We took our first trip to Europe in late June 2016. The owner of this apartment, Blanche, is an elegant and kind French lady who speaks limited English. She has been very patient and professional through the process of booking, always answering my questions through emails within 24 hours, thus putting my heart and mind at easy. One week before our arrival, she sent us a reminder and confirmed that she should be waiting for us in the apartment 2 hours after our plane arrival time. After we got off the taxi, we had some trouble finding the apartment because we went right through the entrance of the building into the courtyard where no stairs or elevator could be found to get to the higher floor. We met one resident in the courtyard, but alas, we could not understand each other because of the language barrier! Luckily, by trying our different doors, we quickly realized that the stairs and elevator were located in the left wing of the entrance BEFORE getting into the courtyard. This was entirely my own fault since I forgot Blanche's instructions: "Under the porch , left building, left door". We knocked on the door of the apartment in the second floor since Blanche wrote in her previous email that her apartment was on the second floor, a mom with a little boy came answering the door and pointed upstairs. I realized later that "2nd floor" in France (or maybe most of the Europe) was equivalent to the "3rd floor" here since the ground floor was not numbered.
Indeed Blanche herself was waiting for us, we got to stay in her tastefully-decorated, well-located (we walked to most of the scene spots and took cabs back), well-equipped (She bought a very nice, brand-new sleeper sofa for my daughter during our stay to replace the old one in the living room) and spacious (at 440 sq. ft., it is bigger than all other hotels we had stayed in Europe for the rest of our 22-days vacation) apartment for five nights.
We liked the fact that this apartment and its surrounding area is very quiet, despite its location right next to the city center with busy streets. The grocery store (Mono Prix) was about 200 meters away, and we found some very nice bakery (Paul) and restaurant (Chez Papa's, etc.) one block away. We used the refrigerator, oven, washer/drier, and bathroom vanities, all in excellent conditions. The only thing I wish Blanche should add to her apartment is detailed instructions on how to use these appliances in English to avoid trial-and-error style from tanents
The apartment was perfect for our trip. We were tourists who wanted to find a place where we could experience Paris. The apartment was right across the street from the hop on hop bus (Hard Rock Cafe). Down the street from a central metro station - close to everything. There is a local market around the corner for food and beverages.
Blanche (the owner) was amazing! She was overly accomodaing and helped us make the trip C'est Manafique! The apartment was stocked with everything you needed.
The apartment was very reasonably priced - but don't be alarmed. This apartment is a steal and you WILL NOT be disappointed!
Thank you Blanche!
a nice welcome with many informations on Paris. You can discover paris by walk.
