Great escape for a long weekend

  • 4 of 5

Great farm house where you can easily stargaze at night outdoor. The house is quite big for 10 persons and we loved the dining room. Definitely recommend it!

A peaceful country escape

  • 5 of 5

My wife, pup, and I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful farmhouse for a long weekend getaway. The kitchen was a dream to work in and it was a pleasant surprise to see how well stocked it was. The pool and hot tub were a huge draw for us and neither disappointed. Michelle and Walt, the caretakers, were hospitable and very helpful while Brian, the owner, was very helpful and accommodating. We highly recommend experiencing this home and what the area has to offer.

A perfect winter retreat close to great skiing!

  • 5 of 5

This house is truly amazing with a lot of character & charm. This is our 2nd winter renting this house for our annual VT ski trip. There is plenty of space for our group of 10 adults & 2 dogs. It is by far our favorite property we have rented in Vermont.

The large open kitchen & dining room is great for cooking for large groups. We spend most of our time in there because the large dining table is great for gathering together to play games and relax after a long day of snowboarding or skiing. The woodburning stove in the kitchen adds a great heat & filling the house with a wonderful winter atmosphere. The addition of the hottub is great to relax and help sore muscles.

The house is on a quiet country road surrounded by nothing but fields & wild life offering great privacy during your stay. The fenced in yard around the pool is wonderful for our two dogs to run around and play. The property is located just a few minutes off rt 4 which makes the 35 to 45 minute drive to Pico Mountain & Killington quick and easy even in snowy conditions.

We would love to come back in the summer and enjoy everything else this property has to offer with the pool, large yard and river access. We would recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a wonderful Vermont retreat vacation.

Thank you Bryan for accommodating us in your wonderful family home and we are looking forward to returning again next year!

A little too much wildlife inside

  • 2 of 5

The house is set on an idyllic piece of property. It is rustic, charming and cozy. It is very private but not too far from a grocery store or downtown. The open kitchen/ dinning room area was great for our large group. It made it easy to cook, chat and interact with each other.

Unfortunately the bad out weighed the good. The house was not clean. There was a mouse and insect infestation. Our first clue was the dead mouse in the downstairs toilet. Then the d-con traps through out the house. The excessive amounts (50+) of flies and wasp's that we killed. And the mouse droppings in the spice rack, on the rugs, and on our beds. We had to wash all of our bedding and all of the dished and pans prior to use.

The owners did addressed the rodent and bug issue in the "Welcome book". It mentions that they do their best to keep all wildlife outside. Unfortunately we were not aware of the issue prior to checking in. I'm sure if we had been we would not have rented the house.

We notified the owner and property manager of the issues and they kindly reimburse us the the cleaning fee. But in reality I wish we left on the first night and asked for a full reimbursement.

Owner's Response: Courtney, I am truly sorry that the house was not cleaner. We have addressed this with our cleaning staff, and it has been remedied. As you can see by our other reviews, this was not the norm. All the best, Bryan

Paradise Found!

  • 5 of 5

The Fair Haven Farmhouse is a dream getaway spot for any family or group of friends. I can't say enough about how special this place is, and I'm a bit nervous too about exposing this incredible secret!

The house is located on a very quiet country road; we barely saw anyone driving by. This privacy is important, of course, because we were lounging by the in-ground pool all day (and night!). When we weren't in the beautifully maintained pool, we were playing frisbee, soccer, or softball on the property's many green acres. The river is a fun place to splash around as well. We didn't use the paddle boat, but it was in good repair.

Inside the house, you'll be thrilled to cook in the enormous kitchen, and a major bonus is how well-supplied it is. Whether you need a blender, griddle, or melon-baller, you'll find it in this kitchen! The rooms were nicely decorated and comfortable. What a gorgeous old home!

We'll be coming back next year, for sure. THANK YOU, Bryan, for accommodating us (and our dog!) and for sharing your gorgeous family home with us!

Wonderful Property

  • 5 of 5

Had a great week at an awesome place. Beautiful home with a wonderful piece of property with great scenery. Had fun in the pool and on the river in the paddle boat. Took day trips to Saratoga and Six Flags. Lots of bike rides with lots of wildlife. 5y grandson found the biggest snake we have ever seen in the wild. Glad he did not touch it! Highly recommend this rental!

elliptical machine in mudroom, riverside (seasonal), kid's playhouse (seasonal), kid's swing-set (seasonal), flat, open land for snowmobiles and cross-country skiing in the winter Considerations: -This house was built in the 1850’s and has been expanded on in several stages. As such, it is rich in history and character. And just like anything that ages, it has its quirks. It is not without some of the typical country house traits. It has baseboard heating, is on filtered, well-water and while we try to keep mice, spiders and flying insects relegated to the outdoors, we aren’t always as successful as we’d like.
