If you want to enjoy the ocean and the amenities of San Diego, there’s no better place than On Top of Sunset Cliffs. Sitting right on top of the beginning of the cliffs, this 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo provides views and sounds of the waves from every room. If you get tired of being amazed by the pelicans flying by at eye level, counting the surfers riding the waves, or watching the superlative sunsets from your bedroom, balcony, or living room, there's always the oversized jetted tub to relieve your stress or watch one of the two HD televisions.
The stainless steel kitchen and open floor plan provides a wonderful ambiance for entertaining or simply for enjoying your time at home. All furnishings were purchased new in 2011.
It's close to all the attractions: Less than 3 miles to Sea World, 4 miles to the Trolly, 5 miles to Belmont Park, 8 miles to the San Diego Padre's ballpark and downtown San Diego, 9 miles to the San Diego Zoo and museums of Balboa Park, or 10 miles to the San Diego Charger's stadium.
It's all here.

We are both educators. We started our careers in Ohio, spent 10 years in Wyoming, and eventually moved to San Diego in 1990. Although we love to travel, once you visit here you'll see why we now live in San Diego. Our home is 1 mile from this vacation rental, and we plan to sell our house and move into the condo part time when we retire.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2011
Being teachers for over 30 years, we know how important it is to get away from 'normal life' and forget about work while relaxing in a new environment. We looked for a condo in San Diego for over 2 years before finding this gem. Ocean breezes, the sound of the waves, pelicans being so close that you can almost touch them, and the closeness to so many attractions make this a great place to live.
It takes about 1 minute to walk to the closest beach (just the time to walk down the stairs). A five minute walk south takes you to the Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, and a five minute walk north takes you to downtown Ocean Beach, one of the most famous and unique communities in San Diego. With its farmer's market / street fair every Wednesday, it's a great place to pick up flowers, locally grown food, snacks, and see live entertainment.
The owners of this unit took substantial effort to make this stay comfortable and convenient. We didn't meet them but they emailed a large welcome package describing all the amenities of the unit as well as the local attractions and shopping.
This unit has a designated underground parking spot which was a lifesaver because street parking fills up fast.
Thanks to Donn and Barb for taking the time to setup this condo and making us feel like it was a second home.
We would definitely return and recommend this unit as one to have!
The owners were very helpful. The condo was as described, and the view is as spectacular as in the photo. It is within walking distance to restaurants and shops. I would definitely stay there again.
If you're looking for a property with an amazing ocean view, you won't be disappointed! My first impression upon arriving at the property was that it was comfortable and would work fine. But by the time that first sunset arrived . . . wow! I understood the incredible appeal of this rental. When we were at the condo we spent most of our time on the private balcony listening to the ocean waves, watching surfers and birds. On our first night, a playful seal swam around the surfers. The bedrooms were nice and there was a binder of materials to answer questions about the area and operating manuals for items in the rental. But there's no question that the views are what you'll love and remember about this rental.
We visited the tide pools at Cabrillo National Monument, which was a short car ride away, but I enjoyed exploring the tide pools outside the condo just as much. We saw lots of crabs, snails and anemones both at Cabrillo and at low tide outside the condo.
Donn was very responsive and helpful. He wasn't on site to check us in but made sure we knew where everything was and how to reach him if we had questions. He had some microbrews and wine waiting for us. I was also thankful that we had a spot in the garage as the streets were often filled with parked vehicles. I would definitely recommend this property!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Barb and Donn's place. The days were warm and sunny with a nice breeze and evenings and mornings were cool. Having coffee on the balcony each morning was so relaxing as we watched the pelicans dive into the water for their meals. We walked to Ocean Beach a couple of days and highly recommend Newbreak Cafe for a delicious sandwich. We visited Torrey Pines State Reserve (about 30 minutes away) and walked a trail out to the ocean. The views were breathtaking! One day we drove north of LA to visit Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills where westerns were filmed. Right now it looks like the set of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. We also visited Cuyamaca Rancho State Park and the quaint town of Julian, known for its apple pies. Of course, we had to try a slice!
Barb was great to work with and met us at the condo to give us the particulars of the place. We were very comfortable there. After visiting a grocery store the first day, the kitchen was equipped for us to make a few meals there. The property was secure and there was a space for us to park in the garage. I would recommend the place to anyone!
Even though the weather was not perfect, we still enjoyed sitting around watching the waves crash. We bought seafood at the local market and ate on the patio while the sunset.i would not hesitate to come back. No hotel will give you this view.no disappointments
Barb and Donn were wonderful hosts. They provided everything we needed to stay at their place for a week. The condo was clean and the perfect size for us. Barb even took us to the grocery store since we didn't have a car. I highly recommend this place!
