The location of this house is perfect- 2 minutes to stores and dining, 5 minutes walk time to Hanalei Bay. Nice house and furnishings in a quiet neighborhood. Lots of beach stuff in the garage, with a lanai on both front and back of the house. Joan was a dream to work with and very attentive to questions and requests. The Blue Dolphin is a terrific restaurant and we enjoyed a boat tour of the Napali coast, the Kilauea Lighthouse, the Hindu Monastery and Kingdom in Kapaa, hiking to the Hanalei lookout, golfing in Princeville, and visiting a variety of beaches on the North shore. The setting is perfect, great house, my only complaint is the mosquitos! We would definitely recommend this home to friends!
Our family of four enjoyed a week-long stay at this fine home in late May/early June. Three days and part of a fourth were heavily impacted by rain, which was a real bummer, but that is certainly not the fault of this beautiful property, which met nearly all of our expectations. The photos and description are accurate, and owner Joan was super easy to communicate with.
This house is roomy, modern, and nicely appointed. Everything worked well. We all found the beds to be great, and we were never too hot (on the contrary, all the rain and clouds kept things a little cooler than we'd have liked). Best of all is the house's location, which simply could not have been any better. We grabbed umbrellas (the house includes a few) and walked everywhere -- stores, restaurants, and of course the beach. There are some nice supplies in the garage, including beach chairs and toys.
My kids, ages 11 and 8, loved feeding the neighborhood cats, who caught on quickly that our front door was the one to gather around that week.
One small negative: lots of do's and don'ts from the housekeeping staff that weren't always clear (recycling, laundry). Joan did address my laundry question promptly and said she would clarify the instructions for future guests.
The only other problem was the unfortunate stale odor (perhaps cat related) that greeted us every time we came back into the house. We opened all the windows all the time that we were in the home, which -- for some of us -- helped make the odor go away. Every time we left and came back, though, the smell was there. (Bear in mind, we love cats and have one ourselves.) I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this.
All in all, though, we had a very good time at this property and we do recommend it to others. We were in the heart of Hanalei, which made the experience priceless!
As a former resident of Hawaii, it was so much fun to go back and be a tourist; and this house was the perfect spot to do this. The privacy the house offers and the location were high marks in my book. The highlights for my family were the outdoor shower, the cats and a cute & cozy place to call home for a week. No complaints at all! We would love to stay there again!! Thank you Joan for sharing your home.
Our family has vacationed in this beautiful home for a second time out of the six years we have been reuniting in Kauai. All six of us enjoyed having the option to walk to town or the short walk to a spectacular beach. The house is spacious, clean, comfortable and well stocked for a wonderful island experience. Joan was always responsive to any questions or requests. We are already looking forward to our next visit!
This vacation home was absolutely perfect for our family in terms of location, size, comfort, and amenities. Hanalei is a beautiful, casual, fun spot. This home is within 5 minutes walking distance of everything we needed: beach, grocery, restaurants, coffee shops, bakery, ice cream. That made it nice for our teens when they wanted to do things on their own. It's quiet (except for the early morning chickens) and very private with a lovely, lush backyard that makes it feel like you're in the middle of a tropical rain forest. We enjoyed surfing every morning at Hanalei Bay and all the great places to eat nearby. We also appreciated Joan's tips on activities. Even with a few rainy days it all worked out.
We like new adventures so it’s not often we say we'd go back somewhere. But we would happily go back to Kauai and enjoy this wonderful house again.
My wife and I enjoyed staying in this property for a few weeks in February-March, 2016. The website photographs faithfully depict the property, which is spacious, very comfortable and fully stocked with all necessary kitchen and other supplies. The property's location couldn't be better -- just a few steps walk to shopping and restaurants in town, and a short walk to a spectacular beach. The owner is very professional and responsive. I highly recommend this lovely property, with confidence that you will enjoy it as much as my wife and I did.
At the center of a new cul-de-sac: 5 minute walk to beautiful Hanalei beach; 2 minute walk to Hanalei shops and restaurants.
