Tree House Feeling

  • 4 of 5

This studio is great. It felt like we were sleeping in a treehouse in the rain forest. We didn’t spend a ton of time in the room because we were exploring the island, but it was a great home base for sleeping and showering. The surrounding area is remote and very private. We slept every night with the windows wide open to hear the wildlife and encourage the breeze. It rained most of the time we were there which made it seem even more exotic. There was a space heater available which we used to dry out our boots after trekking to the lava entry point in the rain! We didn’t use the hot tub, but we took a peek, and it looked well cared for. The fresh flowers sprinkled throughout the room were a nice touch. There is no A/C but the plethora of windows, and the ceiling fans, kept it comfortable. The only negative to the room would be the shower. It’s a bit snug and dated. Replacing it with a glass sided shower would improve the space exponentially. A washer and dryer would be a great addition as well.

Quaint Rainforest Cottage

  • 4 of 5

Clean, roomy, Great bed!!! and well appointed with lots of fresh towels and kitchen items. The Wi-Fi worked great and the cottage had a nice TV with all channels we looked for. You are in a rain forest: short stretch of dirt road, very dark at night (can be hard to see road signs if you go out or come in after dark which may be difficult if your elderly or don't see well at night) Our GPS worked pretty well and we were able to navigate pretty easy. There is also lots of chirping (its pretty loud, we loved it and slept great). No bugs bothered us outside however at the time of year we came (early spring) but the unit is fully screened. We kept the windows open and enjoyed the fresh air and sounds of nature. Would stay here again.

Great location just outside the park

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful place that made us feel like we were staying in a treehouse in the middle of a rainforest. Perhaps the best attribute is the cottage is just minutes outside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The convenience allowed us to come and go to and from the park without worrying about a long drive ahead. A two night stay was perfect for us to explore a lot of the park. And have others have stated, the hot tub after a long day of hiking was wonderful. The bed was also extremely comfortable.

One day as we were waking up, the house began to shake. We wondered what in the world that could have been. A few minutes later, a smaller but still noticeable shake. We come to find out that earthquakes are quite common in Volcano due to the lava flowing under the surface. We thought it was way cool and added to the stories we could tell from this side of the island.

One small tip...if you're planning to see the place where the lava flows into the ocean, go in from the east side, not from the west side inside the park. Go shortly before dusk, make the 4+ mile hike or bike ride to the lava/ocean entry point, and be amazed at the beauty of nature.

Overall we had an awesome stay and would recommend.

Quiet and peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

This trip we decided to stay in Volcano a few days to save on driving. This place was perfect for us. It's in a remote area but still only 5 minutes to Volcano Village and just a bit further to the park entrance. The unit was very clean and well equipped. May want to get there during daylight hours when checking in as would be harder to find in the dark. Lots of cable tv which is good when it's pouring down rain outside. At nighttime when the skies are clear, the stars are amazing! Would definitely stay again!

Wonderful Cottage

  • 4 of 5

This place is awesome. It is a little secluded but if your wanting to experience everything the area has to offer this is a great location. It is very close to the volcano park where you could spend days exploring and it is conveniently located to get to the lava viewing areas. We cooked lots of meals and never and any trouble the entire stay. It was nice to escape the city and relax! I highly recommend this place.
