About Edie Landis, Owner

Hello and thank you for considering a stay at The Homeplace at Trailcrest Farm. My name is Edie Landis. I am a happily married, busy mother of 4 (center in pic) who loves to write and garden and raise a small flock of chickens in my backyard.

Several years ago, my husband inherited the old farmhouse where he grew up. What do you do with a second home? We renovated and upgraded it and turned it into a home-away-from-home for visitors to Lancaster County, PA. The clean and quaint farmhouse has been welcoming travelers since 2003. Be sure to visit my website (link above) for more photos and information. I look forward to hearing from you.

Why Edie Landis, Owner chose Pennsylvania Dutch Country

We rent the farmhouse out to visitors for two reasons: First we want to bless our guests with a calming, refreshing visit and second, we're trying to preserve the farm for our children to inherit when they're grown. Your business helps support family farming.

What makes this farmhouse unique

+ Bring young children back to a quiet, restful place for their afternoon nap.

+ No worrying about noisy neighbors (or that you or your children will disturb others.)

+ Amish neighbors.

+ Strasburg is right in the heart of a majority of Lancaster County attractions.

+ Quiet, safe neighborhood. (Some neighbors are family, the rest are Amish &/or long-time residents.)

+ Plenty of room for outdoor play. Fenced in yard. Jungle gym.

+ Some farming, depending on time of year.

+ From porch, sunroom, deck or fenced-in yard you can watch the cows graze, variety of birds, or Amish walking by or riding their horse and buggies.

+Farm fresh eggs available upon request.

*Gifts Certificates available.

*Reduced Rates from Fall through Spring. See main page for actual rates.

*Mastercard, Visa and Discover accepted.

Peaceful Retreat Close to Everything

  • 5 of 5

Dear Edie - I am so happy that we chose The Homeplace. The property was delightfully quaint and well-furnished with necessities. My children (ages 3 and 9) didn't want to leave. We enjoyed watching the cows graze in the pasture everyday on the bench under the apple tree. We did make it into town for the theatre and train museum, and Hershey Park was only 45 minutes away. We will absolutely be back. Thank you for everything.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful view of cows grazing. Property was well kept and home was immaculately clean. We loved how quiet and peaceful it was, yet close enough to shopping, restaurants and all other activities. Would definitely love to come back to this home as it is a little piece of heaven! Thank you Edie & Rich for sharing your wonderful home.

Lovely House

  • 4 of 5

My husband, my daughter and her wife, and our 21 month old granddaughter spent the weekend in this beautiful historical house. The house was very clean, quite comfortable, and so quiet. The kitchen was fully equipped for our needs. We loved the location of the house and its surroundings. The yard was large and included a small slide which my granddaughter really enjoyed. She also enjoyed seeing the cows that came very close to the fence surrounding the yard. It was fun being in Amish country and learning more about the Amish, especially by means of a buggy ride which was located close by. Although the house is in the country, it is not far from a number of small towns and restaurants. Overall, the house was a great choice for us!

Nice property

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a very relaxing time. Property was clean, and went the extra mile with goodies such as milk in the fridge. Owner responded to a late night call, cheerfully and pleasantly. I will definitely consider this property in the future. Close to everything, but far enough away for peace and quiet.

Very nice stay in a charming home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week with our two sons and they had a great time. They enjoyed playing in the yard and watching the cows over dinner. It was close to the Strasburg Train and Cherry Crest Farms, so it was very convenient.

Although it is an older home, it has been nicely refurbished while still maintaining its charm.
