This 1930's vintage seaside cottage is located at 4214 6th Street in the desirable East Beach community, on a large beachfront home site, with ample lawn space for play. Our charming one story home features hardwood floors throughout the house. A spacious kitchen, open dining room, large gathering area, and sitting porches on both ends of the house create an inviting flow. A large screened back porch, cooled by ocean breezes and overhead fans, is the idyllic spot for morning coffee or afternoon tea and communing with friends and family. Off the central living area, are four bedrooms with the adjoining three full baths.
Though this home is oceanfront, approximately 300+ feet of land has built up over time between the house and the beach, and ocean views are obstructed by the vegetation and natural dune line. Access to our noticeably quiet section of beach, though, is an easy 2-3 minute walk by path. A beach pull-cart is provided to ease transport of your towels and chairs, etc.
If you are looking for an excursion to the quaint village, it is merely a short bike ride to the pier, restaurants and shopping area. And don't forget to check out the Island's Water Park! St. Simons has something to offer all ages!
PLEASE CHECK AVAILABILITY ON OUR BOOKING CALENDAR!!! (It is always up-to-date. Ignore the 'last date updated' as it is usually in error-thanks)
**NOTE- This cottage may not be rented for house parties, and can not be rented for the purpose of holding a wedding and/or reception or large gathering. The maximum occupancy can not be exceeded w/o prior permission. Failure to comply will result in immediate eviction without refund.
A nice perk of this property is that the owner lives a short distance away and is readily available should any issue need attention.
Don't miss more pictures on the East Beach House website, link below. We look forward to hearing from you!
Loved this house, very quiet area. Great place for young kids, loved having the back yard to play in with a porch view. Super convienant walk to the beach. Loved that the house was furnished with beach chairs and wagons to take our stuff back and forth. My 3 y/o son tried to convince me this was our new house and we weren't going home! Will definitely be staying here again!!
This charming East Beach house if full of character and old-style ambience. The location is perfect; 5 minutes from almost anything on the island but feels like you are away from all hustle and bustle. I love East Beach, and this house made my morning beach walk such a pleasure. This is the best place on the island. Natalie responded to our needs quickly and efficiently and made things easy.
Our family vacation at the East Beach House exceeded my expectations! The previous reviewer gave good specific details which we found to be true. The house was perfect for our family of 6 adults and our granddaughter. Thanks for the pac-n-play! My sons-in-law were pleased with the big screen tv and plenty of seating in the living room. Lots of tables for playing games and a very spacious and well stocked kitchen.
But the best part - the porches! We spent as much time on them as possible. There were plenty of chairs and it felt like we were secluded. The beach cart was great for the short trip to the beach and we enjoyed the easy walk. I went two mornings for sunrise and it is well worth it!
We were very pleased with our week at the beach house and would love to come back!
Our experience at the East Beach house was perfect. The property is an authentic, historic, St. Simons beach cottage. It is very clean and well maintained. I am not sure what era the house is from, but I want to say 1920s or 30s. It still has many of the original features - beautiful hardwood floors, classic wood paneling (some painted, some not), large, paned windows and even the little iron latches for the door knobs. We ran into the owner on the last day (who was super nice!) and found out that the house has been in the same family since 1954! It really shows! It has been lovingly cared for over the years. They have made modern updates for comfort, without spoiling the vintage charm. Frankly, it is hard to believe that a house such as this still exists in such immaculate condition.
The entire house was very clean. The kitchen has been updated and is very well stocked. The common area is quite large, with open kitchen/dining/living layout. There are glass doors at both ends, which will afford through sea breezes, if open. All rooms have ceiling fans. Many of the furnishings are unique vintage pieces that really suit the house. There is original artwork throughout - cool paintings and prints, small sculptures and vintage maps. They even have a piano!! There are 2 original, updated bathrooms, with white tile tubs. An extra bathroom was added at some point, with vaulted ceiling and skylight.
We truly fell in love with the enormous ocean side porch, where you can hear the ocean waves and feel the ocean breeze. It looks onto a grassy lawn, with natural area beyond, until you reach the ocean. The house is ocean front, but there is a short walk to the beach. The path directly next to house makes it easy. And they do provide a pull cart to carry beach paraphernalia, if needed. The beach directly in front of house had only a few people on it while we were there.
The East Beach neighborhood is charming and seems to be a mix of year round residents and vacationers, which gives one a sense of real island life. It is a short drive to the Village which has a plethora of very good restaurants, cute shops and a pier. Adjacent to the Village is an ocean side park with those fantastic moss covered trees, the historic lighthouse, and a nice public pool. Other highlights were Fort Frederica, Christ Church and a Jekyll Island day trip.
Lastly, the property manager was very helpful and easy to work with. I would highly recommend visiting the East Beach House!
We so enjoyed the vintage cottage...There was ample room for all 6 ladies to enjoy their space. However, our favorite spot was the porch where we probably spent 90% of our wake hours. The neighbors were very friendly...One lady came by because she saw a Tennessee tag on my car. After talking for quite a while, she and I finally determined she was my son's 3rd grade teacher! She lives in the neighborhood. Another lady told us she would be sure the garbage was at the pick-up area, since the regular Tuesday was a holiday. As you can see, you have a friendly neighborhood!! I don't know when we have enjoyed a week more...We loved St. Simons Island...our first time back there in 17 years. The food was excellent...guess my favorite was the Georgia Sea Grill. Thank you so much for your kindness in making the arrangements...We will be back again!! ~~Jean M.
The pictures truly don't do this house justice. When my group first walked into the house, we were blown away with the amount of space that the house had to offer, and the layout of the house was very conducive to having a great time. The location could not have been better.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We would definitely stay again.
