This exclusive villa in Bonifati, Calabria is available to rent in the undiscovered southern tip of Italy where good food, sun and friendly locals will make your holiday a very special experience.
The villa has been finished to a very high specification and includes three double bedrooms. There are also two bathrooms. Villa Case Rosse is around 100km and just over 1 hour away from the airport of Lamezia, with direct flights from many international destinations.
Naples, Bari and Brindisi are other airports that are 3 - 4 hours drive away. As you would expect there are many, bars, restaurants offering tremendous value as your Euro goes a lot further here than in the rest of Italy. Inland the interior of Calabria is dominated by the Sila and the Aspromonte National Parks where skiing is available in winter.
PLEASE NOTE: OUR VILLA HAS MOSQUITO NETS FITTED TO THE MAIN WINDOWS AND DOORS - ESSENTIAL FOR THIS REGION OF ITALY.
Notes on accommodation: Villa Case Rosse has recently been built. The villa is child-friendly and features a spacious living room, dining room, fully equipped kitchen, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms over two floors. The villa terraces, on both floors, are off the dining room, living room and two of the bedrooms and have stunning sea views.
Beach: The nearest beach is only three minutes away by car. There is a restaurant at the beach that serves food and drinks all day. There is always plenty of space on the beach even in the peak season. Italians tend to go for a siesta from Midday through to 4pm and the beach is usually deserted then! There are a number of bars and restaurants along the beach at Belvedere (10 minutes by car).
Golf: The local Golf Club has a nine hole course and is a 10 minute drive away, where restaurant, bar and swimming pool facilities are available.
We spent a week in this lovely villa in August having spent a couple of days in a very busy Sorrento previously.
The villa is absolutely beautiful, very comfortable and very well appointed - every thing you could possibly need. Much more like a home from home than a holiday rental.
The location of the villa is stunning - fabulous views of the mountains and the sea. The swimming pool had just been completed when we arrived - the pool could not be faulted.
As well as a glorious infinity pool for all to enjoy, there is also a small childrens roped off pool area for small ones to cool down in safety. The gardeners were busy finishing off the landscaping which I am sure will look wonderful when finished.
Although you could be forgiven for wanting to spend all your time by the pool, there are also lots of very nearby beaches that had beautiful clear water and were very safe for young children. There are lots of interesting places to visit nearby, lovely towns clinging to nearby hilltops and a highlight for us was a morning spent at a beautiful nearby monastry
There are lots of excellent local restaurants serving delicious pizza, pasta and ice cream etc and also large well stocked supermarkets selling fabulous local produce if you want to self cater.
In summary, this was a very relaxing holiday in a beautiful setting in a place where many Italians choose to take their holidays.
We had a wonderful stay in the villa in calabrie. The house is very pleasant and complete. The surrounding is wonderful with nice villages eand beautiful beaches. The wetter was wonderful. Yes we had a wonderful vacation
We had a great family holiday at Case Rosse, we drove from Naples which is just over a 3.5 hour drive away, lovely scenery on route and stayed for two weeks. The property was clean bright and spacious, everything you need for an easy and relaxing holiday. Nick and Lyn have thought of pretty much everything and our boys enjoyed the garden to play in. There are some nice touches like DVD's for when the day gets hot and everybody needs some down time and some toys and board games for little ones. The communal pool is only a two minute walk from the villa which we all enjoyed, it is well kept and was great to cool off, there are also a couple of unspoilt beaches only a short drive away. I have no hesitation in recommending this property especially if you are looking for a family holiday with high standard of accommodation.
We recently stayed at this villa for a fortnight across Aug/Sept 2014 with my wife and our 3 kiddies (ages 6-10). We loved it and highly recommend.
It was great from the start - queries about the place were answered very quickly and the owners were very flexible on start day, which was just what we were after - it also built confidence right from the beginning.
Instructions on how to get to the villa were spot on (a car is essential), and it is fully equipped (e.g. dishwasher, washing machine and all the plates, pots, pans and everything else in a very decent kitchen). We always take a few kitchen items with us, but we really didn't need them here.
The villa is very spacious and three bedrooms are lovely, the mattresses very comfy and clean, modern decor and bedding. The view of the sea and coastline from the upstairs balcony was a dream and we felt very relaxed after just 24-48 hrs. The large lawned area really is super green as in the pictures as it's auto-watered every evening!
The little touches are lovely - we took a portable speaker, but there is a Hi-Fi that works just fine. There's a large flat-screen TV with limited satellite channels, but we never needed to use that as there was always something to do locally. There's a DVD player and plenty of DVDs. There'a a huge box of games (which we did use!), a box upstairs packed full of kiddies books and downstairs there's a few bookcases full of novels, guide books and useful info. There's even an extension lead for all your UK 3-pin electrical items that plugs into an Italian socket! There's no WiFi, I roamed on Vodafone and easily got 3G in the villa to set up a hotspot for the kiddies devices.
The pool area is big, just a minute or so from the villa, has an attendant until 1pm each day and shared with a few other villas. We used it extensively. Unfortunately there was an issue with the pool in our second week, but I'm informed that was dealt with very swiftly.
Calabria in August is hot! We had to use the fans in each bedroom every night, and be prepared for mosquitoes! We find that the smoking spirals work quite well and these can be bought locally.
There are plenty of beaches nearby, but they do vary in quality, so it's worth doing a bit of research. We loved Diamante Sud which is nearby and Tropea - a good 2 hour drive is fantastic for both the town on a cliff and its magnificent beach. We went twice during our stay.
Lidl nearby in Cetraro.
We loved this place & are very likely to return!
Had a great time at the villa. Airy, lots of room for the two of us and 4 kids. Beaches all great and accessible, nice restaurant at La Torre, locals all friendly and helpful, big Spar shop had everything we needed in terms of supplies and open late. The villa itself was great, pool close, cleans Nd a lot of fun. Balconies on villa lovely for a bottle of wine in the evenings. Would recommend this villa to everyone. The drive from Naples airport was fine and scenic.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
The house has a great location with unspoiled view. We were only a short drive (with pin turns in the hill, we used to them after a couple of days) from beaches (but on lazy days we dived into the domain pool), towns, local restaurants and pizzerias (Pietrabianca is the very best!). However, once we were inside the house, the summer heat and baking sun disappeared. The villa was very cooling, quiet and comfortable. It was also exceptionally clean and exactly as it appeared in the photos on the web, even better. The villa itself had "south charm" with its yellow and blue painted tile on the floor and palm in the glass column as a centerpiece. The ceilings in the living were at least 3 meters high and we felt that we had stepped back in time with its airy and roomy spaces. However, the place also had modern kitchen and bathroom facilities. At the lunch time our own Italian cat always dropped by to say hello.
Overall, I can highly recommend this place to anyone who is considering a stay in Calabria. Thank you, Lynne & Nic!
Calabria, the southern most 'toe' of the Italian 'boot', is the Mediterranean best kept secret. But if you promise not to tell, we might just let you in on why holidays in Calabria are such a treat…
Meandering through Calabria is as good as stepping back in time. Only recently discovered by tourists, this region has retained its authentic feel and natural beauty. On the beaches find hideaway grottos and secluded coves - perfect for both families and couples alike.
