About Christina Sidoti
I am a chef and a designer with a great passion for a great many things! From baking cakes and cooking for family, friends and clients to finding properties that need attention and renovating, restoring and designing beautiful cozy welcoming homes. I care deeply about our environment and children and animals. I adore my little family. I am a grandmother, I practice yoga (I have Yoga mats and props for 2 here!) I have found that I have a real gift of hospitality and I love entertaining and making our guests very cozy and welcome. I am a perfectionist and am detail oriented, so making my guests stay incredible and assisting in travel arrangements, reservations, recommendations from massages after a long day walking to where to eat or where to go for a run is my pleasure. I love all seasons, they have something to offer. I am politically active, I am a passionate person and I love all things aesthetically pleasing. We have loved renting our other home and have had extraordinary experiences and we are excited by the opportunity to show our guests our favorite place in New York...Astoria Queens where I spent many of my childhood years.

Why Christina Sidoti chose Ditmars Steinway
Oh this property has magic! There is no obstruction of light from the back to the front of the house which is unusual in an urban area. The back of the house has a small urban garden and gate (alley beyond) with low rise homes around so the sun streams in! The front faces the Hellgate bridge. I have loved restoring this old home. This was the sight of the housing for Steinway Piano company and these homes were built in the 1920's. I left the facade the same but the interior was completely gutted to make way for a bright and modern space, decorated in a mixed aesthetic. Everything is sparkling new and lovely. I chose this home when looking to buy last year because of the light, the proximity to the subway and the park, the ease to walk to restaurants and local bars, and there is wonderful food shopping. And, of course the easy ten minute drive into Manhattan and the five minute drive to La Guardia airport. I love it here.
What makes this Townhome unique
I fell in love with this home and area because it still has the feeling of old worldliness. As I walk up the streets I see grape vines, basil and tomato plants growing from even the smallest patch of green. In Summer there are roses in every garden! We use Astoria Park daily, playing tennis, or running on the track, or just hanging out on the great lawn watching the sunset over the NYC skyline - it's all wonderful. The new Astoria Ferry landing brings us to Manhattan in 20 minutes passing under the great bridges and costs $2.75 and from lower manhattan we transfer to the ferries out to the NYC Beaches! This home is centrally located to access the airports, Long Island, Westchester, Manhattan, Brooklyn and New Jersey! The water front is wonderful to enjoy, and there is no shortage of wonderful things to do! We have a swing in the front garden to watch the sunsets over the Hellgate Bridge. The kitchen has a sliding door onto a deck where you can have breakfast and plan your days activities. There is a garden with herbs growing for your meals. We have a custom extra long sofa to curl up on after a long day. The master en suite shower is like a spa. We have the finest linens and towels to make you feel special and cozy. The floors in the house were brought in from Maine and are made of red birch, milled for us and finished with natural oil. We used only non VOC finishes in our home to keep this space clean and pure. There are A/C split systems in each room for custom comfort. This home and this neighborhood are deeply connected to the hustle and bustle and excitement of New York City but it feels like a little hamlet tucked away that after long days has a pleasant and elegant warmth to come home to. Every comfort has been arranged, and there is a local housekeeper that can come in if needed. Let me know if you have any further questions. If you need to house more people you can look up Property 1441280 as we have now opened up a lovely studio apartment

Great family home for NYC trip
The property is situated in a quiet and safe neighborhood in Queens which was very important to us with 3 children. It was about 10-15 min walk to the subway which took us directly to Manhattan and even coming back late at night felt very safe.
Christine was extremely accommodating for us after another property owner left us in the lurch with just 2 weeks before our departure but she did everything possible to adapt her schedule so we could stay at the property for our weeks trip to NY and made us feel very welcome and was able to help whenever we needed it.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property for its location, style and space and a very responsive and caring owner to go with it. Thanks Christine
Wonderful updated property in Astoria, Queens
This is a wonderful property in a beautiful area of Astoria, Queens. The house is very tastefully decorated. Christina was excellent to work with and very responsive to our needs. Close to the subway, excellent restaurants, and in a safe and quiet area. We had a wonderful time.
Awwwww...what a lovely review...I was so happy to accommodate you and your family at our place. Wishing you a lovely summer :) Christina
Lovely home, well located for all our activities in Astoria and Manhattan. Host is accessible, accommodating and helpful.
I am always grateful for the time my lovely guests take to write a review in my behalf. Thank you and it was lovely meeting you, you were lovely guests.
Better than promised experience in a terrific location.
This spacious getaway was more than we expected when planning our short stay over New Years. The home was sparkling clean and had just about anything you could need to still feel at home while traveling. Everything was just as described and even had parking available in the street which was a plus. We were able to get into Manhattan in about 30 min by train which made things even more convenient.
Christina, the host, made us feel very welcome in her home and was always available to answer questions. She gave us a few referrals on restaurants in the area which turned out to be amazing.
We are definitely planning on returning here on our next visit to the area.
You guys were so incredibly lovely and joyful. An absolute pleasure to communicate with! I am only sorry that I didn't have more than a fleeting meeting with you! I thank you for the thoughtful and glowing review! And, Astoria misses you. OMG you also left our apartment so sparkling clean it hardly looked as if you were here. :) Wishing you an incredible 2019 and see you again!
Location was good
Perfect for family stay in NYC
We were a party of 8 with 4 children between ages of 10 and 12 staying at this property for a long weekend. The owner was extremely helpful and went beyond our expectations, even providing us with some delicious bagels and other snacks when we were concerned about food and a late arrival. The property itself is light, cozy warm, clean and very nicely decorated. The downstairs sofa was absolutely fine for a couple of the children to sleep and the rest of us had comfortable beds and bathrooms with plenty of nice towels and even toiletries. It is slightly out of the action which means a trip into Manhattan. On part of the weekend that we were there, the subway closed which made it less easy. However, there is a nice walk to the subway (made the mistake of doing this at night with luggage - should have taken a cab - there are plenty at the subway station) and also a really fun ferry which is a good walk but a nice one and we enjoyed it as part of sightseeing. The advantage of being out of Manhattan too is how quiet it is. I never expected that in NYC. The area is pleasant and safe-feeling and we had no problem getting an Uber when we needed a taxi. There is a handy corner shop at the end of the street for basics - it even had tonic and limes! I would highly recommend this property and send hearty thanks to Christine for her care and attention.
How delightful is was for me to see this unexpected review! I am so glad that all of you had such a nice time. You were so lovely to communicate with from the very first - I am only sorry that I was unable to meet you. In reply to your observation about the about the tranquility of our little "pocket of the city" - it is certainly one of my favorite things about this area of Astoria - how close we are to Manhattan by ferry or subway or car but then to "escape" the bustling madness and be in this "hamlet" away from the noise for evenings and morning respite. It is unusual in New York! I would like to add that my place looked really lovely when you left - to see my home treated with such care and courtesy warms my heart. Wishing you and your family a very happy holiday season.
Oh where or where to begin to tell you about Astoria! It feels like "the little city that time forgot" within New York City! Astoria and Queens has more cross section of international representation than any city in the world! And our food and culture prove this. It is almost impossible not to gain weight here unless you walk everywhere which we love to do. Astoria Park is delightful for morning and evening walks, the sunsets are spectacular over the river and New York City proper. Everything imaginable is possible here. From hoping on our local subway (this one is above ground which is delightful for views!) and then enjoying Manhattan and Brooklyn and all that is offered, then returning to Astoria and LIC for the wonderful galleries, museums and of course restaurants. Our Greek and other ethnic food offerings are amazing.
