A wonderful place
Seeing is believing:)
Really nice property and Stefan was very helpful even though we arrived just before Iceland were playing France in the Euros! The property was exactly as described and very homely. The view from the house was stunning and even better from the sauna! Also not too far from the Golden Circle, we went the exciting direct route on gravel road! Holiday was in celebration of sons 21st & 18th birthdays and Iceland exceeded our hoped for stunning scenery & hot spring bathing experiences! Expensive but well worth it.
This is a perfect and peaceful place. The owners were very welcoming and friendly; they will treat you like old friends. The property itself was immaculate and was furnished in a very comforting way. Everything was supplied and ready on arrival. The view is breathtaking; an amazing view over the fjord and eating breakfast or drinking some beers under the midnight sun on the decking was a unforgettable treat. It is a short and easy drive to Reykjavik making it an excellent base for exploring the entire region. Taking a little walk on the beach after coming back from our activities in the region was very refreshing. I would highly recommend this property to all of my friends. Absolutely we all feel like coming back.
Stefan was very accommodating for our early arrival into Iceland. The cottage was clean, quaint, and very quiet. The house was very well maintained and had many amenities that made our stay very comfortable. We are sorry that we did not have a chance to use the wood burning sauna! The children loved the trampoline and walks along the beach. The only recommendation would be to have black out curtains as the midnight sun was a challenge with the jet lag! We enjoyed reading the history about the cabin, and love that there have obviously been good times here! Location, although remote feeling, was not too far away from towns with grocery stores. We would recommend this cottage to any travellers and would stay there again.
Stefan made us feel right at home. Cottage really has a good honey feel about it. View, is worth $1 million. Thanks!!
Very friendly owners of a little paradise close to Reykjavik.
The summer house is a perfect place to set up base to explore the main sites of this area in Iceland. Its very comfortable and very warm with excellent views. I will never forget waking up at 02:30 looking through the huge windows and seeing a fantastic aurora display. The whole family 2 adults and 2 teenagers really enjoyed it the house and the newly fitted WIFI kept them entertained in the small hours. We only used the sauna once and it was an amazing experience. The nearest town (about 20 mins drive) has all the amenities you need ie shops but the piece de resistance is the outdoor swimming pool complex there, we went nearly every day, the kids (aged 13 and 16) thought it was heaven and so did my wife and I.
I would like to visit again sometime and just enjoy the summer house more because its in a beautiful setting with amazing views. We saw a sea eagle just up the road chasing a seagull.
Dont expect to see much english speaking TV channels, I think we only found one, but a hoilday here is more about getting outdoors and seeing the many amazing natural history. Stefan was onhand if we needed anything and made our stay very welcoming, oh and I nearly forgot to mention the wood burner, really set the scene during those cosy evenings in.
We love love to return sometime and would like to thanks Stefan and his family for allowing us to share their summer house.
