About the property

2 bedrooms, 1 bath, sleeps 6 w/pull out sofa. ** Primary Renter Minimum Age: 25

We would love to have you visit our secluded riverfront home in the heart of Mount Washington Valley. “Lost on the River” is a slice of heaven on the east branch of the Saco River. Situated on the end of a private road less than 10 minutes to North Conway, this is a wonderful “out of the way location, close to everything” in the middle of all the White Mountains have to offer – hiking, golf, Storyland, outlet shopping, skiing, snowmobiling, fly fishing or taking a refreshing dip in the river in front our house. This area is also home to some of the best motorcycle riding in all of New England.

Our cabin is perfect for couples and small families who enjoy the tranquility of a remote riverfront location yet appreciate the amenities of a fully functional house. It is clean and comfortable with many ‘little extras” – fireplace, full kitchen, washer/dryer, HDTV, DVD, wireless broadband, free telephone, stereo, gas grill, as well as a riverfront fire pit.

Your dog is welcome with prior approval and an additional $15/night pet fee.

Summer and Fall: Start off your day with breakfast on the front porch overlooking the riverfront, pack a lunch and hike around nearby Mountain pond, come back and relax by the fire pit on the river, and then fall to sleep with the sound of the river outside your bedroom window…..

About Brenda Stein and Damon Burchill

We live on Cape Cod and met about 10 years ago. We were married at this property in 2010. In 2011 we became custodial grandparents to 2 beautiful girls (7 & 12), and now do not have the opportunity to visit as often as we used to..... So we have decided to share our property with others who will appreciate the very special location.

Brenda Stein and Damon Burchill purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Brenda Stein and Damon Burchill chose Bartlett

We knew we wanted to buy in the North Conway area, and had been looking at a lot of 'cookie cutter' houses.... Our 1st priority was location - even if we had to build. When the realtor drove us up to this house, we both knew the second we stepped out of the car we had found what we were looking for!! And the fact that we had a fully functioning house was a dream come true!!! We are sure that you will feel the same!!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Brenda,

I just wanted to thank you again for allowing us to rent your home for the past week. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there … spending the days hiking, and evenings by the stove. It was a wonderful week, and your cabin was just perfect … just what we were looking for. The location is perfect …hopefully we can visit again during the summer when we could take advantage of the river and front porch! Thanks again, as your cabin has so much personality and character and warmth … that it isn’t a rental, but it’s a home!

Beautiful & Relaxing cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We loved being there, most of the time we were secluded, a few people walked up & down the dirt road, the only thing we didn't like was that they walked around our cabin & through our cars in the backyard but that only happened once. We had a couple nice bonfires & the sound of the river was so peaceful. Although we had a bad storm the last night & the river overflowed & flooded the road, the neighbors/owner of the cabin tried to get a hold of us early in the morning before it got too bad but we did not have any service, nor did we hear the house phone ring. We got evacuated by the township but everyone was so kind & amazing!! We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay at during that storm, the owner Brenda was super sweet & accommodating, she even offered for us to stay another night if we needed to. We ended up getting out safely thanks to the help of the fire department. We will definitely stay here again if given the chance. We love adventures & that was the experience of a lifetime! That storm made our trip even more memorable, I would recommend this place to everyone, it was the perfect spot on the river & with some trails for light hiking adventures. I can't say enough great things about this place!

Great way to get away from the city life

  • 5 of 5

Loved this area. Being dog friendly, this property hit all the things I was looking for. Far enough out in the woods next to a river while still having internet if needed was a good convienence. Many great attractions near by and the fireplaces made a great added touch. Will consider returning in the future. Highly recommended.

Last House on the Right

  • 5 of 5

Besides being a private place hidden away from the busy life in the city, the sound of a river running over bolders the size of a car and probably weighing a ton or more are just a few feet away outside the back.

The air is nothing but fresh and a constant breeze comes through the opened windows while you sleep deeply - it's a quiet peaceful place.

Plenty of firewood lying around ready to burn, especially for those romantic moments - there's a stove like fireplace inside and a fire-pit next to the running river's edge.

Everything is close by - Mount Washington and the Presidential Range to the Notth along hwy 16 or 302, whichever direction you take, it's beautiful.

Restaurants and shopping everywhere, but I'd recommend the train ride from out of North Conway going south and dinner - it's pricy, but it's fun.

There's nothing to hate here, and if you don't find love like we did, then maybe you should try other forms of therapy...

Hope this helps.

Fantastic place to spend a week together!

  • 5 of 5

Our little family of 3 had a wonderful time at the cabin! Private, quiet location at the end of a dirt road, very clean and well-stocked (linens, kitchen cooking basics and plenty of spices/condiments on hand). Comfortable beds, great wifi. Complimentary phone line was appreciated as cell service was spotty. Plenty of firewood, and we used the little cart to gather kindling, which our daughter loved to help with.

The river is a constant companion and the fire pit is a welcome end to any day (busy or lazy). A nice trail goes out of the property along the water for about a half mile. Water shoes were a great idea for exploring the rocky river.

We loved being 10-15 minutes from North Conway, Storyland, Cathedral Ledge, Echo Lake, Diana's Baths, Lucy Brook Farm (fresh produce, eggs; visit the chickens, alpacas, horses and goats!)

If you have a little one please note there is a shower only (no tub), and the front porch will require supervision as it is a drop and there are no stairs or full railings installed.

Overall, this rental was really the perfect combination for us, we'd definitely love to come back soon!

Seclusion...Seclusion.....Seclusion

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful rustic cabin hidden at the end of a dirt road offering great privacy. We had a great time as the location is close to almost everything. House was clean with all the amenities you would need. Stream across road is awesome. I suggest you bring a lantern to help see around the fire pit at night. Glad I brought mine. Would definitely go back again. Thanks Jimmy H

Cabin is clean and as expected. River directly across the rd.

  • 5 of 5

This was our first homeaway rental and it did not disappoint. This was a perfect location for a family with children (1yr and 3yr). Mom and dad were able to enjoy the river while the children slept in the cabin with the baby monitor provided.

Close proximity to attractions but nestled in the woods so you don't miss out on all the white mountains has to offer.

Everything was provided for including wood for the fire. We will definitely be back!

Thanks again Brenda.
