Why MAUREEN IRWIN chose Galveston Island
In process of updating the property, we added new refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, walkway and outdoor shower in 2013. We have 2 picnic big tables under the house along with grill. We have to replace grill every 3 to 5 months, due to the salt air. Wood floors were just added in April, 2016.
What makes this House unique
There is a playground and a very nice community pool just overlooking the canals, with a nice restaurant and bar a few feet away. Also, Sea Isle has a boat launch, there's also a well stocked convenience store a block away from our home and a full serve grocery store and strip center with a hardware store, pizza shop, restaurants, liquor stores, etc. All within five minutes of the house. You can also find a full service bait shop a few minutes away. Wonderful walking beach (no cars) and you can find sand dollars on your morning walks... Other Activities: Shlitterbaum Water Park, Moody Gardens Golf: There is a very nice public golf course about 15 minutes from sea isle. Also, there is a private pirates' beach golf course. There is a pool, playground, boat launch and local a restaurant all in the Sea Isle subdivision. Open during summer season and depending on the weather?temperature in Spring and Fall

Upon arriving at the property it is out dated and needs some tlc. Bolts are rusted ( more than usual nails are coming up on the deck and i cut my foot on one of them. The outside shower had so much sand in it we had to clean it out and dig a trench so it would drain. The grill had to be cleaned out. So before we can use anything It had to be cleaned. It does not have a concrete first level just sand. When i booked this property i loved that the beach came all the way to the house. I wanted the grandchildren to be able to play in the sand by the house. That is definitely not the case. The yard had not been maintained. Stickers everywhere along with field rats. You had to RUN down the path to the beach because mosquitos were so bad. They tried to upgrade the inside but the floors are so unlevel. Applianced are outdated. We had to clean the frig before we could put anything in it, very dusty, toilet in mb leaks, dryer doesnt dry, we had no cable or internet for 5 days, no water for 2, couldnt leave the house for 3 days because they were replacing the main water line outside the house and there was a hole behind our vehicles. They started working between 6:30 and 7 am and did not quit until 5 pm. The noise and beeping from the trucks was aweful. We had to stay at the beach until they left. Waking the babies up every day. What a great vacation huh? It gets better. I was not told that the beach was not cleaned anymore until we were on our way to Galveston. The beach was terrible we had to try and clean a path so the kids could play. This property is way over priced for what u get. Most of the people that were coming for the vacaton cancelled because for one the house was blocked and 2 the noise. Owner wanted me to go downstairs and talk to the workers to see what was going on and top find out information. I'm sorry but that is not my responsibility. If i wanted to argue with the water company i would have stayed home. This was the most miserable vacation ever. I also believe it is misrepresented on the internet. It does not look like the pictures. The only thing the owner took care of was the internet. And that wasn't until the 5th day.
Great view, perfect beach access, tons of beds and rooms.
We loved spending mornings and nights on the front porch and the day down below the house relaxing in the breeze, enjoying the sound of the beach! Getting to the beach was so easy we went twice a day to swim and walk And fly kites.
Outstanding Beachfront Getaway!
We recently stayed here an entire week for Spring Break and had a most excellent week long vacation. The home is huge with plenty of space on both levels. The view from just about anywhere in the home can not be matched as the Gulf is right outside any window. All four bedrooms offered plenty of space and each had its own TV with Comcast cable. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare any meal and the dining room table had its own large windows to watch the surf while you dined. The front porch offered plenty of seating with available cushions to enjoy watching the waves. We loved being able to walk out the front door and right onto the beach. The home being situated on the West Beach was perfect as that part of the beach does not allow vehicles and offered long walks in either direction. The owner Maureen was easy to work with and everything was as promised with no problems from the reservation to check out. We will definitely be back and hope that this home is available for our next trip to Galveston!
Potential but needs TLC
The house was the perfect size and location for our family/friends getaway. The kitchen had everything we needed, and every room had a working TV. The house needs some attention, however, and we notified the owner of the issues we experienced. Hopefully, the next guests will benefit from the feedback we provided. Be sure to bring lightweight blankets, in addition to sheets. Otherwise, there are only bedspreads (quite dated) provided. Also, we went out and bought a little grill, as we were not comfortable using the one provided. With a little attention, this can be a great place to stay.
Spoke to the guests regarding BBQ issue and Blankets. The quilts mentioned in the closet were not for use as blankets, but could be used for beach, or deck or down stairs by picnic tables. The real blankets were not available since the cleaning company removed to launder. Had I known, they could have delivered them. In any case I now have those blankets and now extra blankets.
The BBQ was only 6 weeks old (assembled day before Thanksgiving), however the prior renters, used it and apparently did not clean or leave in good condition. I also should mention that I paid for this guest for a new BBQ, which they have. Fortunately, I now have found a cleaning company that will check and clean the BBQ after each rental. BBQ get replaced approximately every 4 months (metal just does not last on the beachfront).
I always always request (in the rental agreement, my emails, and in a note that I mail with the key) ....that if there are any issues to please please contacted/call me immediately.
In the rental agreement and in my emails, I ask that I be called on anything. It does no good hearing about concerns a week or two later. It is important to us that people have a nice home to relax and have peace and wonderful views.
We added hardwood floors this past year. Just added an additional 5 new plush beds, hair dryers, full set of spices, and soon a
As described the property has no obstructions between it and the beach.
Our family of 10 stayed here for a week. The house was nicely decorated and comfortable. We enjoyed hanging out under the house catching the gulf breeze that blew through constantly. We did not have any issues with the cleaning crew or owners. I would recommend this property to future vacationers.
Thank you, and it was a pleasure to have you!!
Look forward to having you stay again.
Perfect large family getaway on Memorial Day Weekend!!
We had 6 adults and 5 small children (7 and under ) stay at this beach house on one of the busiest holiday weekends for the beach and it was perfect! Public access was slightly separated from the private access we had from the house so the crowds were minimal and the only vehicles that were allowed to drive through were the Sea Turtle Rescue Golf cart and the garbage pick up..this was VERY nice because we didn't have to worry about the kids as much when they were running from their sand castles to the water. Upon arrival the house was very clean. We opted to bring our own linens which worked out great and saved us a little money. There were plenty of showers and the outside shower was great for rinsing off. The beds were comfortable ( the downstairs was even a sleep number bed, that my inlaws loved!) the kitchen was a above fully stocked, we brought extra things just in case, such as sharp knifes, strainers, can openers extra Tupperware, ect.but we never needed them. Plenty of plates, cups and silverware. We had a couple of really bad weather days but the house offered enough space for our little ones to play and the babies to nap without being woken up by the noise of the rest of us, and the TVs had cable access with HBO. We brought a memory stick with movies and the tv's had access for a USB so we could watch Frozen over and over! The TV in the living room was also a smart TV so we were able to access our vudu, Netflix, Hulu and Amazon accounts during the rain, and the wifi was strong enough for all of our smart phones and iPads. Though under the house was sand, they had a boardwalk built from the parking to the stairs leading into the house and the outdoor shower so you didn't get sandy if you didn't want. They even had a baby gate for the stairs so the smaller kids wouldn't get hurt, so we left ours in the car. The washer and dryer allowed us to wash our things before we left so we didn't have to drag dirty sandy towels home. I can't say enough nice things about this home, we had no issues and Maureen was wonderful, quickly answering any questions..and I had several. If you are looking for the most bang for your buck, this is the place! It had more of the amenities than some of the other more expensive houses we looked at. Definitely recommended for families with kids or without, we had a great time!
Thank you for your lovely comments. We greatly appreciate them. So glad you had a wonderful time.
