Our Edinburgh Villa has been a holiday rental for nearly 10 years now, and we have many returning guests. Scroll down to visit our own website for more information and perhaps special rates for last minute reservations!
The Villa is a house with garden located in the centre of Edinburgh, a spacious and comfy base from which to explore Edinburgh and Scotland. Ideal for 2 guests up to 7 guests.
The house is provided with bath and hand towels for each guest, bed linens, free wifi internet, outdoor games, patio set, quiet sunroom for planning your day, Edinburgh brochures, maps, 3 televisions all with DVD players, DVD movies, Wii with games, board games, lego, and much more.
5 minutes walk to a good sized grocery store with bakery, newsagents, pharmacy, butchers etc, and just 10 minutes walk to the Zoo. Murrayfield stadium is a short walk too if you are visiting for a concert or rugby game.
If you walk a few minutes one direction you can catch one of the many passing double decker buses to Princes Street and the Royal Mile. If you walk 5 minutes the other direction you can catch the tram as this street does have a tram stop (also ideal for the airport!). A Tram stops every 10-12 minutes and they run between Edinburgh airport and Princes Street with the Villas tram stop just 3 stops away (that's only a 10min journey to Princes Street).
'An ideal location' is what many of our guests have written in the Villas guest book.
Free Parking at the front door if you have a car and on the same side of town as Edinburgh airport which is very handy for those arriving by plane. The airport is only 15 minutes away by taxi or 20 minutes by Tram (coming mid 2014).
The sunroom also has a fun Eero Aarnio inspired ball chair - a room within a room'. This Conservatory which is just off the kitchen leads to the garden and offers a wonderful area to sit and plan your day. The house has a feeling of space with high ceilings, big windows, and Victorian detail such as cornicing, decorative fireplaces, victorian tiles in the foyer. The heating system is new, gas, and very efficient, and the house is lovely and warm in the colder months such as in November when we often have American guests over for Thanksgiving.
We are also located opposite a 18 hole golf course open to visitors and with golf club rentals.
The perfect base to explore Edinburgh. Visit our website for day trip suggestions from the nearby train station.

The bus trip is only 15 minutes to the castle and drives you past historic monuments and buildings. Scottish -raised in the Highlands! However I lived in the USA in Northern Virginia for 13 years and moved back to Edinburgh a few years ago.
Astra Foster purchased this villa in 2006
The Villa was bought as a 2nd home when I lived in Virginia. A base where the family could stay for holidays. Somewhere easy for getting to the tourist attractions but a bit more space to relax, and get away from the street noise in the evenings, and with a garden.
A home from home. Lovely space to relax in, peaceful city centre accommodation. Perfect location for exploring all of Edinburgh.
Splendid home! We felt like a local and we felt very much at home in this house. Lots of character and very fitting for an Edinburgh experience.
I was one of the 6 ladies that Nadine spoke of. This was my first time abroad. This house is wonderful. The whole house is so clean, and so nicely decorated. The kitchen had everything we could need, even a French Press coffee maker! We were blessed to be there for the festival and for the Tattoo. What an awesome treat! I would stay here again if I ever went back to Edinburgh. The walk to the market was easy and such a treat for me! Thank you Astra for making my special trip so comfortable. I celebrated my 66th birthday while I was there!
We were in Scotland for 10 days and this property completely filled our needs. We were traveling 6 women and we never once felt uncomfortable or unsafe. This unit was comfortable and cozy. We spent a lot of our time in the glass atrium. The corner market is a comfortable 5 minute walk, and the tram is only a couple of minutes more. But, if you are planning on taking the tram back and forth into town (your best bet... learn the system quickly, it's easy), make sure everyone in your party is able to make the 7 or 8 minute walk to the location and them a slight uphill walk to the tram stop. We did not anticipate this and my mother could not make the tram rides, so we had to rely on taxi service for most of our trips into town. This can become quite costly. Other than that, the location was great, the house was comfortable, the bedrooms very accommodating, the neighborhood is beautiful. We loved every minute of it. Also, if you are planning on sharing beds and are traveling from an area where bedroom standard is queen-sized, take note that the beds are full/doubles, which seems to be standard in the UK. Our agent, Astra, made booking easy. I would stay here again if I ever made a trip to Scotland in the future.
beautiful property exactly as shown in the owner's pictures, welcoming, large, friendly, homely and comfortable. Great location convenient to sights by taxi and bus. Nearby groceries allowed easy meal preparation in full kitchen. Beautiful rooms and comfy beds, and overall, the chance to live like locals! Excellent host. Highly recommended... amazing value, and hugely enjoyed by our family of 6, grandparents, parents, and kids.
Highly recommend this wonderful house in Edinburgh. Our family of 7 - 2 adults and 5 kids (ages 4 - 16) found it roomy and comfortable. We enjoyed the well equipped kitchen and appreciated the notebook of information left by the owners. Easy access to the bus line to get downtown. A good market in walking distance. Parking right out front if needed. Owner was kind enough to come over on the Sunday morning of our departure after we realized we had locked some of our belongings inside when we were leaving. Wish we could have spent more time in Edinburgh!
