Why Owner chose Broadway
We feel lucky we were able to purchase this property on Capitol Hill. It is a highly prized area with much to offer to a wide variety of visitors and to those living on "the hill." Our house was built in 1920. We were told it's division into three apartments, top floor, main floor and basement was done in the late 70's or early 80's. These apartments are occupied by long-term renters who love their neighborhood and all it offers. The Cottage, a studio apartment, separate from the house, was in a sad state. We spent spent our weekends and evenings from May 2016 to November 2016 making it into what we feel is a comfortable, cozy place to stay while enjoying Capitol Hill and Seattle and all it has to offer.
What makes this Cottage unique
The wooden structure is unique to the block on which it resides. Most buildings on our block are small, purpose built apartments built in the very early 1900's. There is an ongoing change to the area with old structures being replaced with modern condos. Many old buildings remain due to their historic status giving the area its appealing architecture.

The perfect place for us!
We had an excellent time staying here. Perfect location to get to everything and a cute neighborhood. The property is super clean, a nice size for two people, everything you need for a visit, and a ton of information to explore the city. Thank you!!
Creative use of space, great neighborhood
We didn't communicate with the hosts outside of brief emails but their check-in instructions were very clear. Property is at ground level in back of larger home with good privacy and security. The space is small but beautifully decorated and they've thought of everything. Kitchen is set up for cooking and bed is super comfortable. We loved the design and details of the bathroom. Place is in a good and popular neighborhood so parking is hard to find. Once we got a space we left the car parked our entire stay and used transit, which is just a few blocks away. Bars, restaurants, a good grocery store and a shop of prepared meals are all close by. Would definitely stay here again.
An amazing location, accommodating hosts, and wonderful Seattle experience!
This cottage is wonderful- the location is extremely close to excellent restaurants, and about 30 minute walk to downtown. We LOVED Seattle, in great part because of this cottage. Joanna and David are extremely accommodating, and even allowed us to keep our suitcases on the property until our flight.
Location, location, location!
Perfectly situated at the North end of the Broadway strip - close to the light rail and Metro Buses - and walking distance to all the greatness that is Capitol Hill. Cottage was sparkling clean and the owners have fantastic instructions as well as tons of good local resources waiting in a notebook for you when you arrive.
Will definitely stay here again on my next retreat to Seattle!
Great place to stay in the Capitol Hill Area
We recently returned from our vacation in Seattle and really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It was clean, comfortable, conveniently located and the perfect home base for our day trips. We look forward to coming back to Seattle soon and would love to stay at the cottage again. Highly recommended!

Quiet and nice neighborhood
We only stayed briefly, checked in at 8 pm and out by 8am. The place is tiny, but nicely done and it was quiet and private and we had a nice stay. We couldn’t find street parking at that hour, and the lot behind the gas station nearby had only one spot left for paid parking that we squeezed into and we had to be out by 8am. By the morning there were spots on the street so we were able to pick up the car and move it closer while we finished packing up. Otherwise, it was clean and cozy and worked great for us!
