About the property

1 bedroom, 1 bath, sleeps 4

The condo is a LeVilla. The back deck faces the golf course and just a short walk away is all the action at the Schuss slopes. Enjoy all the seasons with fun at Shanty Creek . The resorts 4500 acres offers outdoor activities - golf, ski, biking and hiking, indoor/outdoor pools and hot tubs, restaurants and entertainment.

Shanty Creek in winter: With 53 runs on its two mountains and 4 terrain parks, a 300' half pipe, more than 175' of snow annually, and a 450' vertical drop, Shanty Creek is where terrain meets tradition. Tubing is a speedy downhill thrill for your whole crew on Schuss Mountain's north face. Located in Cedar River Village, SCR's five-lane tubing park is fun for kids, families, groups and non-athletes. Shanty Creek leads the way for free riders and twin tip skiing alike. Boasting a variety of ever-changing rails, boxes and tabletops, the slopes are groomed daily. Shanty Creek prides itself on its pristine Nordic ski trails that wind through snow-blanketed northern Michigan hardwoods and pines. All 30km of dedicated trails are groomed daily and designed for cross-country enthusiasts in mind with stretching and bending terrain. Snowmobile trails lead from the area to regional groomed trails.

Shanty Creek in spring/summer/fall: With its 72 holes of golf on four championship golf courses, Shanty is a great golfing destination. Each course offers challenging play with Up North natural beauty. The courses offer tight fairways, formidable doglegs, breathtaking hazards, and varying elevations, Shanty Creek’s golf courses put golfers in an enviable position—trying to read and play those challenging greens amid the stunning views. Golf Tom Weiskopf designed Cedar River Course, Arnold Palmer Legend, the Schuss Mountain course - a favorite among locals who annually name it one of the top public courses in Michigan and Shanty Creeks original course - the Summit.

Always: The town of Bellaire is only minutes away for additional restaurants, grocery store, banks, micro brewery, theatre, movie rental and shopping. In addition, you are only a short drive to some of the most beautiful lakes and rivers in northern Michigan. Riverside marina rents boats and makes for a wonderful way to experience the Chain of Lakes. If you find time to go exploring, you are only 30-40 minutes from Charlevoix, Petoskey and Traverse City. Shop, go to the casinos, fish, boat on beautiful Torch Lake, sail in the Bay, go to Sleeping Bear Dunes, Bellaire has wonderful restaurants, quaint shopping and you'll find a grocery store and some specialty food shops to stock up your condo and cook a great meal.

Location is great but was less than our expectations

  • 3 of 5

This condo is in a very convenient location to the hill and booking service was very easy too. However we were some what disappointed. When we arrived it smelled as if it had been closed up for awhile. It just didn't smell fresh and clean. There wasn't any silverware that we found. Some other utensils in the kitchen area were sticky. The counter wasn't as clean as it could have been either. We also had difficulty with the remote working for the living area television. Did not use the television in the bedroom so can't say if that worked well or not. On a more positive note we there was dish soap to wash the dishes and wipe down counter tops. And the heat works great. The location to the hill was very convenient. We stayed for the weekend of the Schuss Mountain Snow Challenge and the walk to the hill was great!! Also the manager was great with helping to make our check in and out convenient and easy for us.

Owner's Response: We are sorry your stay was not excellent. We've never had comments before about freshness or the condition of the condo or the TV remote but will speak to the owner and cleaning crew. There is silverware and a full complement of kitchen items, not sure how they were not located.

no more than 2 people fit

  • 3 of 5

The condo is well located, but too far to walk to the ski lifts in your ski boots - a 2 minute drive gets you right to the lifts. The floor plan of this condo is awkward. The door to the bedroom blocks the bathroom door when it is open. Fine for two people, but I wouldn't recommend this for a family with children. If you open the sofa bed it completely blocks the front entry door. The eating area table has two bar stools, so you can't really "eat" at it as you are sitting too high from the table. It is not suitable to read at or do any work at. The alternative is to use the coffee table - which is too low. If this place had "kitchen table" height chairs it would have been much more comfortable. Lots of dishes - mattress is comfortable, enough hot water for 2, heat worked well (bathroom tile floor is icy cold, but a thick rug covers most of the floor). I would not rent this unit again due to the awkward table situation, but the LaVilla units are a good alternative to the Schuss hotel. Be sure you plan to have your own wi-fi as there is none at the condo. Our cell phones had service at this location (Verizon) which is not the case everywhere at the resort. The manager of this unit has other units and was very pleasant, easy to work with, and all around helpful. Next time I will ask about the eating area table situation, but I will use these condo's again. Good lower price choice for two people.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the feedback. Yes, this is a small condo and really suited for 2 adults, but we find that families with small children find this a wonderful alternative to a hotel room as we provide a kitchenette and a nice private and quite location!

This one bedroom condo sits on the Schuss course, just a quick walk out the door to the Schuss slopes. Would be a wonderful place for a small family or a couple to spend some time. Walk to Ivans restaurant and be in the middle of everything happening during ski season! The cozy condo has a front room with a small but functional kitchen, a TV and a sofa sleeper. The private bedroom has a queen bed, TV and the doorwall opens onto a deck where you can sit with your coffee or a cold beverage and watch the golfers or cross-country skiers go by.
