concrete counter-tops, and floor to ceiling ocean-side windows. Perched just a few feet from the beach, you can sit at the bar and enjoy a view that extends the length of the windward coast. Gaze out at the ocean and the empty beach that stretches on, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Rinse off with our hot water outdoor shower, and then relax in our screened-in lanai while the warm trade-winds wash over you. Let the sound of the surf ferry you off into dreamland, and wake to a 180 degree view of a sunrise that each morning looks like a re-creation of The Creation. This is Hawaii as it was, made new again for you to enjoy.
Located within walking distance from the Polynesian Cultural Center, a ten minute drive from Turtle Bay, and a world away from your nearest care.
The bungalow was just perfect. The spectacular view of the ocean, the location, the kitchen, the backyard, just about everything was amazing. My family and I stayed here for a week and all my 4 year old daughter wanted to do is hang out in the backyard playing in the sand and waves. It was a vacation we will never forget and we will always cherish the memories we had at the bungalow. I would like to thank Sharon again for making our stay go smoothly and with ease. She was just wonderful to work with and I highly recommend this property. And, we hope to come back again and make more beautiful memories!
Very impressed with this beach bungalow. The pictures are accurate but do not do it justice. The view of the ocean is breathtaking as soon as you step through the front door. That picture window is the $100 million view. Stayed for 10 days at the bungalow with my 2 sons (ages 6 and 3) and mother. It was perfect. The boys loved being in a house where they could run around and have the beach right outside. The front yard has some grass and shade for running around too. The house itself is not too big (2 bedrooms) but still quite spacious and we had everything we needed. The kitchen was fully decked out. Previous renters left spices, dry good, etc (as did we at the end of our trip!) and it had a very "aloha" feel of giving. Lots of cookware and dishware for entertaining (including a paella pan!). The ocean waves can be rough at high tide but mornings were beautiful and calm. There is a Starbucks at the Courtyard by Marriot across the street (though a little dangerous to cross Kam highway) as well as the Polynesian Cultural Center. The supermarket was down the street - within walking distance if you don't mind walking (we drove). It's a little hard to find the house because you are driving down the highway and the house numbers are not easy to read and you have to pull in quickly but not a major problem once we got settled in. Would love to come back and stay at the house again! It was so peaceful (nice to be away from Waikiki!) and had a beautiful atmosphere.
Our family stayed at this amazing house for a week and absolutely loved everything about it. The house was clean and had all the necessities you could ever need. Sharon was amazing to work with and was extremely helpful with things to do in the area. The fact that the house sits directly on the beach was a big selling point for us. The ocean breeze was all we needed to cool the house. I definitely recommend this property for anyone looking to relax and unplug!
A gorgeous property that presents well. Most of the facilities are great - the kitchen is superb, they have body boards and a kayak, charcoal BBQ and the beds, bathrooms, linen and towels are great quality. We were one couple, but this would work for two couples very well.
However there were just a few minor things that we found that weren't quite up to standard, which is why we gave this rating. Hopefully the owners take these as constructive comments which they can improve the property even more.
We waited for over 24 hours for them to get us the WIFI password. This was emailed and included information on the property that would have been useful to have upon arrival. This was annoying because we had business to do and it cost us to use the fairly bad 4G network there.
The couch was incredibly uncomfortable to sit on.
We found the TV was difficult to use (for non-USA citizens) so some instructions would be great.
It would be nice to have curtains on the front of the house (facing the main road) and the bedroom facing the beach for a little more privacy and to enjoy a sleep-in if wanted.
Also a note for anyone wanting a good swimming beach. While you can swim here, it is very rocky. However there are two really good swimming beaches not far away. We found Pounders beach was excellent.
Overall we really enjoyed the stay here and would recommend it to others.
We fell in love with this cottage while searching on VRBO, and just had to stay here. Even though it wasn't available for all of our dates, we still booked it. It is so wonderful to have your own place! We had a New Years Eve toast under the stars on a quiet, dark beach. The owner has graced the walls of the cottage with her own art depicting island life, which just adds to the charm. This is a great option for up to four people. The cottage is so well designed and uses the small space very efficiently! Just a heads up: the Polynesian Cultural Center across the street has a Hukilau Marketplace that is free. A couple of evenings we crossed the street and enjoyed shopping, food trucks and even the Pounders restaurant. This is a great addition to the North Shore.
The pictures don't do it justice! It has everything you could want or need. So well restored for that original 1930's feel. Cozy, comfortable and the back yard make you right at home. The kitchen window....it's my "window to the world" as it exposes a beautiful sunrise every morning. The screen porch was a great place to open the double doors from the kitchen and add additional space to relax. We were there to visit with our Marine while he had 96 hrs leave. He requested that we not stay in the Waikiki area or anything that was congested with commercialism. Which leads me to the location of this home. It is perfectly located in the northeast area of the island aka "the country". A short drive to the beautiful North Shore beaches and unique towns or a scenic drive south into the city for all the tourist destinations. Either way you go, you can't go wrong with this house. We will chose this home in our future trips to visit our Marine, God willing. Thanks to Jill for everything to make our stay so memorable.
Located on the beach in quiet Laie town, this home is right across the street from a must see on your list, the Polynesian Cultural Center! Visit PCC without having to pay for parking! Walk across the street to Oahu's best Luau!Oh so close, yet the home remains far away and serene in feeling, detatched from the road or any action. Drive 10 minutes up the North Shore to famous Turtle Bay Resort for horseback riding, primier golfing, spa services, and fine dining. 15 minutes will have you in the heart of North Shore surf country, Pipeline, Waimea Bay, and Sunset Beach, all close by.
