Kona Coast Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 4 adults + 2 children)

Excellent location with views and privacy at a great price! We are continually updating with new bedding, linens, towels, and much more. This unit includes a fully furnished kitchen with a new stove and small appliances. This is a second floor end unit with a 'wrap around' lanai featuring garden, golf course and partial ocean views. Surf and Racquet Club is a 4 star ocean front resort and the ocean is 150 yard walk from your condo door. A secluded beach frequented by green sea turtles is located on the north side of the resort. We are also within walking distance of one of the best snorkling sites in Hawaii.

The KKS&RC has three professional lighted tennis courts and features an on-site tennis pro providing everything from group clinics to private lessons. The courts were resurfaced in 2015. A large pool and pavillian is located in the center of the resort. There is a strolling path on the ocean to enjoy either at sunset or sunrise.

New for 2015!!!! We just installed all new laminate flooring throughout our unit. Each year we try to make our condo even more comfortable for us and our guests. This year we removed the carpeting and put down high quality laminate flooring. We love both the look and the feel.

We have a local property management company that represent us. DON HELOW and NANCIE MARTENS of HAWAII SUNSET REAL ESTATE provide local property management for our condo.

About Tom & Judy Prichard

When we are not in Hawaii, we own and operate Oak Grove Pottery in Brown County Indiana. Brown County is an established art community located an hour south of Indianapolis. We are both juried members of the Indiana Artisan Program as well as the Local Clay Art Guild.

We have provided some of our functional pottery for your use during your stay in our condo.

Prior to Oak Grove Pottery, we were both involved in business and professional careers including Tom's eighteen years at a medical device manufacturing company and Judy's not-for-profit and management consulting activities.

Over the past 30 years we have been fortunate to live in some special places including five years in southern California and three years in Sydney Australia. The shores of Kona gives us some of the same wonderful feelings as we had during our stay in Sydney.

Tom & Judy Prichard purchased this condo in 2011

Why Tom & Judy Prichard chose Kona Coast

After traveling to Hawaii on vacation for 30 years, we fell in love with the Kailua-Kona coast. In the spring of 2011, we purchased unit 7-204 as our Hawaiin home.

The Kona coast and the island of Hawaii has so much to offer including kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, tennis, golf and numerous other outdoor activities. We loved this particular area because of the 'village' feel to the town and the close proximity to both shopping and great resturants. Tom's passion is tennis and the KKS&RC has one of the best tennis facilities in the area. Judy often takes a morning walk on the adjacent Kona County Club golf course. The fresh fruits and veggies which can be bought year round at the local farmers markets are great! We are at the far end of Alii Drive which is much more quite than closer to town. Alii Drive is perfect for walking, running or biking. Tom rides his bike into the village a couple of times a week.

What makes this condo unique

You are just steps away from some of the best whale watching, snorkeling and sunsets anywhere. 7-204 is unique to have beautiful garden, golf and ocean views. KKS&RC is rated #2 in specialty resorts.

Although there are plenty of great restuarants close by, we both love to cook and have equiped our condo with all of the 'necessities' to prepare any type of meal. From fresh fish on the grill with rice to easy slow cooker Hawaii style pork, the condo has all the tools needed. We continue to add new things each time we visit the islands.

Finally, before we purchased our condo, we rented several different units in the area. Although we had wonderful stays, most of these rentals seemed worn and lacking in basic necessities. We decided to make sure our home was fully equipped, clean and maintained. We try to keep a higher standard, not just for us to enjoy during our Hawaii getaways, but for our guests as well.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is a Trip Advisor review that posted recently. They gave us five stars. Thank you!

"Great location, a very short way to the water, but wrap around lanai and view of golf course make it a superb option. Second floor privacy and screened doors allow nice breezes. Close to groceries, restaurants, and public beach just down the block. The complex is well cared for with pool and tennis court."

Exceeded All Expectations!

This review is long overdue but maybe the fact that I've come back after almost 4 months to write it says something about the impression this lovely home made on us! We were in Hawaii pursuing an adoption so "vacationing" was not our intent or need, however, we decided to drive over to Kona for a few days and play tourist. Due to a unexpected family situation on the mainland, the owners had vacated their home the week prior and opened up additional dates for travelers. We discovered the openings on our drive across the island and by the time we arrived, had booked 4 nights. After one night in the place we decided to extend our stay to a total of 8 nights. It was so worth it!

The condo is immaculate and the owners provide everything you could possibly need to make it feel like home with one exception - there is no ice cream scoop. If you can do without (we used a big spoon), then you'll be all set here :) With two small children, the laundry was especially nice! We loved having the windows open and the ceiling fans did a great job at keeping the condo comfortable. The photos on the site represent the condo well but once you're inside, you really feel like you're home.

There's a shopping area just up the hill - about a 2 minute drive or 5-10 minute walk if you're not pushing/pulling two littles - with a grocery store, ice cream/shave ice shop, a few restaurants (try the Mexican place), a movie theater, and various stores. Up the coast is downtown Kona where you can get pretty much anything. We tried a few restaurants and coffee places as well as stocked up on a few souvenirs for the folks back home. We also walked through the farmer's market and got avocados as big as a baby's head - best guacamole I ever made! You can stop along the coast almost anywhere to check out the view but the best vantage point was right from the resort itself. A short walk across the parking area and down the path (all stroller accessible) and you're overlooking beautiful black rock cliffs with waves that make our 5 year old ooh-ahh and giggle when she got sprayed.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with our family - it was exactly what we needed!

Loved our stay.

I have stayed at the Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club several times in the past few years, but always in units over-looking the ocean. I really like staying at this facility, and a friend and I decided to select a garden view unit for our girls getaway trip. I am very glad we did. The garden and golf course views are lovely and we found we could really relax and enjoy our time on the wrap around lanai. The owners have done a very nice job in decorating and maintaining their condo. It was very clean and comfortable.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind words and we are very happy you had a great stay in our home. We fell in love with our garden view the first time we saw it as well. It is a joy to wake every morning and sit on the lanai having our coffee. We're pleased you felt the same. Mahalo, Tom & Judy

Warm and welcoming home away from home

  • 5 of 5

After entering the Keauhou Kona Surf and Racket Club, you were greeted by immaculately maintained lawns, flowering plants, mature trees and palms and the sound of the ocean.

The unit is a very well maintained space with wood floors throughout with an open design. The condo is longer than wide creating the feeling of a large space. An updated kitchen overlooked a dinning area that flowed into a large yet warm living area and into the lanai (outdoor porch/deck). The lanai wraps around the corner unit with a wooded area on the east side and a view of the neighboring golf course and the ocean down a fairway. Breakfast was our favorite looking out across the fairways to the ocean and watching listening to the plethora of native and imported birds in the cool of the morning.

The unit has two full bathrooms and two bedrooms, one with a double bed and single and one that is either open to the unit or, with a quick move of wood framed screen walls on tracks, became a private suit with a comfortable, king sized bed, a private bath and an entry to the lanai. As there where only two of us, we left the wall open increasing the feel of the already large space.

The unit also includes a full sized washer and dryer and refrigerator and a “fun closet” with tennis rackets and other gear to help with the fun of the region.

One of our favorite activities was sunset! Anywhere from a dozen to 2 dozen people would come from units from the different complexes to celebrate the end of another day and watch the sun set at the tees next to the ocean. It was a festive atmosphere punctuated by the crash of surf and laughter.

Another favorite activity was snorkeling at Kauhou Beach Park less than a mile walk from the unit. A coral reef flows right up to the beach area that is very easy to access. Tropical fish of all colors, shapes and sizes inhabit the reef in plentiful numbers. There are also four resident sea turtles in the area.

Restaurants are plentiful in the region, within 5-20 minutes from the unit. We tried seafood, Hawaiian fusion and a the brewpub at the famous Kona Brewing Co. among many others.

We cannot say enough about our stay in this unit. We have already started to save for our next trip and definitely want to see if we can get this lovely condo again. The lovely, well-maintained interior, the convenience to so much of what Kona has to offer and the peace and quiet of a secluded spot help to make our vacation special.

Clean, well appointed, beautiful golf course view!

The unit was exactly as described, clean and had beach chairs, a boogie board and snorkel gear. Everything was in good working order, and I would definitely recommend it to a friend. We may even return next year!

A home away from Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We spent 10 days in this beautiful property at the end of July 2012.

Tom and Judy are the perfect hosts, though we never met in person they remotely made us feel very welcome. This touch made the experience personal.

Also Nancie from the property management company was superquick in getting back to us for the 2 small things that we needed.

The unit itself has everything our family of 4 (children 5 and 6 y.o.) could ever want. A newly remodeled gourmet kitchen with every accessory you are going to need to cook home. There were also some appliances I wasn't expecting to find (rice cooker, blender etc).

There's a "Fun closet" which includes things you'd love to have but wouldn't carry with you during vacation: portable folding chairs for the beach, body surfboards, reusable grocery bags, coolers etc.

We found every sort of cleaning product for kitchen and bathrooms as well, which helps having small children.

The furniture was tastefully chosen and provided abundant space for all our things, the master bedroom is separated from the living room by a divider that once opened creates a huge space (we kept it open all the time). The lanai overlooks the Golf course and it's very private we loved sitting on the outside couch in the morning sipping Kona coffee, eating pinapple rice-cakes and reading news on our tablet (high speed internet is a nice touch).

The complex is conveniently located close to a local grocery store and a Longs Drugs. There's also a few dining choices closeby in the same shopping center. Kona is 10 minutes away driving, and if you feel like there's also a shuttle bus which you can take for 2$ a ride.

There's a small beach nearby but it felt too crowded for us so we spent a lot of time at the complex swimming pool which is quiet and has a large 1ft deep area which was perfect for our son who can't swim yet.

We have been twice to Maui and now once to Hawaii and we loved our stay here at Tom and Judy's condo.

It wa a joy to find a kitchen so well equipped.

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect condo for the two of us. We loved the decor with it's clear, bright colours and lots of natural light. It was a joy for me to find the kitchen so well equipped. I was delighted to even find a baking pan in which to make Hawaiin sweet potatoe pie. In our experience, it is rare to find a kitchen with decent frying pans which are not all scratched up! The bedroom is sunny and bright and being able to walk onto the lanai was a bonus. We ate on the lanai every evening we were home. The Surf and Raquet Club itself is well situated and within walking distance of two great farmer's markets. We hope to stay in this clean, lovely, well organized and very comfortable condo again.
