About Chris Beresford
I was born in 1961, and I grew up in Solihull in the West Midlands, UK,. I moved down to London in 1993 and I have lived in Highbury, Islington ever since. I work as a volunteer Independent Visitor to children in the care of the Local Authority, and I also do mentoring work with young people. I am also self-employed and run a property portfolio in London, and do some property development too. I started skiing late in life when I was 34 and was instantly hooked.
Chris Beresford purchased this Apartment in 2008
Why Chris Beresford chose Isérables
I chose this Duplex Penthouse apartment as it occupies the entire top floor (penthouse level 5) and half of the floor below of a substantially built East / West facing building right in the centre of the village, with panoramic views over the Sports centre one way and down the valley towards Sion when looking the other. Apart from the vast open plan lounge and kitchen which is great for a communal meal, or for just sitting in front of the fire in the winer after a hard days skiing, there are also 3 very large balconies that serve the lounge and all four bedrooms, which are so relaxing to be on, particularly in the summer. I really value space in a holiday home, and the 4 double bedrooms and 2 main bathrooms (+1 ensuite) , enable guests to spread out and have their own space when they need it. There is a large supermarket on the ground floor of the building, accessed by a lift, meaning that shopping couldn't be easier. I also like to have bars and restaurants on hand without having to walk anywhere or use the car.
What makes this Apartment unique
A log fire at night is a luxury and this apartment has a fantastic fireplace in the louge which is a focal point when enjoying your apres-ski drink. There is a private outdoor car park that up to two cars can use ; three balconies with the main one being west facing which captures the sun all afternoon right up to sun-set. The central village location is ideal, and a passenger lift just across the car park takes you to the top of the village where the main telecabine is to be found (the Tracouet) linking you to the Four Valleys ski domain. There is a heated ski / boot room in the basement for added convenience. The apartment is only a half hour bus ride from Sion train station with links to Sion airport just up the road. There are direct winter flights from the UK to Sion in the ski season which cuts out the need to travel from Geneva.

Spacious, well equipped and centrally located penthouse
Getting there: The apartment, and key collection are both easy to find. Really easy experience collecting the key, with helpful host.
Location: This really is one of the best locations in Nendaz. This is the first time we'd been to the village to ski, and looking at maps etc before we went, it's hard to judge where you want to be. You won't be disappointed. Above a supermarket, opposite bars, restaurants, and 50metres from the lift which takes you to the bottom for the main gondola up to Nendaz. Overlooking the icerink, there's always something going on, but no issues with noise, Nendaz is a quiet resort, especially out of school holidays, so we weren't bothered by street noise at all.
Equipment: We cooked most nights, and the appliances and equipment are plenty to be able to cater for yourself. Large Fridge etc made storage very easy. The added benefit of washing machine and dryer made holidaying with two young children, and lots of smelly ski wear very easy.
Comfort: The pictures don't do this place justice. The living area is spacious, and all beds and rooms are comfortable, with plenty of storage. If you are thinking about this place for small children, I'd recommend taking a stair gate, just for piece of mind when upstairs.
Delightful apartment and well located
We went for a walking holiday and had a super time using the apartment as a base.
A great property for a large family or group of friends, sleeps 8 with 2 bathrooms and laundry facilities. Very central , close to shops, restaurants and ski bus stop!
We have stayed a few times and will return!
Spacious, well furnished with central location.
We had a lovely summer stay in Haute-Nendaz, enjoying plenty of walking with spectacular scenery (and some alpen horn music). The penthouse is very close to a passenger funicular which takes you to the foot of the Tracouet cable car, so I imagine it would be quite easy to access the ski area in winter. The Wednesday market was a nice surprise and our teens loved the village's outdoor swimming pool.
The penthouse was ideal for us - very clean, spacious and well furnished and we appreciated having use of all the appliances. We're used to renting apartments in France, so it was a lovely surprise to find essentials like washing-up liquid and toilet paper already there for us, and also having mugs and a kettle as we've stayed in places where there are only tiny coffee cups and a coffee machine.
Yannick was very pleasant and carefully explained details about the lift and how to return the keys as we left early on the Friday morning.
We would definitely recommend the penthouse to friends - it really is as good as it looks on the website. We had a great holiday with easy communications and no stress!
Thank you so much for your feedback, and I'm delighted that you had such an enjoyable summer holiday in the Penthouse, Nendaz.
I agree that it is as good a place to go to in the Summer as it is in the winter months for skiing -
In the summer there are lots of outdoor activities on hand including tennis, walking, swimming, mountain biking, a football pitch, hang-gliding and sight-seeing, and with a South of France climate, lots of opportunities for sunbathing and relaxing too, with lovely village restaurants right on your doorstep.
The Tracouet lift in Nendaz can be reached by walking two minutes across the car park of the apartment, and catching the passenger lift that drops you directly in front of it, so it's really couldn't be more convenient for Summer and Winter skiers alike.
Outstanding Accomodation For The Perfect Ski Trip
The Penthouse was spotless and exceeded our expectations. Chris is very helpful and quick to respond. Booking through to key collection was hassle free. We had a great week skiing and thoroughly enjoyed cooking and relaxing in the apartment in an evening and watching the Ice Hockey from the balcony!
I am sure we will book again as the location is perfect, easily accessible by car and Nendaz offers a great range of restaurants when you're too tired to cook!
We would not hesitate to recommend The Penthouse to friends.
A brilliant skiing holiday in a great location
A luxurious well maintained apartment with easy access to the ski slopes, restaurants, bars and supermarkets. A great network of slopes and lifts, with minimum queuing. Some of the restaurants are a little expensive, but once the log fire is blazing it seems a shame to go out, so we chose to cook our own food for a few nights. We only used the hire car twice. One trip from the airport and one back, so it would have been quite possible to have managed without a car. All in all we had a great time and would certainly return to the Penthouse for another holiday!
Thank you for your feedback - I agree that some restaurants can be on the expensive side, but for great value I recommend:
Le Grenier - opposite the telecabine in Nendaz - it's good for both apres-ski drinks and also for eating out in the evening - it has an informal dining for a limited value menu, and also a quieter more formal dining room for a la carte dining.
Other eating out options can be found on my website at www.nendazskiresort.com where customers have left their reviews for the past 7 years.
I would always recommend taking a car as it is much more convenient than using public transport, especially for the airport transfer. The journey can be done in about one and a half hours.
Looking forward to seeing you again on your next trip to the Penthouse.
