The area is great for exploring, shopping, dinning, museums, or driving through the countryside.
The cabin is the perfect get- away from what ever you need a break from in life. Your privacy is assured.
My husband and I had a lovely time here. The setting is beautiful, quiet and private. Just what needed for a weekend away from the city. The cabin is very clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. Wendy and Travis were helpful, but only if we needed. We enjoyed our walk down to the horse stables, met the cute-as-ever dogs and just took in the "farm" atmosphere. We were going to go kayaking, but we had such a good time just driving around the country side, day trip to Havre de Grace. Also just nice hanging out on the porch. Highly recommend! We intend on returning.
The property boosts stunning views of rolling hills, trees and beautiful horses grazing in the pasture. The stone fireplace, exposed beams and logs with chinking immediately created an cozy and warm atmosphere. The kitchen was spacious and easy to cook in and the bedroom was roomy with a comfy bed. We loved the front porch for morning coffee and evening sunsets. My favorite memories were visiting the horses when they were near the fence. Phoebe and Stella, the owner's dogs also came down to welcome us. We really enjoyed the animals and stunning views. Living in the city takes it toll and it was so refreshing to spend a couple days at Break Away Farm. We plan on booking another stay again in the winter.
We stayed here for a week while visiting family in the area. It was a great home base. Sitting on the porch with coffee looking over the fields in the morning was the perfect peaceful start to the day. The cabin is charming, and updated in all the ways that matter. Wendy was very helpful in providing suggestions for places to go and we felt warmly welcomed. I'm sure we'll be back!
Wendy's cabin provided the perfect get away! It's located on a gorgeous horse farm with beautiful views and tons of trails all around. There are tons of Amish farms in the immediate area to buy really good/cheap farm fresh foods for your stay. The cabin has everything you need to make your stay easy and enjoyable. There is a lake right down the road where you can fish and canoe/kayak, horse farms all around, this is a large/really wonderful antiquing area, and it's great to hike around here as well! I personally just enjoyed sitting outside of the cabin in the lovely yard and watching my dogs play.
Wendy was very easy to work with--she was very attentive and extremely personable. She made sure to come and meet you and wanted you to have the best stay possible/was available if you needed anything, but she respected your privacy as well. I would highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a nice get away in a beautiful area!
Lovely 200-year old cabin on the outside; cute, well-stocked, and immaculate on the inside. Cabin is on the end of a dead-end road, so if your dog is well-behaved, you can ask the owners to allow her off the leash and then watch her romp around in the grass, greet horses, jump in the little creek, and chase fireflies until you pass out from witnessing her joy. Owners are lovely people on the inside and out who will show you their horse barn and share stories of training race horses (fascinating) but also give plenty of reassurance and privacy. All you need to bring is food, which I suggest you buy on the way there from the Amish stalls at the Oxford Farm Market 10 miles away (I highly recommend the meats, especially the homemade scrapple). For breakfast or lunch, hit up the unbelievably charming White Horse Luncheonette, but take as many back roads as humanly possible so you can admire all the country side and Amish farms. For dinner, drive around until you find some Amish selling BBQ and whoopie pies out of their driveway. Remember that EVERYTHING here is closed on Sunday, so that's a good day for a road trip to check out the bald eagles and feat of engineering that is the Conowingo Dam.
Seriously, folks, if you want grass, and sky, and quiet, and space, stuff your under-exercised dog and your over-stressed sweetheart into the car, drive an hour out of the filthy city, and fall in love with living at this seemingly magical place.
