South Fork House Rental Photos and Description

Ranch Style Home, 5 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 16-20)

At the 8,500 feet, our comfortable and spacious hideaway is just a short drive to Wolf Creek Pass, known for 'the most snow in Colorado'. Wolves' Den is a beautiful 2,375 sq. ft. two-story home with High-Speed Internet and WiFi Access while offering gorgeous views of San Juan Mountains and Rio Grande National Forest. The Rio Grande River is one block nearby. Near the Wolf Creek Ski Area, Pagosa Springs, Alamosa (Great Sand Dunes), the Historic Mining Town of Creede and the Headwaters of the Rio Grande River.

The Home is nicknamed 'The Wolves’ Den' because it allows families and friends to gather together for fun and fellowship and has five (5) bedrooms with one king, three queen, three full, and two twin beds. See more info at our website listed below.

The Master Bedroom (SoulMates) is upstairs with its own private balcony. It offers a queen-size New Zealand Pine bed with a Pillow-top Mattress and gorgeous views of the area through the large window and door that opens onto a 200 sq. ft. private balcony where you often see the deer crossing from the mountains to the riverside. Room comes complete with its own mini-fridge and sitting area to enjoy your privacy in comfort or just gaze at the awesome views out your window and off your balcony. Room has a large walk-in closet and armoire settee for your convenience.

The Downstair's Bedrooms are furnished with a king, queen, and a full-size futon bed/couch and a single bunk bed above. One room, nicknamed 'The DreamCatcher Room', has its own attached dual sink bathroom. In the closet, there are two queen-size and one twin pillow-top air mattress for sleeping five more.

Another room ('The WildLife Room') offers lots of drawer space and two closets for adults or children to store their gear. And our latest addition is "Not Your Grandmother's Attic Room", with full and twin beds and an entertainment center.

The Study upstairs (UF's room) has been furnished as the third bedroom with a full-size futon bed/couch, dresser and night stand. It is small, but the view out the window is breathtaking.

Attic Room. 200 sq ft. of blue pine, wood flooring and a palisades view.

Downstairs comes complete with Computer and High-Speed Internet Access, Satellite TV and DVD/VCR. There are many DVDs for your enjoyment along with books, games. For dining or playing cards and games, there are two tables and 12 chairs. There is a computer desk complete with a computer and high-speed internet access with a wireless router to connect your laptop.

The Living Room area has a gas fireplace with a LazBoy queen-size sleeper sofa and two (2) gliders with a footstool to prop up your feet and just enjoy the view out of the many windows, watch satellite TV or a favorite movie or read a good book.

The Back Patio has a propane BBQ grill and Fireplace sitting area with a view of the mountains and National Forest.

The Front Deck offers a view of Del Norte peak and often deer. The Rio Grande River is straight ahead but just out of sight.

Call or Email Today to Reserve your Ideal Vacation and then start planning your trip toward our home located off the Silver Thread Scenic Byway (Highway 149) where for 75 miles you can see breathtaking inspiring views of the San Juan Mountains (most highly mineralized in Colorado).

You can visit the Historic Town of Creede and enjoy their quaint shops and dining and then travel the 16 mile Bachelor Mining Trail or attend the renowned Creede Repertory Theatre with several different live plays during the summer. Still feeling adventurous get back in your car for a short drive north on the Silver Thread Scenic Byway to the headwaters of the Rio Grande River and North Creek Falls. You can also head south from our home turning right unto Highway 160W to Wolf Creek Pass for some winter sports, or horseback riding, or go over the mountain pass to Pagosa Springs to see Treasure Falls and for more quaint shops and dining. In South Fork, you will find all that you need for your stay; Rainbow Grocery for all your food and fishing needs, UBC Hardware, liquor, movie rentals, ski and snowmobiling rentals, some cute shops, and fine dining from steaks at Rock Away Cafe, great food open to the public at the Rio Grande Club at the golf course.

Wolf Creek Pass in southwestern Colorado forms the pristine headwaters of the Rio Grande and San Juan Rivers. Bridging the South San Juan and Weminuche Wilderness Areas, the pass is beloved for stunning vistas and ample opportunities for backcountry recreation along the Continental Divide. It is also one of the most biologically-important areas in the Southern Rockies, providing habitat and migration pathways for elk, deer, black bear and the Canada lynx.

Wonderful Place to relax and enjoy

  • 5 of 5

The place is very spacious and comfortable and the views are scenic and breathtaking. Caught my limit, daily, of trout from the Rio Grande which is within walking distance from the house. We enjoyed short drives for shopping & sight-seeing in Creed and Pagosa Springs. Hiking is just outside the doors....loved it.

Best Stay In Colorado

  • 5 of 5

This nice roomy cabin is tucked in the most perfect part of the San Juan mountains. With the river running close buy, and other attractions there is an unlimited options on how to spend your day. Beds were comfy, no one on the trip had anything bad to say about the stay. I will definitely be staying here for all of my future visits to Colorado

Thank you for allowing us to stay in your home! It was a great place for all of us to stay together with plenty of room! The elk hunting was a bust, but enjoyed the fishing and the scenery! Hope to stay again some time!

Family fun

  • 5 of 5

Three generations gathered for family fun. The layout of the house allowed for privacy for all. The fenced yard was perfect for the youngest generation during the day and the teens and adults enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings. It was a great setting and the owners were very accommodating.

Average place

It was an okay place. Needs some updating. There is not very much furniture and some of was not in good enough shape yo even sit in. The heating system pops and makes alot of noise. All in all it was adiquate but not a place I would want to rent again.

Owner's Response: Our family was at our spacious 2,200 sq. ft. home with its large open kitchen the next day after you left. We were all surprised by your review in our guest book. In the 10 years we have shared our home with others, this is our first poor review. My family stayed for five days, and during the time, no one heard pops from the heating system. We give our guests a list of business contacts, among other things, in the area to call if there is ever a problem. Our home was built in 1979, does not have granite counters, however, has a lot of room, character and charm. Each year, we do make improvements to make our home more attractive and more comfortable for all who visit, including us. This is not just a rental, this is our home which we love to share with others, and we treasure every moment we have there with our large extended family including 21 nieces and nephews. We enjoy the area - rafting and gold medal fishing on the Rio Grande river, hiking on the continental divide, skiing at Wolf Creek Pass, gold panning and exploring silver mines near Creede, horseback riding, relaxing in the hot springs, shopping, and more. We always come away knowing we have made new friends and great memories during our stays. We hope you came away with wonderful memories as well. Wishing you safe travels.
