A great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Everything was great. It is a duplex so you can spread out into 2 living areas but didn't feel like 2 separate units because if the interior doors are unlocked you can easily go from one unit to the other through the upstairs and the downstairs. You don't have to go outside to go from one side to the other.

We blew a fuse and couldn't find the fuse box. Tim from Century 21 came over to fix it within half an hour even though it was a Saturday. I would stay here again.

Overall the place and location was good. The interior is very spacious. Overall check in and check out process was cool. Lots of space...two kitchen...the interior decor is awesome.

with older historic homes comes few things you have to be ready or open to accept if not you will dread the experience. Not a place for folks with allergies or expecting doors and windows to work, insects free and prim and proper front porch or decks.

I would recommend this place only for folks who are open to experience life in late 1800s.

Owner/Tim (real estate) person were very responsive and very friendly.

This home needs to be better maintained or don't rent it at all!

  • 1 of 5

We open the door, and smoke detectors were pinging. Someone came and changed out two batteries. Next day two more starting pinging - so I removed the batteries. Middle of the night another one starting pinging. Five smoke detectors later!

Some of the family wanted to use the spa - so we open the cover only to find black mold everywhere - so some came over and add some chemical, and left. The next day I removed the filter, and it was black so I cleaned it, but the water was not clear, and something was still growing on the bottom of the spa. The water in that spa should have been drained, and the spa should have been cleaned before we rented this house. I would not let any of the family go in that spa. it was not safe...

We returned from a day trip only to find that someone did not pay the cable bill so we did not have any TV until the next day. The family was starting to get very unset at all of the issues with this house.

We started to make breakfast the first morning only to find that all of the frying pans were disgusting. Plus I had to go purchase a tea pot to simply boil water for tea.

Plus to top it all off the - both doors to the porch's were covered in spider webs, and I mean covered. No one went out on either porch and checked them when they were there cleaning the house.

So that is my review. The family members would never rent that home again. We are waiting to see what the what the management company, and the owner of the house is going to do about any compensation for these issues.

Very nice place to rent.

  • 4 of 5

The location is really nice for a group vacation where people can easily walk into town, to the grocery store, or the farmers' market. Its not far from the river-walk, or the beach and situated nicely.

We rented both halves which was nice for a big group of adults, it was convenient having space. One thing, the larger kitchen is on the "add-on side" so if you only rent the 3 bedroom side you wouldn't get it.

The one disappointment was the hot tub. The water was murky and smelly when we arrived. Adding the maintenance chemicals didn't help so we basically couldn't use it. Additionally the floors hadn't been cleaned.

Overall this is a very nice house and I'd definitely recommend it for a group of friends who want to vacation together but have their own space too.
