Overview

About the property

House, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

A cozy cottage with an extended porch and hot tub, this is the perfect place to barbecue, sip wine, or enjoy a good book -- all while taking in the incredible views of the Sonoma Valley vineyards.

Tucked away at the end of a quiet lane atop Moon Mountain, this serene spot overlooks the entire Sonoma Valley. On a clear day you can even see the San Francisco skyline!

The private outdoor hot tub and the large porch are perfect spots for unwinding and enjoying your heavenly retreat.

Leave your worries behind as you drift off in peace and quiet, and rekindle a romance with someone special or simply give yourself that alone time you have been longing for.

The cottage is fully equipped with all you'll need for a weekend or a weeklong getaway--there are a couple things to note, however:

1) There's no Wifi at the cottage, and cell service is spotty (many guests love this fact!). There is a landline, and cell phones usually work fine for texting and short calls.

2) We are located on the top of a Sonoma mountain, which means the views are stunning but also that we are in the midst of nature and with that can come natural things like bugs and occasional critters, though generally not inside the cottage :). So long as this sounds good to you we're happy to host!

**Sorry, no single night stays! Please see the calendar for minimum night stays, which vary by season.**

Note: We keep the calendar up to date, so be sure to check there before inquiring

About The Owner

I'm honored to manage this beautiful property. It is quite possibly the loveliest place in all of wine country, so I feel very lucky to be able to help others experience it. The estate it is on has been owned by the same family for several years. The cottage is exquisitely maintained and professionally managed.

The Owner purchased this house in 2000

Why The Owner chose Sonoma County

Close to the town of Sonoma, yet far enough to feel you're in your own private world

Cleanliness an issue. Property has seen better days.

  • 1 of 5

Everything about this rental is old - even the lockbox. Flies were all over the bathroom and bedroom. Sink in kitchen chipping and rusted. Slip covers and blankets cover the furniture most likely to hide stained and frayed upholstery. Landscaping was over grown. Washer and dryer from the 1980's were sitting on the deck. Absolutely zero cell reception.

We used the shower to clean up and then left. Never staying any of the 3 nights booked. Owner was not willing to make any amount of a refund.

Amazing views, total privacy, HIGHLY recommend!

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for a quiet romantic setting with beautiful views, this is the place! We ate breakfast each morning looking out on the vineyard below and watching the wildlife - jack rabbits, a family of quail with the cutest little babies, lizards and too many types of birds to count! The cottage is light and bright, very comfortable and homey. The kitchen is well set up for making meals if you don't want to eat out all the time, but it's located close enough to Sonoma Square to make it a quick and easy drive to dine out. Our only complaint was that the hot tub had so many chemicals that it was difficult to breathe while in it. And we would recommend putting a small bistro table out on the porch to make morning coffee a little more convenient. Otherwise, this place is total paradise. We hope to visit again soon!

Sonoma Cottage Charm with a Million dollar view!

  • 5 of 5

OH my gosh were to start, our cottage was a dream for us. Coming down the lavender lined driveway way with the mountain view in the background I knew that we were in for something special! The cottage was so charming and comfy, packed with everything we needed for cooking in the kitchen and we even enjoyed grilling out side often. How could we not with this million dollar view!

We could not wait to grab our coffee in the morning listen to the birds chirp, watch the fog roll down the valley and reveal the vineyard in front of us. Then in the evening after a day of wine tasting (so many great wineries in the Sonoma area are just a 5-10 minute drive!) enjoyed our dinner on the deck watching the doves and falcons fly in the vineyard below us. It was so relaxing and secluded. We did enjoy the hot tub nightly and our morning walks along the mountain road. The bed and lines where very comfy as any hotel. We can't wait to return in the future this cottage will be one of our most memorable trips to Sonoma! Thank you for sharing this special place with us.

As a small business owner myself I am always looking for ways to make things better, a few things that I thought I'd share: finding the place was a little challenging for us if some discreet markers (like of a moon or something) could have been placed starting at the road along the vineyard that would have been helpful we are not ones to start driving down unmarked driveways in the mountains. We also would have like to say hi to the onsite person just peace of mind just knowing where to go for help if needed and who that person is, since it's a VERY remote area and rental we were a little skittish at first. Then we LOVED the outdoor space, but the lights in the tree's did not work at night.

Lovely place!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful views of the vineyards ... Perched high on a mountain. Very nice place ... Big deck in the back... Nice fireplace that worked well. Great hot tub overlooking the vineyards and the trees/mountains. Nice drive up the mountain to get to the home. Close to the restaurants and shops in town. The only issue we had was the chemicals in the hot tub seemed too strong. I know hot tubs need a lot of chemicals but the fumes were very strong... neither me or my wife could stay in the hot tub for too long as the fumes were too strong breathing them in. We have been in quite a few hot tubs and never had any issues. I imagine there may have just been too much of one of the chemicals added that day. All in all a great place and would recommend staying here ... Cozy and private and quiet in a beautiful setting. Thanks for sharing your beautiful place.

So close, yet so secluded

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we've rented this sweet cottage and honestly, one of the main reasons we decided to extend our trip and spend some time in Sonoma again. The location is perfect if you want to be close to things, but still feel remote. There's something about the setting that invites instant relaxation. Now, this is not the swankest place one could stay. It is what staying in the wine country used to be about - a cozy place in nature to get away from the city. The bed is comfortable and the furniture is as well. The hot tub setting is lovely too. We like to cook our own meals and while you're set up to do so here (and the kitchen is better equipped than the last time we visited) you may still be missing some key equipment - like baking pans in our instance BUT this in no way impacted our enjoyment. We had a small plumbing problem while we were there (due to the torrential rains) and we called the management company and someone was sent out to take a look in less than hour. We usually stay in houses and apartments when we travel and I can tell you that this is the detail that matters - when you need help with something, someone is there. And by the way, the photos do not do justice to the views or setting - it's pretty magical.

Our quiet retreat in the vineyards

We have been coming back for the last 10 or so years. Great place to get away from it all. A bit rustic so be prepared. We love it.
