TWO BEDROOM. TWO BATH. Plus Powder Room and Sleeping Terrace w/bath.

Charming Garden Courtyard leads to the house which features a garden conservatory roof letting light into adjoining rooms: Living Room with Fireplace, dining room with circular table for six, fully equipped kitchen. Powder Room for guests on this floor. Second Bedroom features a small enclosed garden allowing daylight and garden enjoyment. Two twin beds that easily create a king. Upstairs is Master Bedroom + Dressing room with adjoining full bath. King size bed and TV. Off the Master an entrance to a lovely terrace.

Second terrace

features a daybed for one person, if not too cold. There is a Service bath (commode,sink,shower). Lovely roof top views with sun lounges.

Wifi and cable are included with TV in Master BR and DVD and Large TV in LR.CD player in Diningroom Kitchen area. W/D. Housekeepers 2xweek.Gardner /assistant 3 days/week

About Jim Roman

Living in New England we bought this property because it is Spring all year round. We find our greatest use for us is in the winter. However many of our renters enjoy San Miguel in the summer and fall. especially those trying to escape the hot and muggy weather in many parts of the states.As a Gardner you can imagine how 'Spring all year long' appeals to us.

Why Jim Roman chose San Miguel de Allende

San Miguel has a large expat community. English is spoken regularly. Many retirees have settled here enjoying the ambiance,and community spirit. The number of galleries and cultural sights as well as the numerous restaurants keeps you busy day and night but at a much more leisurely and civilized pace.

What makes this house unique

Our property is situated close to the town center but far enough away to enjoy it when we want. It is also close by the large Supermarket for all your household needs. But the most appealing aspect is the house itself behind these large metal gates. In San Miguel you never know what you'll find on the other side of the gate. Chickens in one and a kings palace behind the other. We love our flowered courtyard , our indoor garden, the terraces off the bedrooms. It's so easy to relax here.

Wonderful Property

We rented this casa for February, 2016. It was delightful with wonderful terraces and comfortable furniture. It is right next to a small tienda for things like milk, water etc and a block away from a great fruit and vegetable store. Javier & Conception, the couple that manage and clean the property were lovely. Javier speaks English and can help with questions. The owner, was responsive via email for any questions. There is plenty of sunshine and light. We have no hesitancy recommending this to travelers.

There are several small restaurants within 5 min walk and plenty more 10 min away on the Ancha de San Antonio ( a major commercial street). One point is that the tub/shower for the master bedroom might be difficult to access for someone with mobility issues but there is another shower in the lower bedroom which is very accessible.

Great property in a nice neighborhood

Had a wonderful month long stay In this property. Beautiful front garden. Would have preferred caretakers only come by the house 2X a week. It was unfortunate they showed up early and almost everyday. Javier simply couldn't understand our requests.

Would return if we had a better understanding with the caretaker to limit his visits to the house.

Amazing!!

My wife and I arrived to a rainstorm flooding the streets of SMA and I was sick and that set a miserable tone for the first three days or so. The only bright spot, and a shining bright spot it was, was upon entering the rental home, it changed our mood and it was simply magnificent. The housekeeper, Javiar, could not stop trying to make us feel at home, and took us shopping, advised on what foods to buy and then gave us a ride to a great restaurant while he returned home to put away the groceries. I had injured my leg and Javiar on his own, made hot compresses for me to apply and made sure I did it on a regular basis. The weather turned nice and we walked the neighborhood and discovered a small restaurant two blocks away that had unbelievability delicious food. The tacos, apple pie, flan, lemonade, and chicken were the best I ever had, and we returned there for several more meals, and we would have never discovered it had we been staying in town. Oh yes, the distance from town. A short 20 min walk through lovely streets or a 5 min taxi drive, and you get to stay in the peace and quiet of a great neighborhood yet easily enjoy downtown SMA.

We had a glitch with the internet which I depend on for work and assumed I would have to travel to an internet cafe but when we mentioned it to the owner, he had it fixed within 2-3 hours. Any issues we had, and they were very minor, were immediately solved by the owner, thought he was thousands of mile away in the USA. He as very responsive and could not have done more to make us feel welcome and at home. He seemed to really want us to have a very comfortable and enjoyable stay and remained in close communication should we have needed anything. The home had a three story indoor garden and waterfall second to none, more patios and balconies than you would ever need, clean beautiful bathrooms, gorgeous decor, great views from the second and third levels, and my only regret was that I couldn't live there year around.

Would we go back to this home rather than a high end luxury hotel? Absolutely!!! And if you compare the price to a nice hotel, it is a great deal and less expensive and you get far more for your money. You will not go wrong with the rental. Oh, and one more thing...make sure it is still owned by the same person, Jim, and Javiar will be there!!! They made the stay what it was.

Beautiful home with some big flaws.

The house is absolutely lovely with stunning and well maintained gardens. It is in the San Antonio region of San Miguel, which is lovely if you don't mind walking a bit to the center of town. Although the house claimed to have wi-fi, it did not. We worked with it endlessly and there was no service. Halfway through the trip, the cable went out-- we were finally able to determine that the bill had not been paid. Housecleaning was supposed to be twice a week, but happened only once. While the ad claimed to have a "communal pool," in reality that referenced a 20 minute walk to a hotel with pool anyone can use for a nominal fee.

The landscaper and his wife are wonderful people, but it is clear that they need more support managing the property.

I would recommend this property only with the understanding about what you actually can expect. If you can get it for the $700/week it is advertised for, it's not bad. The landscaping and architecture can't be beat (though the plumbing leaves much to be desired). We were charged $1300 given the season, and felt that we had been misled. Do note that this is NOT our first time renting in SMA, so we have fairly good points of comparison.

Owner's Response: MY E-mail back to Jenny, I apologize for any inconvenience you experienced. I wish you had E-mailed me or called. I do not know why you had trouble with the TV or internet. The bill was paid and after receiving your complaint I straightened there error out. As for your other points . The rate of $700.00 is our summer rate our high season rate is $150.00 with a 1 week minimum or $1200.00 for your stay with a $49.00 charge for insurance for 8 nights.This is listed on Homeaways website. Additionally our housekeeper is there 2 days/ week as listed on the site without specifically mentioning which days. As for the pool : Yes it is listed as communal and is listed as 3 blocks from the house. Perhaps with kids in tow it might take 20 minutes . As I said I do apologize for your problem with the TV=internet . I will refund you $100.00 for the inconvenience. Please forward your mailing address and I will send you a check. Sincerely, Jim Roman

Great house, in a terrific town.

This was our first trip to San Miguel. Casa Mesquite is even better than described. The house is beautifully decorated. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the amenities of home including a dishwasher. A wonderful convenience is that the owners have installed a water purification system so that we could drink from the tap. Unlike some other places we've stayed in Mexico, the plumbing works!

Both bedrooms are of similar size with good mattresses and private bathrooms. The multiple terraces are a special treat in such a nice climate.

The house is well supported by a lovely couple. The gardener speaks English and we were able to hire him to give us an introductory walking tour of San Miguel. The owner checked in with us a couple of times to see if he could be helpful.

All in all, we'd definitely recommend this house. We had a terrific time.

Walking around town seeing the many churches and visiting an unbelievable variety of shops you can rest for breakfast, brunch, lunch, cocktails or dinner at the numerous restaurants in town. If walking is taking it's toll taxis are plentiful and only $2.
