La Dolce Vita is a charming, 2 bedroom, 3 bath St. John Waterfront rental located just south of the peaceful town of Coral Bay. Surrounded by 376 ft of pristine shoreline and breathtaking views of the Caribbean, La Dolce Vita sits on an acre of lush tropical landscaping waiting for you to explore . Native stone retaining walls and stairs lead you to a sunbathing deck and the waters edge, inviting a refreshing swim or snorkel. An exceptional spot to begin or end the day in peaceful meditation.

The U shaped, paved driveway makes for easy in and out access as well as ample parking for several cars.

Custom mahogany cabinets, Corian countertops and Italian tile floors bring warmth and elegance along with easy maintenance. The house is tastefully and comfortably furnished and the ocean breeze flows freely through every room. Though not really necessary, the bedrooms are air conditioned. Most of the time, guests find their favorite spot in the hammock or in one of the over sized chairs on the terrace. A perfect place to relax and enjoy as the balconies have a unique railing system that allows for unobstructed water views and the feeling of being on a cruise ship instead of on land.

There are actually 2 incredibly well equipped kitchens. One of the bedrooms is also a separate studio, allowing for greater versatility and privacy when you are more than 2 people. It has a separate driveway entrance and stone stairway leading to the lower garden and water.

La Dolce Vita is a privately owned and managed home. The owners have lived on St. John since 2000 and are ready to assist you in anyway they can to assure you have a great vacation. 'Captain' Fernando is your on-island host and will thrill you with his enthusiasm and dedication to the St. John lifestyle. Be sure to ask about 'Fernando's Republic', which is a 30' Hunter, for a memorable day on the water snorkeling around St. John or a trip to the BVI's.

We were both born in the mountains. One is from Colorado and the other from Northern Italy. La Dolce Vita was created out of the labors of love. We hope you will enjoy our home and property as much as we do.

Why The Owner chose US Virgin Islands

I think it was really the people that made us choose to move to St. John. Great community spirit. People always say that they want to 'retire' and move to an island. (We moved but we didn't retire!!!)

What makes this house unique

Having a house on the water in St. John is an incredible luxury. Sometimes the water is so clear and still we feel we're looking into an aquarium instead of the ocean. Having an acre of waterfront land is great because you don't feel any neighbors and the gardens are beautifully landscaped so one can really walk around and enjoy the property.

Amazing Island Relief !

This has been our 3rd time to stay at La Dolce Vita and every time it gets better and better. You will never beat the view and the layed back location in the heart of Coral Bay. Dorothy and Fernando always make the experience a fantastic memory that makes you go back again! They are the most hospitable people and surround you with every thing you need. The option to just walk right down form the house to the water is an incredible feature/benefit. If you want to have a great vacation on an incredible island and experience it staying in a personalized home--this it! The Copelands

Absolutely perfect

My wife and I stayed in Coral Bay for 5 nights and La Dolce Vita was the absolutely perfect rental for our trip. The home and grounds were meticulously cared for and had all the features and amenities we could think of. We especially enjoyed the hot tub, the hammock and the sitting area right off the water. The views of Coral Bay were incredible - we ate in most nights and enjoying the evening views from the balcony. The location is very close to markets that had everything we needed (Calabash Market was less than a minute away and was well stocked, including fresh fish and produce) and it was also a quick drive to hiking and snorkeling activities on the Eastern side of the island. Snorkeling right off the shore also offered an abundance of coral and fish. We saw sea turtles and some rays as well. Would definitely recommend for anyone but this made for the perfect getaway for two. The owners were also very friendly, informative and great to work with. We hope to return again someday.

We hope to return!!

My husband and I stayed here late September and aim to go back and take our adult daughters and their significant others to stay here because we loved it so much! Loved the location and the views were indescribably gorgeous from the decks. The house has great architectural features and is very well-equipped. We never even used the indoor showers...as the outdoor shower was comfortable, clean, and all we needed! Fernando had picked fresh starfruits right from their yard as a welcome treat for us! It was delicious! The landscaping and grounds are amazing eye-candy! We rented our Jeep at St.Thomas airport and ferried over to Cruz Bay. Went to Star Market and liquor store before driving over to Coral Bay. There is a small market and some liquor available in Coral Bay but we encourage you to plan ahead and stock up some prior to leaving Cruz Bay. It will take about 1 hour to drive across the island. I do recommend people do NOT attempt to arrive in the dark and in the rain if you've never driven the island before and are unfamiliar with the roads and driveway entrance-- thankful for Fernando helping direct us out of our little predicament and that we were in a four-wheel drive Jeep! We did have a little trouble getting the A/C unit in our bedroom to cool the room and it was an adjustment to adapt to the humidity, for us, but we got along pretty well anyhow because we were mainly in swimsuits the entire visit anyhow! Maybe we'll get the meet Dorothy next year when we bring our family!?

Owner's Response: Coral Bay is home to Josephine's Organic Greens and Pickles in Paradise Deli and we have 2 small grocery stores with a brand new larger one opening this month at Cocoloba Shopping Center by Aqua Bistro, making shopping even more convenient in Coral Bay. Our house is about 8.5 miles or a 20 minute drive from the ferry dock in Cruz Bay. The winding roads and driving on the left is something one might need to get use to and understandably, it can take a little longer if it's your first visit, it's raining and your in the dark. No worries, you're on island time, so enjoy the adventure, it's all worthwhile and that's why it's called "La Dolce Vita!" (The Sweet Life)

Simply Wonderful!

My husband and I stayed here for 5 days and how I wish it could have been longer!! The house is simply amazing and we really hope to return one day. Snorkeling from the house was fun and its location to restaurants and beaches was really convenient. We enjoyed the hammock and hot tub and all of the wonderful amenities. You can't go wrong with this place!!

Pretty Darn Perfect

We spent a week in La Dolce Vita in June and it was ideal (four people in our 50s). We snorkeled every day on a different beach, all within a 10 minute drive of the house, and took a couple of very nice hikes. The house lives up to the pictures and is perfectly well appointed. It even has respectable Internet wifi, which is handy for weather reports. The two bedrooms were just fine, and one of our party slept in the living room upstairs on the foldout, which he said was comfortable. From our perspective, maybe the house’s best attribute is the ability to snorkel straight off the rocks from the property. It’s a little tricky getting in and out without getting stuck by an urchin, and it wasn’t as fabulous as the noted snorkel spots; but pretty good, super-convenient snorkeling is a wonderful thing. And the house is just a nice place to hang out. La Dolce Vita, indeed.

The best grocery shopping on the East side of St John is the Calabash Market just south of the house. It’s fairly new and beats out the other two options in Coral Bay: Lily’s and Love City. For more serious groceries, it’s the Starfish Market in Cruz Bay. Mostly, we cooked at the house, but we had a good lunch at Miss Vie’s and nice dinners at Aqua Bistro and Miss Lucy’s.

Other than a bit of chop from the wind on the mostly-exposed bays, the snorkeling was great. We went snorkeling at Salt Pond, Maho, Hansen Bay (at Miss Vie’s Snack Shack), Haulover North and South, and Waterlemon. Maho was the easiest and had many turtles as well as a reef at one end. Haulover south was decent; North was better, though we stuck to the East side and not the purportedly better West side, because of pretty strong winds. Salt Pond was very nice, but the rocks out in the bay were a tough swim before we got some snorkeling experience built up. Hansen Bay, especially around Pelican rock, was excellent. And we’d have to count Waterlemon Cay as the best. A couple of us brought 3mm shorty wet-suits. All of us started feeling cold after an hour or more of snorkeling. When we broke out the wetsuits, we were more comfortable (and buoyant).

All in all, it was a great vacation, and La Dolce Vita was a terrific headquarters. It’s hard to see how it could have been better. Dorothy and Fernando were perfectly pleasant to work with, and really want to ensure everything is perfect. We’d certainly love to go back.

LA DOLCE VITA RENTAL POLICY:
1A Freeman's Ground, Coral Bay St. John VI  00831-0838

1.Check-in time is 3 p.m. and Check-Out time is 10 a.m.
2. No smoking inside the house.  
3. Pets are not permitted.
4. Illegal drugs are prohibited on the property.  
5.  Damage Deposit:  The $300 damage deposit is due with the final payment and is fully refundable within 21 days of departure providing:
a. Nothing is missing and NO damage is done to the house or it's contents beyond normal wear and tear and there is not sand in the hot tub.
b. Keys are left when checking out and the house is broom swept.
c. No charges have incurred from long distance phone calls or other services acquired during the stay and the A/C is not used with the windows open.
6. Guests staying over are limited to the number of guests on the contract.  If a group is misrepresented, you will be asked to pay $100 per person per night or vacate the house without a refund. The maximum the house sleeps is six (6).
7.  PAYMENT:  50% of rental is required at the time of booking and the balance is due 60 days before arrival.  Reservations are not confirmed without a deposit.
8.  CANCELLATIONS:  All reservations cancelled will incur a 20% handling fee.  No refund for cancellations made within 60 days of your arrival unless we can rebook your space.  Because of this strict policy, we ask you to obtain travelers insurance to prevent loss from unforeseen events that will change your plans.
9. La Dolce Vita is a privately owned home. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm from their use of the premises or others they invite to use the premise. The owners are not responsible for accidents,illness or injuries that occurs while on the premise nor are they responsible for the loss of valuables and personal belongings of the guests.
