Why Carlotta Martoglio chose Pinerolo
The property I rent is on the top floor of the eighteenth century villa where my parents live. the villa was bought by my grandfather in 1950 and, at that time, 5 families were living there. during Worls War II the villa was the Germans hedquarter of the area: Pinerolo sorroundings and mountains were full of Partisans. The top floor of the villa, is divided in 2 indipendent flats, that we rent for vacations. it was completely renovated in 2010, and flats are fully equipped. My parents live on the ground and first floor of the villa
What makes this Villa unique
Pinerolo is a green town only 2 hours away from MILAN, EXPO 2015 city location. the villa is 1 hour far from Turin airport and 1.30 hour far from Malpensa Airport. The flat benefits of spacious bedrooms and unique views on the Alps and the plain towards Turin. My father Luigi personally takes care of the fantastic garden where our guests can spend time reading or drinking a glass of wine and children can play.

We could not have been happier with our week-long stay at this beautiful home. We occupied both of the apartments to accommodate three generations of family while visiting the area to explore my mother-in-law's Waldensian heritage. The apartments are sparkling clean and include a delightful mix of old-world charm and modern conveniences. The kitchen and living room in the main apartment are larger than they appear in the listing. The studio apartment allows direct access to a patio (with comfortable furniture) which is surrounded by fragrant lavender and offers views of the mountains above and the town below. Stone steps lead from the patio to the pool area where there are lounge chairs and more stunning views. We loved the location just above the old section of Pinerolo and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Ascending the hill to return to the villa was great exercise for burning off our daily cups of gelato. Thank you Luigi, Pia and Carlotta for a wonderful vacation!
Beautiful accommodation in a lovely part of Italy. Very welcome and helpful hosts. Thank you!
We’d highly recommend this beautiful Villa. Carlotta was very timely in all of her responses, which we appreciate. Luigi, her father, lives in the villa; he was very welcoming, kind and helpful. This makes a big difference in the rental experience, especially when one is traveling in a foreign country.
The home was lovely and had a warm and inviting atmosphere. The kitchen and bathrooms were modern and the other rooms were comfortable but still had wonderful architectural elements of the past. The home was spacious and we had what we needed. Plus, the gardens were absolutely breathtaking! The visual mix of flowers, mountains, and a church steeple peaking through the trees could not be beat.
The home is near the old historic part of Pinerolo, which is charming. We rented a car but mostly walked to town. The shops and restaurants are a half mile walk from the house. It’s a steep hill that goes down to the town but it was okay; we were able to enjoy a lot of good food and didn’t gain weight! Everyone in the town was nice. Pinerolo is situated in a place for a lot of day trips, such as Milan and Turin. We did a full day wine tour in Asti and enjoyed it.
All this said, we loved our stay.
This is perfect - I would rate the villa 6 stars if I could!
Firstly, we must express our thanks to Luigi, Pia, Carlotta and the family for such wonderful hospitality. This is a delightful, immaculate home with period features, space to unwind and attention to detail. Luigi's garden was gorgeous and we enjoyed juicy homegrown tomatoes. The pool was a lovely feature with crystal clear water. Our children loved it. The hill top position affords amazing views over the city; the plains and the mountains. We couldn't have wished for better. Pinerolo was charming. It's good exercise to walk up and down hill into the town but it's worth it through the historic streets. We enjoyed pizza, gelato and the general relaxation that comes from kicking back and people watching into the late evening. We found the villa an ideal location for exploring Turin and the mountains. If you like jagged peaks and proper alpine scenery with cow bells, clear air and quiet then spend some time here. You'll love it.
Wonderful location and property - the perfect Italian escape
From the moment we arrived at the apartment we knew we had found something special. The apartment was large, beautiful and had everything you need for a long stay. Position wise it was excellent - whether travelling to the alps or other cities - and being able to enjoy a walk into the city was also good. The pool was so nice - with the views and good loungers. The gardens were immaculate - I believe there were chairs available to sit and enjoy the lovely ambience - though we never made use of them them. The apartment has glorious views out of every window - I loved sitting with a book and glass of wine just taking it all in. So as you can tell I thoroughly recommend this apartment and location to anyone who wants to experience the true Italy. One word of caution - the gates into the property are quite narrow - if you have a large SUV etc. you might struggle.
Wonderful place to be!
A big thanks to Luigi and his wife, to his daughter Carlotta and to the grandchildren for a lovely holiday in Pinerolo. The owners are very warm, helpful and hospitable, which made us feel at home.
The villa has a fantastic old charm and the garden is beautifully kept. We especially enjoyed the pool.
The apartment is perfectly equipped, tastefully decorated and very comfortable, just as in the pictures. There is a fantastic view from the apartment on Pinerolo, the plains and the Alps. Pinerolo turned out to be a good base to explore some very nice cities (Turin, Alba & Asti) and to hike in the Alps.
The town of Pinerolo has a medieval historic centre that ends up on San Maurizio hill.
The flat is on the second floor of a villa, built at the end of 1700, surrounded by a beautifull garden.
The owner personally takes care of the secular trees, italian cut hedges, and precious rare hydrangea collection.
The villa is on Pinerolo's hill, but only 200meters away from the city centre, with shops, restaurants and historic attractions.
The glorious Horse Riding School was active here at the beguinning of ‘900 and at present, Pinerolo hosts a lot of cultural and historic events such as the International Horse riding competition or the Iron Mask cerimony.
Villa le Ortensie di Carlotta is a perfect starting point in order to reach artistic destinations like Turin, the eighteenth century Hunting Palace in Stupinigi, the Contemporary Art Museum of Rivoli or the Savoy residence La Venarla Reale, but also the olympic mountains in Sestriere with their fantastic skiing slopes.
At the same time Monferrato hills famous for wines and truffles are only 50km away.
