About Barbara Arnold
I grew up spending all my summers in this area since I was 9 yrs. old. I brought my children here for their summers and I hope someday they will do the same when they have children. I love the area in any and all seasons as there is something to be had for everyone regardless of talents, hobbies or interests.
Barbara Arnold purchased this House in 2009
Why Barbara Arnold chose West Traverse
I chose this area because of my fond memories but also because of its' universal appeal to others, and the opportunity for year round activities. Skiing, boating, golfing and tennis are all nearby and the slopes are less than 10 minutes away.
What makes this House unique
I love enjoying the company of friends for beverages and a grilled dinner on the patio. I appreciate napping in the shaded garden hammock in the backyard or just relaxing in an adirondack chair late in the day. Gathering on the porch to recounts day's activities is a ritual. Relaxing in front of the fireplace after a day on the nearby slopes of Nubs Nob or Boyne Highlands is warm and restful. Catching a movie in the comfort of this home seems to work for the weary skier. Heading downtown to watch the sailboat races or the yachts arriving on the waterfront or sit by the Bay is a pleasure of mine. Walking the boardwalk down to the beach and sitting and swimming in the afternoon is the best. Rainy days do not deter me - with book in hand I head to the covered porch and relax. Sometimes the games will emerge when others also congregate on the spacious porch. I enjoy walking or riding my bike along the Bluff looking at the spectacular views of the Bay and boating on the Bay is even better. Jumping into the clear clean waters of Lake Michigan is a joy. I always find myself rested and renewed as I head home from this nest up north.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed here.
Barbara has thought of every detail. This is our 2nd year in a row to stay here. Location is excellent 5 to 10 min from everything.
Clean, great layout, well stocked, convenient!
For full transparency I will state I did not actually get to stay at the property. I was in charge of finding a house that my husband and I along with his sister and her family could share for a ski weekend Up North. Unfortunately two weeks before our stay my husband broke his ankle and needed surgery to repair it. That kind of put a damper on a ski weekend for us but my sister in law and her family did go. What I can say from my personal experience was that the communication from Barbara, the home owner, was excellent. Through calls and email we had all the info we needed before the trip. The rest is from SIL's perspective. The house was great! Clean, comfy, and well stocked. The layout would be great for multi family sharing. Easy drive to Nubs and downtown Harbour Springs. Had it been any other time other than the dead of winter, the porch would have been great to lounge out on :) We plan on trying this trip again next year so I asked her should we go back to this house and without hesitation or reservation she said absolutely!
We very much enjoyed our time at the Nest up North. The place was very spacious and comfortable. Felt very much at home. Barb was very responsive and made our stay as pleasant as possible. The family had such a great time thatbthey are already talking about requesting the same property for our next trip. Thanks for everything Barb.
Awesome cottage & very responsive owner!
Our family of 5 stayed here last week for our annual Harbor Springs ski trip. We had a wonderful time and were very satisfied with the home and the responsiveness of the owner. The home was clean, the perfect size for our family, and stocked with plenty of extras that I was not expecting (books, magazines). The location is great--close to downtown and a 10 minute drive to Boyne Highlands. We will definitely look into renting this home again. Thank you!!
A great 2 weeks!!
This house is a great place to stay in charming Harbor Springs. Spacious, yet cozy and comfortable, the house is well stocked with everything you need. Downtown with shops, restaurants, bakery, ice cream and the wonderful Farmers Market is just a 15 minute walk or quick drive or bike ride. Cocktails, dining, and naps on the front porch are a treat. We had one minor issue that was resolved immediately via email with a follow up phone call from Barbara. We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks at this house and highly recommend it.
This was our fourth time staying at this property and it never disappoints! We feel like we are at home, we unpack and can just relax for the week. It is well appointed and always clean! The location is perfect, we spent many days down at Zorn Beach, but were also able to do a quick day trip to visit a friend in Kalkaska, stopped in Boyne City for dinner, and went zip lining over at Boyne Highlands one afternoon. We love the fully supplied kitchen, as we make many meals there. There isn't anything you could ask for. We travel with another family and the spaces are just perfect. We enjoy both living areas and and to have two master suites is an added bonus! We all enjoy the hammock in the back perfect for relaxing in the afternoon or evening. Each evening, we end up on the beautiful front porch eating dinner or just sipping wine. We LOVE this property!
Glad to have you and your crew back each year! The things you mentioned are the things that I always hope will be appreciated.
Art shows, outdoor musical entertainment/festivals, food festivals, boat parades, indoor waterpark, canoeing, color tours in fall, carriage rides in summer.
Walking distance to beach, shopping, restaurants, grocery and coffee shops.
