Fantastic, modern, newly converted apartment in historic building. The property is well equipped and furnished to a high standard with Cable TV, music system and free WiFi.

The apartment is set back from the road so it is quiet, with good views from the bedroom over The Meadows to the Pentland Hills.

The property is centrally heated and warm with all modern appliances.

There is a security entrance system and elevator to the second floor.

Underground car parking is available on site, there is an extra charge for this and special arrangements need to be made. Public transport links are available nearby and most visitors find that walking is the best way to see this wonderful city.

Great Experience

The location is perfect: close to the center but in a silent and protected area.

The building is exactly the one shown in the picture. The apartment is modern, bright, well furnished and fully equipped.

Check-in was easy and friendly.

Cleaning conditions were OK, as well as sheets ant towels quality.

The damage deposit amount was immediately returned.

Edinburgh is magnificent: we'll visit again in the future, possibly not during the festival to better enjoy the beauty of the town, and will return in that apartment.

Perfectly Dreadful- the only VRBO disappointment I've had in the many years I've used this service!

The owner, YVONNE, sent a nice email about all of the things she'd do for us and then a week before our arrival she advised that she would be on holiday, unable to meet us and and that GILS would greet us etc. On the day of our arrival GILS said that BEN would meet us. He did..

Ben knew little of the unit and refused to leave us a second key even tho we required same as my wife and I had different schedules. He said the last person took the key with them.A second key was delivered a few days later.

There were no instructions oral or written in the unit on the operation of the washing machine, the TV media( which had 4 hand controllers), the heater which had numerous controllers throughout the unit,. etc,

Contrary to the ad there was NO PRIVACY as the bedroom door did not close, leaving a space of at least one foot. The bedroom had a 9 inch wall clearance around 1/2 of the bed. Ambulation in the dark was difficult. The bedroom closet was filled with the owners"junk."

The dining area had a nonexistent lighting system, the dining chairs(2) are cheaply made of metal, missing some screws so that their backs are not connected to the seating area. They are nonfunctional and I, a writer, had no place to write..

The freezer hadn't been cleaned and had such a foul odor that we never opened it after our first attempt to put ice cream in it.

The heater broke and we were WITHOUT WATER for more than a day. We had to wait for the plumber and later for the gas man.

A day later BEN advised he required our keys as the plumbers truck was stolen and the thief had our key. Another 1/2 day of my vacation wasted. Later a new person, a man named JOHN( he never advised how he was connected to Yvonne), appeared with a locksmith and said that he knew about the bedroom door being nonfunctional and the other issues wrong with the unit before we rented it.

In short, the unit was a total disaster. It was not managed, cheaply outfitted and maintained with absentee ownership . I would not give a star but one cannot leave a review without one star highlighted.

I am awaiting a suggested resolution from the owner or VRBO as I paid full price and didn't receive that value. It is akin to a fraud to rent this unit in the condition provided me.If YVONNE fails to rerun at least 50% of what I paid I shall seek legal redress including damages for the upsetting time my wife and I had.

Let me say that in the past I have been completely satisfied with VRBO rentals.

Beautiful flat---close to everything

Yvonne and Gill were so kind to work with...they responded quickly and effectively to the one issue I had. The flat is in great shape. I stayed here for almost one month and would love to stay there again. Thanks Yvonne!

Great locations, nice flat, Everything I needed.

Had a great stay at this flat very close to everything I needed. The Quartermile is a redevelopment project that includes reuse of these historic buildings along with new construction. It is right on The Meadows and next to Edinburgh University, with very easy walking access to nearly everything. There is a grocery store right around the corner, and a great coffeeshop (plus a Starbucks - I prefer Peter's Yard.) The flat itself was comfortable, though the bedroom is tiny, it didn't matter at all. Enough usable closet space for clothes, and a fully stocked kitchen. Owner was a pleasure to deal with ahead of time and the person who met me to give me access was right on time (a good thing, since it was a rather rainy day!) Definitely a real find.

This modern apartment is situated right in Edinburgh City Centre beside the University. It was converted from the old victorian buildings of the Royal Infirmary in 2009. There is a small supermarket and great bakery/coffee shop on the doorstep. Just a few minutes walk takes you to all the amenities and attractions of the city centre, including shops, bars and restaurants and the National Museum of Scotland. It is just a 10 minute walk to the historic Royal Mile, in the centre of the Old Town. Two minutes in the other direction and you are at The Meadows, a large area of public park suitable for picnics and ball games.
